TL;DR/The Short Version: Dessert shop specializing in Filipino desserts. I loved the Halo-Halo. The Long Version: I initially stumbled upon Sweet Puspin while walking around the Byward Market with a colleague, as we had some time before an event we were going to started. That was one day before their opening date, so I made a mental note to return after their opening. (Their opening was June 6, 2025). My husband and I made it there 2 weeks later and I got to enjoy their Halo-Halo. Firstly, I need to express how thrilled I am that there's a dessert bar specializing in Filipino desserts. I love Filipino desserts, especially Halo-Halo and Sago Pandan. They also sell Taho. I got the Pandan Halo-Halo ($10.99) and it was huge and delicious. I loved all the different ingredients and how photogenic it was. It had different coloured jelly cubes, beans, and palm seeds at the bottom. The sides of the cup was smeared with Pandan paste and then filled with shaved ice. Condensed milk syrup was drizzled in. Then 2 scoops of Pandan ice cream, a scoop of ube paste, and a sprinkling of corn flakes. Finally a rolled biscuit is stuck in it. It was so good! Even though it was so sweet. I usually like my desserts not too sweet, but I make the exception for Halo-Halo, because Halo-Halo is a sugar bomb, lol. The husband and wife duo who run the place are lovely. The husband was making my Halo-Halo and partway he realized he was making an Ube Halo-Halo. He apologized and said he'd start over with my Pandan Halo-Halo. I said that it was ok, I like Ube too so I was willing to get the Ube one instead, but they insisted on getting my order correct. I also appreciated that the husband went and washed his hands after handling my cash before he prepared my Halo-Halo. And after washing his hands, he donned gloves. I always appreciate good hand hygiene, but especially by those in the food industry! Bonus points for good sanitation. This place is more suited for takeout. It has only a single table for two, but if you can snag it, it's a cute little corner. Sweet Puspin is a sweet place, both literally and figuratively. I'm looking forward to trying out their other offerings. Like all businesses in the Byward Market, there is no dedicated parking. It's paid street parking or paid parkade parking only. 1 star for treatment…read more I used to go this place, celebrated birthdays & friends' reunions when their location was on Clarence and then on York St. Those time, they had friendly & welcoming staff. But, when I got hit on the hand by the metal pole of their flying patio umbrella (not bolted down or affixed to their patio table), I was dismissed ('there's nothing wrong with your hand') & told to just google their information because they don't have a business card, there's no manager or person in charge on the premises yet there were 3 women from the café who avoided my request for contact information. They did offer ice in a bag BUT only after much insisting that I'd like to speak to someone in charge of the café. Again, I was dismissed and told that there's no responsibility to be had because it was an accident and that I should leave the premises because I was causing a scene since I ended up crying because my hand was hurting. The security camera of the Byward Market building across the street caught the whole hit incident (June 16).

Not as good as I hoped…read more We had been here before and I didn't remember being impressed. But I wanted to check it out again just to make sure. My carrot monster cake was dry. It was also a little too cold such that the icing was too firm. I should have snapped a picture of the cracked side of the cake, which is a clear sign that something's not right.
