I had family in from Chicago so it important to flaunt good food that Phoenix also has to offer. If you know anything about Chicago, they're known for their good eats. I was looking for a place to take my in-laws for dessert and found sweet republic on Yelp and they had great reviews. I ordered a cookie sandwich with strawberry ice cream. They strawberry ice cream was out of this world. Everyone else ordered something a little more extravagant. The toasted marshmallow was delishious on top of the ice cream, i had to get a bite of that. Look at the smile on every ones faces in that pic... this place is out of this world. Well done all around! Service is built to keep the line moving, the loyalty program actually rewards you with free goodies, and the products are unique, on point, and of a high quality. Let me start with saying I don't do dairy. So my view may not be the same as others who do. I got the dark chocolate sorbet. The flavor was perfect, nice and dark but it could have been creamer. Service was quick and easy. read more

My wife and I were on a rare date as I travel 3 weeks each month and made a point of going to Sweet Republic o near the end of our date. We understand current regulations for masks, but my wife is unable to for a medical reason. We explained this and the first clerk was understanding and began to serve us. Halfway through our order, we were then told we had to order online or leave. I again explained the situation, with my wife standing as far from all as she could. This was not just embarrassing, but put a sour note on an otherwise special evening. The dumbest part is at the time there were at least 5 other people inside with out masks on slowly eating their ice cream but standing as inside dining as been removed. This could have been avoided with some kindness and understanding but instead it resulted in losing two customers who were regulars for life. read more

A little smaller than the Scottsdale location but just as good. My only advice is to look at the website for the daily flavors before driving here. Its clean, the ice cream is top notch and they make their own waffle cones - not really much more one can ask for. The parking lot is small and there are a lot of business in the same complex that share the spots so it can be crowded at times. read more

Poor service and very unfriendly and rude staff who seem very annoyed that you came into the store. Good ice cream would make up for that, but their ice cream tastes cheap and watery - sort of like the cheap ice cream you get at the grocery store that lacks the proper milk fat content. On top of that, the scoops are tiny for the price. Save your money and avoid this "ice cream" shop. read more

I love this place. If you have any allergies everything is marked with an easy system so you don't have to ask questions. I am gluten free, dairy free and most places are difficult but easy peasy here. The best thing about this place is the flavors are natural and so pleasing. The texture is also fantastic. As a frequent .. okay 7/8 times a year, it's always fun after an Arizona Cardinals game (usually a loss recently) to find a dessert spot to mainline some sugar for pleasure or just for the heck of it! Yes the reviews for sweetrepublic got me in the car, Mike's away from my hotel base downtown to try this spot on 16th. It was not overly busy, maybe due to the cooler weather or upcoming Christmas holiday a day away, only six or seven people in the store and a few in line. Looking over the menu, my eyes became fixated on the Pecan Turtle sundae. It was prepared quickly by the lovely (young ..I'm not flirting) counter person kind of politically correct right.. Upon first nite the salted butter Carmel ice cream grabbed me, with the hot fudge and whipped cream they have me hooked.. until I come back and try something else. update- went again on Sunday night so my hubby could try it...Just an excuse to go again!! So delicious!! First learned of Sweet Republic on a news segment featuring the s'mores sundae! I'm a sucker for yummy ice cream & homemade marshmallows so count me in!! I stopped in after work and although it was Saturday night I lucked out and only 6 folks were in line....after only a few minutes about 20 other folks came in! I can see why...the ice cream flavors were intriguing, homemade treats like marshmallows & almond brittle to sprinkle on top all nestled in a crisp waffle cone or bowl!! They say life is short-so this evening I had dessert first! It was delicious! As I devoured the sweet sticky creamy crunchy concoction....a wave of Pure Bliss engulfed me and my tastebuds!! Best Ice Cream Treat ever!!!! Thanks Sweet republic!! I went to Sweet Republic with a couple of friends last month and ordered 1 scoop of strawberry ice cream in a cup. Pretty simple and basic, right? Unfortunately the ice cream tasted way too sweet, was missing any tanginess and overall lacked in terms of strawberry flavor. It's was expensive, too! Novel is the best ice cream in town, and their strawberry is to die for. I don't understand the love for Sweet Republic if they can't even nail a classic ice cream flavor like strawberry. read more

Came here tonight Saturday, May 30th, with my 4 small children. The line was long. When it was our turn they were so patient letting my kids decide what they wanted. I felt pressured as the parent to hurry up for everyone else behind me but the workers treated me so kindly. The ice cream- definitely worth coming back for!! 5 ice creams single scoops in a (delicious) cone and a special sundae was $33. Thanks for the awesome ice cream but more importantly the kind customer service. read more

The ice cream here is pretty good, but two stars because I have truly had better - and a very small single scoop for $3.85 is a New York City price, not a Valley price. You can get a pint of artisan gelato for what you pay for two scoops here. It's not worth it. I hate to be the one who says it, but it's not. read more

Enjoying a little staycation and new places to try. This was one of them. I was especially drawn to it because of their vegan options - my husband can't eat dairy. We tried a few and chose to share a sorbet double scoop of one chocolate and the other strawberry. It isn't ice cream as such, but light and very tasty. We would definitely go again and take our children. read more

They kept us waiting, while Those 4 high school girls behind the counter were socializing, their back towards the public, handling everything bare hands, scooping the icecream from 1 container to another one, those long nails touching the icecream, clipboards on the service table on top of kitchen utensils, no professionalism at all. Best waffle cone ever! It is thick and crunchy. Not one of those that gets all soggy when you are eating your ice cream. Moreover, there is chocolate on the tip on seal the cone. We had Madagascar vanilla and Belgian chocolate ice cream. Vanilla is on the sweeter side. Chocolate is super rich. Ice cream was a bit too soft when it was served. The portion is fine. read more

I have been going to SR since it opened. Great addition to the neighborhood if you don't mind expensive ice cream Last night was a first. At 10:01 all patrons ( full house) were ordered out as they were closing. They had plenty to do cleaning and wrapping up but for some reason felt the need to run off at least 15 people mid cone and in an Incredibly rude manner. The owners should find out who the short little woman was and explain a little about customer service to her. Maybe she needs to work somewhere else? read more

Very good ice cream. Smooth and creamy and not over frozen. A great pallet of flavors to choose from. I ate there one hour before closing and things were quiet, but it is a surprisingly small place. I had the egg nog and the ginger bread. Bother very tasty although on the conservative side. The egg nog was not over powered by the alcohol flavors but would benefit from more egg nog taste. Same with the ginger bread. read more

I cannot begin tell you how amazing this place is! Homemade ice cream with such a variety of flavors. They make their own marshmallows, BACON BRITTLE and sweet & salty roasted pecans for toppings! The Pecan Turtle sundae is fabulous! The only drawback is that it is too close to my house! haha....we want to go every night! read more

Holy moly! Some of the best ice cream I have ever had. I got the kinako (roasted soybean powder) and earl grey and both were exceptional. They were so creamy. You could really taste the bergamot in the early grey and that gave it a refreshing note even though it was creamy. The kinako ice cream transported me back to Japan and I really appreciate that. Their employee was also very mindful of making sure everything was done in a clean manner. read more

Artisan all-natural ice cream made locally. At Sweet Republic, our goal is to put a smile on each customer's face. We believe that the only way to achieve this is to create the most flavorful indulgences from all-natural ingredients, handcrafted in small batches right in the store. For our artisan ice cream, we start with milk and cream from independent Arizona dairy farms, and add hand-stirred caramel, slow-roasted bananas, handmade marshmallows, fresh baked brownies and more. For our sorbets, we use ripe whole fruit, which we peel, pit and chop right in the store. We don't just stop here - we also make all our own cookies, toppings, sauces and waffle cones from scratch - this way we know only the highest quality ingredients are used. There are no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives or hydrogenated oils in any of our products - only what nature intended. We believe in sharing the pleasure of ice cream in a way that is responsible to the environment we live in. We suggest eating our artisan treats with ice cream sticks made from birch wood sustainably harvested in Maine. We recycle all plastic and glass bottles, so please make sure to hand your bottle back to us when you're done with it.

Jan and Helen opened the first Sweet Republic in Scottsdale mid-2008. Since then they've expanded to Whole Foods across the Valley and opened an outlet at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport Terminal 4.

If you love your puppy don't go to 16th Street Sweet Republic! We were coming home after working a long day in retail and decided to stop at the 16th street location. We had our 8lb, Shin Tzu, with us which my hubby carries in just to take out ice cream NO OTHER CUSTOMERS were in store! We were spoken to in such a rude manner by a petite girl with hands on her hip saying we could not take out with dog in my husband's arms.... We have stopped in and NEVER had a problem taking out a couple of containers, being totally respectful if there had been other customers which there were not! The rudeness of tone and body language was unacceptable and we will NEVER purchase from Sweet5 Republic again. Churn has NEVER had a problem with us carring the dog in to buy (really an 8lb sweet quiet baby. The other two employees all stood there with hands on hips like they were gang members. When I said we will go to Churn as we are appreciated there the gal said good riddance and good night which infuriated me. I have recommended Sweet Republic to many of my customers and neighbors and will be sharing my negative experience. This so-called employee should NOT be working in a. After reading reviews and considering our options, we were really looking forward to this experience. When we arrived, we were excited by the variety of flavors and the over-the-top presentation. Unfortunately, once we started looking more closely at the products, we became concerned. The ice cream in the freezer appeared extremely soft and partially melted, and we noticed significant condensation around the cookie dough/batter. It did not give the impression that the products were being properly maintained or stored. The milkshakes certainly LOOK impressive, but once we actually tasted them, the quality was very disappointing. The ice cream did not have the creamy consistency or quality I would expect for the price. It tasted like inexpensive, low-quality ice cream, and the whipped cream was also warm rather than cold and fresh. At that point, it felt like we were paying primarily for the presentation, jar, toppings, and "wow factor" rather than quality ice cream. I also noticed packaged items such as Chips Ahoy cookies, brownies, and sugar cookies being used as toppings, with some of the original store packaging visible. There is nothing inherently wrong with using packaged products, but when the actual ice cream isn't high quality, it becomes difficult to justify the price. The most concerning part of our visit, however, was what happened with an employee. One employee arrived wearing what appeared to be pajamas and had a kitten/cat on her shoulder. She took the cat toward the back and later was behind/near the register preparing drinks while she and another employee were interacting with the cat around the food and snack area. Seeing an animal being handled in an area where food and food-service items were being prepared was extremely concerning. As a customer, I should not have to wonder whether pet hair or dander could be getting near food. For anyone with a cat allergy, this could be especially concerning. Once I saw this, I stopped eating my milkshake altogether. I sincerely hope the owners or management take this review seriously. The staff need proper training, and the food-storage, cleanliness, and food-handling practices should be carefully evaluated. A fun atmosphere and impressive presentation can only go so far. Quality, cleanliness, and proper food handling should always come first. We went there expecting a memorable dessert experience with our kids. Unfortunately, the experience was memorable for all the wrong reasons. My recommendation: save your money and look elsewhere. We spent $81 on this visit.
