This was my 3rd time trying this place because I wanted to confirm whether my taste buds worked properly, and rest assured it definitely did not disappoint. They seemed to have increased their pricing from the previous times I tried them which made me a bit sad because i noticed inconsistencies: 5 different varieties of curry noodle ended up costing $84.83 the first time, 2 varieties of curry noodle totaled $45.17 the 2nd time. We didn't order dessert or drinks the first two times. Last visit burned $52.52 in my wallet, but still worth it on special occasions. I ordered the Chicken Khao Soi and Thai Iced Tea for myself, and a Mango Sticky Rice dessert with 2 cans of soda for my son. We came for lunch on a Saturday and got parking in the carpark easily- they're located in a strip mall with lots of spaces. Sweet Rice was already busy when we came in around 12 ish, but we luckily got one of the last remaining tables and were seated immediately. From looking at the menu, it's clearly a place for noodle lovers. They had many different varieties of noodles with dishes that I don't often see on another restaurant menus. My husband got the duck noodles and I got the tom yum boat noodles. Both were very flavorsome and were delivered to our table quickly. The duck noodles were in a smoky broth that tasted like it was soy-based and served with a thin rice noodle. My husband really liked these and I did too. The tom yum boat noodles were also excellent. The tom yum broth was a little sweet, and it came with fish balls and rice noodles. The ambiance here is simple and casual, and good for a quick meal. Service is abrupt but friendly. Sweet Rice is a small, tucked-away Thai restaurant in the corner of a small shopping area/strip mall. The parking was ample on a weekday during lunch hour. The food, service, and clean modern decor make this place one of my top lunch spots now! Food and drinks are ordered via either kiosk or with the cashier. The lady who helped me and my party was friendly, patient, and polite. She explained the menu to us and we were all able to find dishes we liked and order quickly. The food came out pretty fast and the server brought out a caddy with various sauces and condiments. She was also kind enough to bring out some chili oil to spice up the Khao Soi, which is what I and another friend ordered. The Khao Soi was beautifully presented, came with a hearty variety of toppings and spices, and with the added chili oil, the perfect amount of spiciness for me. The curry soup was creamy and flavorful while the noodles were nice and tender. To top things off, for dessert we shared an order of Mango Sweet Rice. The mango was perfectly ripened and the rice was fresh, soft, and with the coconut sauce, a nice blend of sweet and salty that complimented the mango well! My husband enjoyed their stewed pork dish which is savory and served with rice. I've heard that you can order from both Bowl Thai Grill and Sweet Rice and be served in one of the restaurants. Product was great, customer service wasn't. Had this store on my list for a while and finally tried it. There were many positive reviews, so I came in with high expectation. Unfortunately, the store left me with a bad first impression. I came at a non-peak hour and had the choice of choosing where to sit. When I selected my table, I was told to sit elsewhere, and it happened to be dirty! I was going to point it out (and I should've), but they seemed to have an attitude, so I didn't say anything. Instead, I waited 15 minutes at a dirty table and ate my meal there. Not a great experience. On a positive note, the food itself was great. Everything was fresh and flavors meshed well together. Not too salty nor bland. I would definitely order it again. As for ambience, tables are aligned against the wall and there's an area to self-serve yourself plates or condiments. Plenty of parking outside as the store's part of a big plaza. I generally tend to let customer service slide if the product is good. I've had this soup before from Bowl Thai and have always enjoyed it, but noticed that this time the broth was not as flavorful. It was actually a bit bland. I also ordered the Kao Soi and hainan chicken for my family and they enjoyed it. For dessert, I ordered a mango sticky rice. Although it was good, the price was ridiculously high at $11 something per order. For that amount, they could have made the serving a bit bigger. Probably not but it does taste amazing which it seems that's the theme of this place....tasting amazing at the cost of ingesting a bit(or alot) of fat/oil. This place is solid. It's not my favorite Thai place, but it's nice. Definitely has a laid back, casual feeling to it. The interior is a step up from many restaurants. Not amazing, but modern and hip. You order at the front, and specify whether you want it to go or to eat in. You sit wherever's available and they'll bring your food to you. You pretty much serve yourself from then on. They have ice, water, and cups on the side as well as to-go containers for leftovers. They also have jars of toppings for your noodles. The lady handling the register was really friendly, and asked us if we found everything to our liking before we left. We saw a few regulars come in and interact with her while we were there eating. It was really great to see an established rapport between this restaurant and locals. I have to give them kudos to their menu. Seems like they've streamlined it because they don't have any stir fry dishes. Past photos indicate they used to had items like Pad See Ew, but have since removed them. We got the Kao Soi and Boat Noodle. I really, really wanted to love their Boat Noodle and had high expectations based on photos, but it was just okay. The meat was probably the best part of the dish. It was flavorful and juicy. The broth was just clean beef broth, but it lacked flavor. A bit more salt could've done a lot for it I think. I tried my husband's Kao Soi and that was pretty delicious. It was a great balance of curry sauce, crispy noodles, and veggies. Would highly recommend getting this. My husband got the mango sticky rice to go, which he said was just fine. They give you an entire half of a mango to go with the rice and cream. Going to come back because I really want to try their coconut ice cream with toppings.
