I found this restaurant because I get my nails done in the same plaza (great nail spot FYI lol) but decided to grab some food on my way out. I I'll admit I was a little confused as to what kind of food The images on the windows showed Asain dishes but also acai bowls and I had never seen a hybrid restaurant like this. Well, let me telllll you...I ordered and Asian dish AND an acai bowl and both were SO good! The owner/manager was super personable and friendly! He took my order with a smile and was just so kind for such a short interaction. It was lovely. The restaurant itself is small and cozy. They have lots of food options plus all sorts of hot and cold drinks. You can dine-in or take out. There's free parking in the plaza which is great! It's a bit far for me to personally go back often, but I now stop in there every time I'm in Torrance to get my nails done and very much look forward to my next order!

The food is amazing, the owner is so funny and friendly, the prices are reasonable. Overall, it's an amazing place that me and my boyfriend like to go to a lot! The peanut butter açaí bowl is divine!

To go: Dragon Noodles and Spicy Chicken Masala over rice

After seeing such nice reviews I decided to stop in at this place. I didn't have time to dine in so I ordered my food to go. Brace yourself...the owner has a rooster sound for his doorbell! I was greeted warmly and my order was taken from a broad Pan-Asian fusion menu that has some classic American breakfast favorites, as well. The owner sat and visited with me while my food was being prepared, and it was a pleasant conversation in their homey dining room. The dragon noodles were very good...they had a nice amount of heat on the back side without blowing your palate, but feel free to order them extra spicy if you like it hot. Also had the Spicy Chicken Masala which also had a pleasant kick. Will plan for another visit to sample the breakfast offerings.

Friendly service, fresh food, and delicious flavors. Sausalido café has it all. It started when I took my mom here. We all loved the food, and I've been coming back ever since. It also has my absolute favorite green curry, a great iced coffee that really highlights the coffee rather than oversweetening it to disguise the the natural flavors, and a Dragon Noodle which at medium spice will really knock your socks off without being painfully spicy. I don't know what kind of chili they use, but it is not like any I've had elsewhere, and it is absolutely delicious. The owner is a delight and the staff are super helpful and friendly. The vibe is a little more casual, certainly not a formal kind of place, and that serves to make you feel like you're seeing an old friend rather than walking in as just another customer. They make us feel welcome whenever we arrive, and I always leave a little happier than when I entered. Love this place.

Torrance Food Crawl #430 Sausalido Cafe is a small family-owned restaurant with a menu that is primarily Pan-Asian fusion but has worldwide coverage: Asian (noodles and more), American (breakfasts and sandwiches), coffees, ice creams, smoothies, fruit bowls, and more. I've primarily tried the Asian dishes. The Dragon Fried Rice (hint - the word 'dragon' might be a clue that this is spicy) was a very nice basic fried rice dish. You can adjust the spice level to your liking. Everything here is prepared on the spot, so they can easily adjust the spice levels or contents if you have special dietary requirements. The Dragon Noodles (basically Pad Thai) was excellent, slightly sweet, with lots of noodles and vegetables. I ordered this with mild spice. When the owner checked on me, I made a comment that it was mild, but very nice tasting. He provided a sample of their dry spice that I could add to my meal, commenting that the spices came from several different areas, including Asia and Africa. I had trouble placing the spice, but when I heard that part of the blend came from Africa, I understood my confusion. The sandwich and breakfast items have been solid, with traditional American choices. There are numerous fruit and sweeter drinks on the menu, which I haven't tried for personal health reasons. I've usually been here in the afternoons when it was fairly quiet, but the place gets busier on Saturday morning. Service has always been personal, friendly, and helpful. This is the type of restaurant I like, a small family-owned one with a menu that isn't the same as every other restaurant.

This is their Dragon Fruit Smoothie. ( Way better and healthier than 31 flavors)

I came into the restaurant wanting something different than I had been eating. The same old things weren't working for me anymore. I walked in and saw that the restaurant had a varied menu of both American foods and Asian foods. I bought pad Thai noodles with shrimp and I tried the Dragon fruit bowl. Both were so good that I have been coming by on the average of once a week ever since! Try it, you'll like it!

    French Toast Combo

My boyfriend and I came and ordered breakfast takeout and the food did not disappoint! We ordered the French toast combo that came with eggs and bacon, we also paid a little extra to add hash browns to it. The food tasted like it was made fresh and had that home-cooking feel. Our favorite was the strawberry mango smoothie that we ordered! It tasted like real fruits instead of the usual artificial syrups. The staff were super sweet and came out to talk to us while we were waiting for our food. I would definitely come back to try their other smoothies and food on their menu!

When you dine in they bring metal cups with an icy cold carafe of cold water to your table. Customer service is efficient. The person behind the counter is very soft spoken and gives you a slight smile but gets your order correct every time. Hands down so don't argue with me they have the absolute BEST orange chicken. It has a slight crunch on the outside while tender and juicy in the inside. The orange sauce is perfection. It has a great balance of salty and sweet without being overly sweet like an orange candy. It's not tart and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. They put the right amount of sauce so it is not drenched. Pair it with the garlic rice and the salad that crops and fresh no dressing is even needed. Order this and you will be happy. The regular white rice is good too! The Zapp chicken is crunchy, juicy and spicy. I normally cannot eat spicy but this one is perfect. Since my 24 year old son told me about this restaurant I've been here four times in the past month. Without a doubt, a hidden gem in the South Bay!…read more It's tough to find quality Hainanese chicken, but here they serve it both the traditional way and also fried up + crispy. Both plates come with a bed of ginger garlic rice, lettuce, two large cucumber slices, a heaping serving of the chicken, and their house lime crema + the sweet and sour sauces. I'd personally double up on the line crema and skip on the sweet and sour sauce, but that's just my preference. Their soup with chicken and mushroom is so soothing. An underrated pickup for when you're congested and don't feel like cooking, I should add. You can even order their broth in small or large portions! I think what I enjoy about this restaurant is that there are so many addicting individual components to each dish, but they all mesh so incredibly well on a cohesive plate. I normally choose to call in my order and pick it up so I can't comment on dine-in service. But my interactions, though brief have been pleasant. I don't have much to say about the ambiance, but it strikes me as a family owned business. Be kind and be patient with the staff. And respect the craft of the good food they cook up!

When we arrived it was apparent the "chef@ was also the hostess. As a result we waited quite a while to be greeted and seated. I should note that the chef did arrive about thirty minutes later. I ordered the Waan Om Khom Kluean yellow chicken curry and my guest had the deeb Sao Thai Pad Thai with shrimp. I also ordered a Thai ice tea and the server forgot to bring it. I had to remind her after my meal was almost finished. To me the chicken curry had a terrible unappetizing presentation. It looked like shredded chicken and big lumps of potatoes. In fast that's what it was. While the taste was pretty good, the over abundance of potatoes felt like a filler for less chicken. It was a decent dish but far from one of my favorites. The Pad Thai looked a lot better. My guest said it was good, not great, and that he'd order it again. Now to the price. Nearly $70 including the two dishes, one Thai ice tea and rice. This was not fine dining. I realize they have bills to pay but it was much more than I've paid at other Thai restaurants for similar meals. All parking is on the street. One need a bit of courage to park on PCH as passing cars make it scary to open the driver's door. Cars were flying by in the 40's and 50's and it's a very unsafe parking location.
