We started out with the chicken satay (which has the BEST peanut sauce I've ever had) and the wrapped shrimp. Don't skip on the apps, they were delicious! We ordered from the lunch menu Beef Pad Thai and Fried Catfish. They were both amazing however the catfish dish is extremely spicy. The service was quick and speedy - but one server running the whole main floor and she didn't skip a beat! We knew they may be short staffed and still learning since it was their first day. We were greeted and seated right away. Everyone was very pleasant. The restaurant is very clean and nice. We ordered steamed dumplings for our appetizer. We both said they were the absolute best we have ever had. Just a touch of spicy and absolutely delicious! We highly recommend them! I ordered the Thai Cashew Nut with Chicken and my husband ordered the Thai Garlic with Pork. Both were delicious and we would get them again, though we would probably increase the spice level next time. We weren't sure the first time what to expect. There were a few glitches in service, but nothing surprising for literally the first hour they are open. There were quite a few people here and tons of people picking up orders to go. Not sure if I caught them on a bad day or what, but overall I was pretty disappointed. We called in a to-go order just before 1pm. Ordered pad Thai, spicy catfish, crab rangoons, Thai dumplings, Tom Mud dessert, and yellow curry. The food was hit and miss. The appetizers were both very good but the entrees were lacking. I'd never had that dessert before; it was different but I enjoyed it. The problem though is that after I checked out and was given my receipt, I discovered that I was charged the dinner price instead of the lunch price for the fish, which was an $8 or $9 difference. When I went back inside and inquired about it, he told me that he rang it up wrong and was unaware they had a lunch version. No effort was made t remedy the situation so I got stuck paying more than I should have. read more

I have been meaning to stop at this place for some time. Baton Rouge does not have a lot of Thai restaurants and this one is in Central, so it's a good 20 minute drive for me. I went on a Friday afternoon and arrived before 3:00 pm so I was able to order off the lunch menu which are smaller portions than the dinner selections but also cost less. The lunch menu items include a spring roll, hot and sour soup and either steamed or brown rice. I paid extra to try their fried rice instead, but opted out of getting the soup since hot and sour is not my favorite and there were no substitutions for the lunch inclusive price. ****** SUGGESTION TO MANAGEMENT - please consider allowing for customers to substitute a different (non hot & sour soup) with an upcharge for lunch similar to paying an up charge for fried rice instead of plain rice. I asked the waitress about this, but she said they didn't do substitutions on the soup even for an upcharge for lunch menu items. I very much enjoyed the yellow curry dish, the spice level was nice. However, I was truly surprised and thrilled with the Thai cashew nut dish. It was really spectacular both in seasoning, taste and amount of vegetables that came in the dish. Love the crunch of the cashews too. The fried rice was okay but nothing to rave about. Glad that I tried it but I probably would not pay the upcharge to change from plain to fried rice next time I order there. One of the reasons why I often crave Chinese, Thai or other Asian food is because I love the spices and asian cuisines often include lots of different vegetables which is sadly lacking in Western/American low cost restaurants. I chose chicken as my protein for both dishes, I think you also had a choice of pork or tofu for the regular price and a modest upcharge for shrimp. I did not think that the amount of chicken that they provided for each dish was generous, but again considering both bowls were lunch prices for a set menu it wasn't too bad and certainly enough to be satisfied. No doubt I would have been even more full had I ate the soup. But I detest wasting food and I REALLY don't like hot and sour soup so my only option was to tell the waitress not to bring it to the table in this case. I was somewhat disappointed in the crab rangoon and the spring rolls. The crab rangoon was actually nice tasting and had a very crunchy wrapping, but the filling was on the runny side and a bit bland on flavor. The spring rolls were also less than great. Rather lacking in filling and not much taste to them, although again the outside exterior was nice and crunchy. Of course the sweet and hot Thai dipping sauce is my favorite for any fried appetizer and that made both taste good. Overall I really enjoyed my lunch there. Everything came to the table piping hot and service was excellent. I hope to have an opportunity to try other things on their menu. Although I'm not in this part of town that often, I sometimes go to the Aldi grocery store in Central and this restaurant is not that far from there, so I will certainly try them again when in the neighborhood. read more

It was very good. We've visited twice in one week. We had the chicken satay, special fried rice, chicken pad Thai, shrimp glass noodle, chicken green curry, pepper steak and Shrimp fried noodle. All of it was very flavorful and food temperature was on point. The vegetables in all the dishes were al dente and not over cooked. The service was absolutely wonderful. If you are on the fence about taking the drive -- do it! We ventured to Sweet Rice after reading an online post. As Thai food lovers, we are always happy to see a new option in the City. The food and service were fantastic and worth it. Because they are limited on wait staff, you seat your self. They take your drink order and you go back and order at the counter. I have never seen this concept - but loved it! I didn't feel rushed or anxious to make a decision quickly and I had my drink to enjoy while I perused the menu. We enjoyed the Paradise Shrimp, Panang curry with chicken, Thai fried rice with shrimp, spring rolls and Toong tang. The food was authentic, great quality and delicious. The only item we didn't care for was the toong tang, but it was likely a personals preference. The owner stopped by our table and shared more about his wife, the chef and their journey to opening the restaurant. It was heartwarming and I truly hope they are successful. The food is A-1!! Service was fast & friendly. The spicy rice was magnificent!! The perfect amount of spice with the right amount of crunch to the veggies. And let's get into how delicious the Spicy Fish was!! Catfish?!?! OMG! I was pleasantly surprised by that. It was fried just right & that red chili curry is indeed tasty, just as the menu states.
