This was the BEST little hole in the wall to stumble into! The owner has apparently kept this bakery going for decades, and is obviously doing something right. It appears he makes a fresh batch of treats each morning. So, we naturally went for those goodies that were hot out of the oven. I am not a scone person, and my scone was divine! Just barely sweet, with just enough chocolate chips and raisins to add some bite. My husband ordered a croissant and cheese danish; both of which he devoured! Coffee was "light and sweet," just how we like it. The best part, though, was the service! The owner is such a fabulous host and got us acquainted with the neighborhood by advising where we should go enjoy our treat (see pic; a beautifully manicured residential park on the water). Called ahead to ask if they had tiramisu cake. Owner (?) said yes and when I got there, he showed me the cake and confirmed I was okay with it before buying it. Mask compliant as well! I called at about 9:30am on a Tuesday and ordered a small birthday cake for our office for about 12pm pickup, and there was no issue! When I walked in the place smelled heavenly !! There are such an assortment of pastries I wanted to take everything home. He also honored the 20% off check in on Yelp, $21 for a 7" cake is a good deal. The cake was delicious and everyone enjoyed. This place is a quaint spot to get your 'sweet temptation' satisfied. We ordered Pecan pies, walnut-Chocolate Meringues (that look like turtles), and a cake for our daughter's birthday. While the cake is still on its way, I just wanted to spare a moment to appreciate the goods. Owned by nice people who assisted us with everything and took time to understand the requirements of the cake. This place is a no frills, mom and pop bakery, serving cookies, cakes, and K-cup coffees. The only thing that took away that 1 star is the coffee - perhaps, they dont have bandwidth to prepare fresh coffees, cappuccinos etc and serve it to the customers - but the K-cup, and a cookie did the trick. give it a shot, but dont plan on staying and sitting, as most of the stuff they have is take-out. We've been coming here since I was a baby - I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review. There used to be 6 other bakeries in Great Neck - they've ALL since closed. Benkert's. Bruce's. Strauss. Not to rag on any of them because I'm still mourning the loss, but there's a reason Sweet Temptation is the last one standing. Their sugar cookies with cinnamon or sprinkles are completely addictive. So light and fresh. Like cookies from another simpler time. I had the chocolate cake for my birthday for around 15 years in a row and love it to this day (although by now my palette has changed and I wish I was a little more intense with the chocolate flavor - but it still brings me back)! The people here are always so lovely - it's a total mom and pop shop. It's SO nice to come here and support one of the only small businesses that has outlasted the others in Great Neck. First time visiting this bakery! Definitely an honest-to-goodness mom & pop shop. The guy who runs the bakery (who also happens to have a daughter named Jennifer!) is very nice and super helpful. I needed a small cake for my family on a Sunday afternoon and he was more than happy to describe all the cakes he had available to me. I ended up getting a white cake with white frosting and custard and fruit inside. Let me tell you, it was delicious! I'm looking forward to returning to this place the next time I'm in need of something sweet. $25 for a small cake - reasonable, in my opinion! This place is a little hard to spot unless you're definitely looking for it, but if you do happen to pass by, definitely give it a visit! read more

I recently attended a function where the cake was from this bakery. I'm quite perplexed because there was a plastic film ON the cake. They never removed the letter size plastic film, instead of transferring the picture on the cake. They also needed spell check as the cake was spelled incorrectly. I needed a cheesecake to celebrate our daughter's 30th birthday. I called the day before, after trying to find an open bakery locally. Either closed or no NY cheesecake. The owner answered, asked what I wanted and told me to pick it up the next day at 3. I got there on time, it was ready and asked to have Happy Birthday written on. The young lady was very accommodating, wrote it on the cake with my daughter's name and added a red candy rose. Beautiful!! Later that night we enjoyed it to no end. So delicious! I called from California about having a banana cream cake delivered to my boyfriend at the United States Merchant Marine Academy for his birthday. I spoke with Jen who was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to help me in any way possible. Jen delivered perfectly on time! Excellent bakery! This bakery makes the best desserts & he will CUSTOMIZE ANYTHING! If you have dietary restrictions (like lactose intolerance) you can bring him your own ingredients (lactose free milk or lactose free sour cream) and he'll make you whatever the treats you've been missing and they're delicious. So many cakes & pies are already non-dairy (parve) and for real, they're delicious. My family has been buying from Sweet Temptations for years. The owner, Luis, is the nicest, most down to earth, "small business" man who is so devoted to his craft. Everything is delicious. High quality and you wouldn't expect it by the way the bakery looks from the outside. It's cute and has a homey look to it but the desserts are top notch. The apple pecan muffins, lemon squares, apple twists, corn bread, macaroons, meringues, cookies, tarts, passover cakes, and one of my favorites that I've never seen anywhere else - the "success cake". No flour or milk but tastes like a fine French pastry. I don't know how he does it but he does it all. And if he doesn't do it just ask him and he is so accommodating! I don't like the pecans in the apple pecan muffins so I'll order them in advance & he'll make me without the nuts. He's an amazing baker and the nicest man. One of the best bakeries around. I usually order his fruit tarts whenever I have special company. He will make it to order combining any fruit you like. I usually order fruits that are in season. The last one he made for me was an apple blueberry. All my guests wanted to know where I bought this most delicious pie. There was not a crumb left over.
