I live in Durham but heard about Sweet Traditions via social media and Yelp and thought it was worth the drive to check them out. I was so happy I did! I always support small family owned businesses versus chains when possible. I love the variety of desserts that they offer from mini pies to cookies to cupcakes to Lumpy's ice cream Yum! Their ability to make the intricate cakes that they make is amazing. Such talent and artistry. I'm sure looking forward to finally try their edible cookie dough and macarons! DCP's food truck rodeo gets bigger each time, and the competition amongst trucks a little stiffer.. There were four cupcake trucks and trailers slinging their sweet wares at the last one, including this new-comer hailing from Wake Forest. She has a large pink-accented get-up, and I was drawn over by the display case of beautiful treats... just like you'd expect to see at a brick & mortar. There were around six flavors, and I decided on the "cookie dough." Not as good as the ice cream version of the dessert, but still yummy! What I liked most about LeAne's cake is that it is light and fluffy (too many dense cakes with heavy buttercreams out there these days). The chocolate cake gave way to a spot of light cake with chocolate chips in the middle, that I wish had been a larger pocket. Wow wow wow! These are some seriously delectable sweets! We tried the Traditional Cheesecake Cupcake, which is really just a cute little cupcake size portion of cheesecake, and it was fantastic! Very dense and crumbly, and just the right amount of sweetness. This definitely ain't your mama's no-bake cheesecake. If I could improve it at all, I'd say it could use a bit more of the bottom crust layer. It's funny, because I usually find cheesecake to have too much crust. But the real winner of the day was the Strawberry Dream Cake, with fresh strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream icing. Oh-em-geeee! It was soooo good! It was so dense and moist, sopping with fresh strawberry puree, but somehow not soggy at all. It is my new favorite cake from anywhere period. Sweet Traditions makes some delicious cupcakes! I tried them out at the last Durham food truck rodeo and I got two for our party of four to sample--strawberry lemonade and creamsicle. It was a hot June day, so I went with light, fruity flavors. Both cupcakes were delicious, but the creamsicle (orange cream) really stood out. It tasted just like the push up pops I remember from my childhood (and the creamsicles my parents had as kids). The cupcakes weren't really complex or creative, but were delicious, light, fluffy and well executed. And, I liked that they weren't HUGE ($2.50 each)--I checked out their website, and for catering, they sell three different sizes (I think they had the medium ones at the truck). I think that that's perfect because I could have certainly eaten a whole one on my own without feeling *too* guilty. I will definitely get another cupcake from them if I see them! read more

Amazing and yummy cupcakes! Was so happy to hear they have finally opened their own location. So of course I made a special trip and boy was it worth the trip! I had a pumpkin cupcake and a double chocolate cupcake and both were beyond delicious. I also grabbed a cup of coffee which was also very delicious. The girl who rang me up was sweet as a button. Only issue is not enough seating and sort of squeezed in but I did notice outside seating as well. Tasted great!! Will be back soon!! read more

We stopped by this food truck at the Raleigh food truck rodeo, after seeing a sign about cheesecake cupcakes. I mean, how could you possibly not get a cheesecake cupcake? We later found out that it was actually a cheesecake in cupcake size, but it was totally fabulous nonetheless! Slightly dense but still crumbly, sweet but not overloaded with sugar. We also got a strawberry cake that tasted SO good. We could tell that it had been soaking in real strawberry juice for a long time because it was so moist and yet, didn't taste like they had just simply loaded up on sugar in the cake. Very very impressed. I guess the next time we visit this truck we will have to get actual cupcakes! read more

Found this sweet business after reading reviews on Yelp. Stopped in and picked up an assortment of cupcakes for a special occasion. We were not disappointed. Each one had a distinctly different and delicious taste. They were fresh, indulgent and amazingly delish! I signed up for the birthday club since, well, it was my birthday! I was disappointed though, when I received my birthday cupcake coupon and it expired less than an hour from when was sent. Hmmmm.... I visited Belle back in April during a food truck festival in Winston Salem. We got Double Chocolate, Wedding Cake, Cherry Limeade, and I believe our fourth was Strawberry. All we absolutely delicious - I was personally blown away by how good they made a vanilla cupcake. I went to another food truck festival today, but Belle was nowhere in sight. Best cupcakes I have found out of all the states I have lived in & visited. Some of the fruity cupcakes will have a whip cream like frosting but the classic ones have real buttercream (not like another local bakery that says "buttercream" but it tastes like Crisco). read more

I love cupcakes. But...about 90% of the time at most cupcake shops, I'll end up eating the icing, and tossing the cupcake, usually because the cake portion is really dry. LeAne's are the only ones that I eat the whole thing. They've got a rich, soft and moist texture that beats all other's I've had. Since she's a food truck, you have to find her, although she's in some pretty regular spots. However, they're opening a storefront in a strip shopping center in Wake Forest soon, so I'll know exactly where to go to get great cupcakes anytime! read more

I love going to the Sweet Traditions truck when I see them at local food truck rodeos. They are one of few desert food trucks with gluten-free cupcakes. I recently had their gluten-free double chocolate cupcake. Their GF cake is super moist and spongy, which is hard to find in the GF world. I love their frosting, too. My only two complaints would be MORE FROSTING, but that's just because I love frosting, and I would love some more GF cupcake options! read more
