Google review: Writing this review after contacting the company directly. Management dismissed my concerns and disappointments. So much for customer satisfaction. They do not care. The following is excerpts from my email to inform them of the mistakes. My daughter's bridal shower was this past weekend. The flavor of the cake was a huge disappointment. Ordered was lemon with raspberry filling. UNACCEPTABLE: the filling was pure white and did not have a hint of raspberry. The lemon cake was edible (not great, rather bland) and moist and would have been delightful with raspberry filling. Instead, it was barely edible and fell short of the design we requested. The cake presentation was not like the photos I provided, but I was able to salvage the cosmetic appearance by adding more greenery. I am aghast that I spent that much for such a mistake. The response was defensive that no mistakes were made and terse with no solution offered. First: I was told I don't know what raspberry tastes like: "Regarding the filling, our decorator has confirmed that the cake contained raspberry mousse between the 2-Layers. For clarity, our raspberry mousse is a white mousse base with real raspberries mixed in. Have you tried this specific filling with us previously?" Not a hint of raspberry flavor as confirmed by the 15 guests. But what do we know. "While we sincerely regret that the cake did not meet your expectations, we have determined that the order was fulfilled as requested. Consequently, we are unable to offer a price adjustment for this order." The last email I sent was ignored. I wanted an acknowledgement of poor executive and perhaps a slight price adjustment or refund to be applied to a future order to encourage my return. Nada. Nothing. As a community service, I recommend you go elsewhere. read more

I was looking for coffee and happened to stumble upon this little cafe. Although they primarily serve sweets, I was pleased to see that they had a decent amount of drink options available too. The workers were friendly and they prepared the drinks quickly. I didn't try any of their sweets, but they looked delightful! I might have to come back to try a cupcake sometime. read more

I recently attended a birthday party at an upscale restaurant. We were pampered with a delicious meal and so looked forward to the highlight of the evening - the birthday cake. Upon the first cut of the cake, the host groaned in despair. As cake slices were passed round the table, the whole room fell to silence. No one could utter a positive word to help the situation. I could only take a small bite. It was simply too dry and too sweet. A frozen Sara Lee pound cake, or a box of Betty Crocker/Duncan Hines cake mix would easily surpass this so-called "custom cake." I want to actually give another half a star for the helpfulness of the staff....but not worth 3 stars. I called to see if this place made Petit Fours and was delighted when the woman who answered said they did. I ordered these 3 weeks before Christmas so I could be assured of having the treat in time. I felt confident that this being a bakery, they would know what a petit four is...fyi, they don't have a clue. For those that aren't sure what I am talking about, a petit four is a French pastry that is a SMALL square poundcake pastry, maybe 1-2" square, usually vanilla with a light glaze and some festive piping. What I received were mini heavy cakes, each about 3" tall, with a heavy thick shortening based glaze.....in other words, 12 of the most dense and disgusting pastries I have ever tasted. I will be honest..as this is a holiday I am not exactly able to call the bakery to cimplain as these were to be a christmas treat. The cost of these was very prohibitive making it HIGHLY unlikely I would be willing to give them another chance. If you are in to thick dense cake-ish pastries....thisnis a bakery for you. I am a fan of Edible Art! It's right down the street from me which is probably a bad thing. I just love that they have so much variety. Want a cupcake? Sure! Want to get some Maple View Farm Ice Cream? Why not! Want a piece of cake? Yes! Want a mini pie? Sign me up! What about a donut? Yes, that too! Seriously so many tasty options in one little North Hills Shop. I have tried a few of the cupcake flavors and they have been pretty tasty. I like that they always seem to have a decent selection. We just recently tried their mini peanut butter pie and it did not disappoint. It had an oreo crust with almost marshmallow like piping. I got ice cream as well the last time I was in. I got the waffle cone with the chocolate top and the chocolate top tasted pretty stale. I would probably skip the cone next time and just stick with the ice cream. They have seasonal flavors as well. I have a pumpkin mocha cupcake waiting in my fridge just calling my name to be eaten! I haven't tried the cake slices yet, but will have to give them a try next time. They also specialize in custom order cakes. The only downside of that is sometimes the employee is wrapped up in taking an order so service can be a bit slow. Compared to other bakeries in the area I think their per peice prices are resonable, not sure about the custom orders. read more

Went again today & the almond amaretto cake slice was perfect! Wasn't overdone or dry as it was last time. Really moist & delicious. I was so pleased! However, I ordered a vanilla cake slice with chocolate frosting & was really disappointed. It is way over cooked & the cake is very crumbly & dry. If you try to get a forkful it ends up breaking up & falling off the fork. I ended up throwing it out because it's not good at all. I took a picture of how dark the bottom is. I also am not sure why the vanilla cake was 2 layers but the almond amaretto was 4 layers. I would expect consistency as far as layering on the cakes. Picked up our $70 cake to see the top / icing was all cracked. They showed me & had no issue with me accepting the cake like that. I asked for them to fix which they quickly did. Moving along, staying positive until.....we cut the cake. LOL! None of the 12 party guests took more than 2 bites. It was atrocious. We ordered decorated cookies for a baby shower and when we receive them the cookies were extremely thin and crispy. The icing on the top of the cookies was not smooth, was hard/crunchy, and several cookies had air pockets in them so the cookies were not flat! We were very disappointed to say the least, since we had heard the cakes were good and we paid a premium price for them. I think they should stick to cakes. It was embarrassing since these were "take home" gifts. We normally use Ginny Cook but she was not able to do them. I guess we have been spoiled by the detailed and the tasty cookies she makes. We would not recommend Edible Art for cookies. I've not seen or tasted their cakes. We had another shower 3 weeks later and we were able to get them from Ginny Cook, WOW amazing cookies and beautifully decorated. Such a different ballgame. read more

Was very excited to bring the treats home to my family. Every single item was stale or overcooked. The macaroons were so hard you couldn't even bite into them. The cupcakes were dry and had no taste. Read about the reasons to NOT use this bakery. 1. The staff does not have their customers best interest in mind. They all tell you different prices and different information. You may be told by one person that the price is lower and that they need a certain amount of notice and then another person that that notice is too short, they can't find your paperwork; AND then tell you they can do it after leaving you on hold forever and the price is over $100 more. Not good for anyone that is meticulous in having events just right. 2. The art looks pretty, but the cake itself is not great. 3. The employees are not sincere. There are many other bakeries that can do the same thing for half the price and the cake itself is much better quality. $400 is astronomical especially for the poor service. Everything was great at first. Prompt, thorough communication (all via email), order was ready at the necessary pickup time, packaged neatly and seemingly no issues. Wasn't until after serving we discovered the requested fillings of the cupcakes were wrong. I emailed the bakery to inform them of the mishap and inquire about a way to reconcile the incorrect order after the fact - email exchange attached. Unless they managed to sneak into my house and bite into the cupcakes I'm not sure how they could confirm they didn't mess up, so I called thinking a phone conversation would get us to a quicker solution. The person I spoke with said that this was not the kind of mistake they would make and that I would need to bring the cupcakes in to prove I'm not making it up. I explained the party took place near their bakery but I do not live or work nearby so it would be very hard to make it to their shop before close at 6. So I didn't make it and at this point it's just not worth the hassle/inconvenience to drive all the way to their shop to cut into a cupcake. I mean really, have a day off. So, if you want to order cupcakes from them with a strawberry mousse filling and you have one and it's just plain cream, be prepared for them to imply that you have no taste buds or eyeballs.
