Stopped by Sweet Wheat after Pilates on a weekday morning and had such a nice experience. I ordered the French omelet with warm fresh bread and added the French butter, which was definitely worth it. I sat outside in the street-facing patio seating, which is a great place to relax and enjoy downtown Culver City for a bit. Quiet enough to work on my laptop, plus free Wi-Fi. There was also a French family sitting nearby, which really added to the atmosphere. Not exactly replacing a trip to Paris, but close enough for a weekday morning in Culver City. Joe, who took my order and brought out the food, was especially kind and attentive. He even helped open the umbrella for my table, which I appreciated. I also grabbed a madeleine, a baguette, and a canelé to go. Everything was delicious. Already told friends and family about the pastries. Very friendly service, solid food, and an easy spot to spend a slow morning. Looking forward to coming back.

Absolutely adorable spot, the decoration, the seats, the vases, all of it is just dreamy. I love the outdoors option too. The prices at the most reasonable and the quality is incredible. This is my go to spot for feeling fancy! Of course, the staff is patient, friendly , and helpful. What a gem!

I really wanted to like Sweet Wheat after seeing it online, but their pastries are just not good. It was about $25 for 4 (they run a B3G1 promo). The hazelnut opera cake had potential, but something about the chocolate tasted artificial and too sweet. Both the pear and apple tartlets were soggy. We could only take one bite of the lemon meringue tart before tossing it. Their espresso drinks are fine. They're made from a beverage machine. The cafe itself is stunning, and the service was great, but I can't say their pastries are worth trying.

Very cute interior, loved the decor!! The assortment for pastries is good, lots of mini ones too. The pricing is decent from $2.50-$9 Service is very friendly and quick too. Croissants were just okay not amazingly flaky, but everything looks delicious.

First off, I must reveal that Murphy the Doodle and I were just minding our own business, taking a walk in Culver City yesterday when we stumbled upon Sweet Wheat, an artisan French Bakery and Bistro on Culver Blvd. Sweet Wheat was created by French brothers Romain and Alexandre Lecat who were raised near Paris and trained at l' Ecole de Boulangerie et de Patisserie de Paris. Their baked goods use non-GMO flour and bring the tradition of Paris to Culver City and Redondo Beach. Every croissant is hand-rolled and the warmth of French hospitality can be felt from the moment you walk into the beautiful dining area or lovely outside patio. Breads are beautifully displayed and include freshly made baguettes, Country Sourdough, Olive Rosemary Sourdough, Apricot Raisin Sourdough, Cranberry and Walnut Sourdough, and French Dinner Rolls-all under $10. The breads and sandwiches (Smoked Salmon, Chicken Pesto, Parisian Ham and Cheese, etc) are something to be marveled at but the pastry case is where I lost my willpower. Croissants abound and also come in mini sizes. They are light and flaky, buttery and delicious served as a Ham and Cheese warmed sandwich. The Palmiers made from puff pastry, french Isigny butter (i use this at home-addicitng!) and cane sugar are delicious, crunchy, and not too sweet. The stand alone in the pastry case is the Kougin Amann-laminated puff pastry and Isigny butter-and OMG this deserves a star on the Walk of Fame. This is honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten. Isigny bytter comes from grass-fed cows, has coarse salt and costs $17 for 8 oz. It better be good! And it is. I may or may not have bought 3 more. Macarons abound in flavors like vanilla, raspberry, lemon, pistachio, chocolate, and red velvet plus many more. Tartlets, quiche, soups, and salads round out the menu. I cannot wait to return to this little jewel box.

Honestly, a bit disappointed with my overall experience here. I expected something different. I thought you went down the line and ordered your pastries, coffee, quick breakfast items, etc. and then sat yourself. I didn't realize it was full service, sit down. But we adapt. Our waiter Sal, was great. Only waiter on shift, working both the inside and outside. I ordered the French omelette. Very basic. Nothing to ooh and aah over. Came with a simple side salad and toast. Disappointment #1: the toast does not come with butter. If you want butter, you have to pay for it because it is extra special French butter. I would suggest that basic butter be offered with the option to upgrade for a fee. Disappointment #2: no refills on coffee. What. I feel like butter and coffee are two of the cheapest things to provide with a meal, yet made such an impact with me. We were seriously flabbergasted that these things were not provided. Took home a chocolate mousse, mini chocolate croissant and this special French butter. I hoped the mousse would be more authentically French, it was not. The croissant was fine. Salted butter is good. Will I be back? Realistically, probably not. Bonus: Service was good, outdoor patio is nice. I love European seating style. Bogus: still stuck on the no butter and no coffee refills.

This restaurant is so inviting, there is French piano music playing and they have some have mini fried flowers at each table. This restaurant is open and spacious. You order at the counter, do not forget to sign up for rewards you get $5 off on your second purchase plus other discounts so it's worth signing up. The service was fast and helpful and they even signed me up for the rewards quickly at the register. The pastry case is mesmerizing and tall items can be heated for you if. If I ever need bread again I know where I'm going, this place has such wonderful looking baked goods. The juices appear to be popular as many people around me got the orange juice. I got the smoked salmon avocado crossaint sandwich and the person at the register even added in a complementary mini pastry, they seem to be very generous and were also handing those mini pastries out to some small children in line as well. I saw they also have a daily happy hour with wine cocktails and German beers. I spotted a $23 bottomless mimosa on the menu for one hour per person, you get prosecco and fresh squeezed orange juice as long as you are seated and order food as well. I will for sure be back.

Have you ever walked into an establishment and wanted to eat everything? This was my experience at here. They do a beautiful job of displaying their baked goods. Their lighting is warm and inviting. Even better, they have different specials which are displayed on the overhead menu board. They also have a rewards program so make sure to sign up before you go. They have these delicious croutons that they make themselves out of leftover bread and you could taste the freshness of the herbs. They are so delicious. I tried a sample last time I went. I usually park across the street at the Trader Joe's parking structure.

I visited right around when they first opened and fell in love. It's great having such a nice and new restaurant in culver city. The prices are slightly higher than normal, but I think that's just par for the course of living in Los Angeles nowadays. One lovely thing I noticed is that they sell french butter as well. So, if you're looking for some really well made butter at $10.00 each, then you've found your place!

Newly opened, Sweet Wheat is sure to become a neighborhood gem. Modeled as a classic French patisserie, the cafe offers much more than that. There are the pastries and breads, of course, but for those who want something more, there's enough options (soups, sandwiches, pizzas, bowls, etc) to have a satisfying meal. Service is friendly and quick. The vibe is definitely reminiscent of a modern French cafe.

Ambiance: it's a spacious corner spot bakery and brunch place, large outdoor seating area, and plenty of sofa seats inside, there isn't any clear sign and order, such as chaotic system for ordering and picking up, and their dirty utensils were concerning Service: disorganized and loud noises, hard to hear what the cashiers said, both the customers and staff have to walk through different sections for pastry, sandwiches, other breads, and coffee to place the order, which made it so difficult for multiple customers to place orders at the same time Food & Drink: overwhelming items on their menu, and there's no clear instruction Smoked Salmon Sandwich - ** Avocado Crème Fraîche, Romaine Lettuce, Tomatoes, Atlantic Smoked Salmon, and Chives, missing ingredients and bread was so dry Chicken Pesto Panini - *** NutFree Pesto, Olive Oil, Arugula, Tomatoes, Stracciatella Cheese, NonGMO FreeRange Chicken, and Fresh Basil, average taste Millefeuille Vanille - **** Caramelized Laminated Puff Pastry, French Isigny Butter and Vanilla Custard Cream, crispy and creamy, recommend Raspberry Tart - *** Shortcrust Tartlet, Almond Cream, Tahitian Vanilla Cream, Mixed Berries Jam, and Raspberries, average taste Medium Roast - *** drip coffee Cappuccino - * tasted so watery Price: mediocre taste and overpriced for the quality, expect $25+ per person

The dining area was beautiful and comfortable to sit and enjoy our lunch. Service is friendly and our server was very patient with us 3 trying to decide what to order! The baked goods are delicious and the sandwiches and the kitchen menu was delicious and fresh.

Visited this place early before 9 am. Place looked beautiful. Peaceful. Like the perfect place to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee. Spacious both inside and outside. There is plenty of parking available, I could see it being quite difficult on the weekends though. The place was not too busy but it felt that way because there were only 2 servers. So it took a minute to order. Not a problem, in fact I thought my server was quite nice. But I did feel as if she felt the pressure of the line building up, I too felt a bit rushed. This only sucks cause as a first timer and with so much to choose from, I like to ask for recommendations. Ordered a Wagyu Short Ribs Cheese Panini and a Parisian Sandwich. Both of which I felt lacked a lot of taste and texture. The chew of the bread was tough, lacked salt and was missing that aroma I love . I ordered my sandwiches hot and to go. I only traveled a couple of miles by car and when I got home my sanwiches were already cold. Didn't even look like they had been toasted. I must admit that the only thing I liked about my Parisian sandwich was the butter spread. Ordered a few pastries. A few apple turnovers, croissants, and a couple of brioche donuts filled with vanilla custard. The apple turnovers have nice flaky texture but it's butter aftertaste was a bit overwhelming. I love butter but this was not a great taste. The apple filling could have been just a little sweeter. Same with the custard, I could hardly taste the sweetness or vanilla. The donut was a bit dry. I also ordered a vanilla latte. It was ok. Not great. The coffee was hardly hot and didn't not taste like much. I'm sorry. I was so excited for this place, but after eating the turnover and half of my sandwich, all I can taste is butter. I wish it would have been better.

PARKING We lucked out with street parking right in front. It's limited, and I can see it getting tight on weekends, but doable with patience. PASTRIES & CAKES PRINCESS CAKE - $6.50 I ordered this slice for my birthday, and it absolutely delivered. Alternating layers of airy sponge cake, vanilla custard, and house-made raspberry jam, topped with a dome of whipped cream and finished in light green almond paste. Every bite was balanced--rich but never cloying. Perfect texture, perfect sweetness. Rating: 5/5 RASPBERRY LEMON MOUSSE CAKE - $6.50 An indulgent combination of fresh raspberries and mousse layered with feather-light sponge cake brushed in lemon syrup. Finished with bits of raspberry-infused Valrhona chocolate, this cake hits that ideal sweet-tart balance. Bright, elegant, and not overly sweet--exactly how dessert should be. Rating: 5/5 SPANDAUER - $3.50 Understated and refined. Almond paste, custard, and crunchy almond flakes come together beautifully. Soft meets crisp in all the right ways. Rating: 4/5 KRINGLE - $3.50 A flaky pastry filled with almond paste and custard, topped with sugar and almond flakes. Simple, comforting, and executed perfectly. Excellent with coffee. Rating: 4.5/5 OVERALL Warm, friendly service paired with exceptional pastries and cakes. This place nails balance, flavor, and texture without relying on excess sweetness. There is a full-service restaurant and bar perfect for grabbing a pint and a meal, and a dedicated bakery on the right side where you can pick up empanadas and sweets. During my recent visit to the bakery, I ordered three empanadas and a Beef Milanesa sandwich. It had been a few years since I'd had a Milanesa, and this version was quite solid -- it's essentially what would happen if a chicken fried steak and a chicken cutlet had a baby. The Beef Milanesa ($19.25), it features a breaded, very thin eye of the round beef. Since this is a bakery, the French Baguette is front and center, offering a great bite. It's pretty simple with the tomato, lettuce and mustard. While I would definitely eat it again, it isn't necessarily a destination sandwich I'd drive across town for, but it's a very satisfying choice. For the side, I went with the staff member's recommendation of French Fries over the salad. It was the right move; the shoestring fries were perfectly seasoned, hitting that ideal balance of crispy and soft. Spinach Artichoke: A flavorful blend of extra virgin olive oil, whole milk mozzarella, spinach, artichoke hearts, and caramelized onions. Spicy Beef: Made with halal beef, sweet onions, and a kick from three different types of chilies. Chicken Mushroom: Features halal chicken thigh (ground in-house by hand) with roasted mushrooms and fresh herbs. The empanadas ($3.50 each) were excellent and truly the primary reason to visit. The Spinach Artichoke and Spicy Beef were my personal favorites. I'll definitely be back soon to work my way through the rest of the empanada menu. With so many hipster restaurants popping up in the area, don't overlook this local gem. Whether you're in for the bakery treats or a hearty sandwich, you won't be disappointed.
