Cute little French bakery in Culver City with a small selection of pastries like: croissants (regular, almond, and ham and cheese), kouign-amann, caneles, palmiers, and danishes. There's some outdoor seating in addition to a few tables inside. There were two people working when I came in on a Saturday afternoon, and they were both friendly and informative. They also have drinks but I was mainly interested in the baked goods. I got the kouign-amann, almond croissant, and canele. The kouign-amann was so flaky, rich, and the perfect amount of sweetness and buttery goodness. The hardened sugar on the bottom of the pastry added a nice crunch, and I loved how it wasn't overly sweet. The almond croissant had a decadent filling, very strong almond flavor, and light dusting of powdered sugar and slivered almonds. It was sweet compared, but not too sweet. This was my first time trying a canele - the workers told me that the inside is similar to a crepe batter, and the outside has a dark caramel coating. The inside was custardy and not too rich, does remind me of a crepe, and the outside was an almost bitter caramel flavor. I personally liked the caramel outside, but it was a bit too burnt/bitter for my partner. Took me back to Paris when I had some of the best croissants, where its perfectly flaky & delicious. I tried the original, the raspberry filling, as well as the ham and cheese. I am always on the hunt to try baked goodies. Decided to come to Des Croissants Paris because of their chouquettes, which are not commonly found at most bakeries. Chouquettes are airy French pastry made from choux dough and covered with crunchy pearl sugar. They are essentially like cream puffs without the cream filling inside. It's light, airy and subtly sweet from the sugar crystals on top. I also tried their original, plain, croissant, which was flaky on the outside and had a light butter flavoring. It was on the drier side though, but glad it was not oily and it did not leave my hands covered in grease afterwards. I've definitely had better croissants They do sell tea beverages, but no coffee or lattes. I asked the owner if he can add milk to the tea to make it into a "latte-like" drink and he was very hesitant to. He even gave me the feeling of "what a weird request." I sent my mom to get their choquettes, and asked her to go again. And she said, "why? There's no parking, the customer service is bad, its small, and their pastries arent even that good." I'm a recovering southern France foodie, and by that, I mean i had just come back from a 2 week long excursion in the Mediterranean, where I was the epitome of American gluttony. The store is cute and gives off that French vibe. The service is very friendly and helpful (OK that's the one big change from (most) of the Paris stores), and then food.. omg the food.. utter perfection ‍ (If you can't see the emojis, its a chefs kiss). I devoured the Pain au Chocolat immediately with my own coffee, got up, and ordered another, plus a traditional croissant, and the last baguette. Y'all, I kid you not, I cleaned out the bag. One of my absolute favorite vendors at the Mar Vista Sunday Farmers Market! I haven't made it to their brick-and-mortar yet, but I've been enjoying their pastries from the Mar Vista Farmers Market on Sundays and I'm hooked. Some of their items sell out fast, so if you plan to visit, go early! I keep meaning to stop by their main shop, but they usually close before I get off work during the week. Let's talk about the pastries, pure perfection. The brownie is super moist and fudgy, literally melts in your mouth. Then there's the blueberry danish, which reminds me of a danish topped with the best part of a blueberry muffin, absolutely amazing! I've only had it once and have been dreaming of it ever since. Their Basque cheesecake was another gem I only caught once, and I've been on the lookout every Sunday hoping it returns. They also have delicious croissants (regular and chocolate), cookies, and these raspberry mini cakes that I can never resist. Everything I've tried has been phenomenal, you really can't go wrong here. I'm hoping to try their savory pastries soon, especially the spinach and cheese and tomato and cheese ones that always catch my eye. Service is consistently wonderful. Have been looking for the best of the best croissants in LA and didn't realize this one was practically in my backyard! Small French bakery that feels a little hidden along that Washington Boulevard corridor in Culver City. I saw somewhere that they have really good croissants here along with other French baked goods and I had to check it out. Parking was fairly easy to find especially on a weekend morning. I was a little surprised because I thought it was going to be a little more crowded. The lady who I can only assume is the proprietor was very friendly and sweet. I ordered a croissant, some coffee, and a baguette to go. The croissant is so flakey and buttery. Seriously so good. Now, I don't make any assertions that I am a croissant expert, but all I know is that I enjoyed every bite of the croissant. Next I tried the buttery Ham and Cheese Croissant which is now on my top 10 list of the best thing I've ever eaten! The croissant was so buttery and full of ham and cheese. I devoured this and am dreaming of coming back again tomorrow for another one. Finally, I tried the Chouquette-a French pastry made from choux dough covered in crunchy pearl sugar. Los Angeles has no shortage of French pastry shops. Many are owned by French people, and many claim to be "one of a kind." Today, I finally made it to this place. I had been trying to come for the past month or two, but every single time, it was closed. They are only open Thursday through Sunday, and they close at 1:00 PM. In reality, by 12:00 PM, they are usually completely sold out. I am a native Parisian. I grew up in Paris, surrounded by pastry shops, and I have extremely high standards when it comes to French pâtisserie. All I can say is this: This place is better than most pastry shops in Paris. That is all you need to know. I have been to virtually every French pastry shop in Los Angeles, and not a single one comes close. When I say none of them, I truly mean none of them--not even remotely in terms of quality, execution, or authenticity. I am giving this place five stars without hesitation. I love Paris. The culture, architecture, food and atmosphere. The gastronomy of Paris is unbelievable and to find a decent boulangerie is definitely a task here in SoCal. Stumbled onto this little bakery and was super excited when I heard the lady behind the counter speaking English with a French accent. Although I developed a gluten intolerance, I had to transport myself back to the City of Lights by trying their kouign amann, escargot, almond croissant, pain au chocolat and ham and cheese croissant. Wow! What an amazing French bakery in Culver City! The croissants here are my favorite now in LA and they are buttery and flaky and so delicious! They have a variety of French pastries to choose from that they make daily and it feels like you are transported to Paris once you walk in through the door! When I stopped by recently one morning, I got several items which were their Kouign Amann, Spinach Panier, and a plain croissant! Everything was delicious and flaky and buttery! The Kouign Amann was rich and decadent and the croissant was full of layers and flaky and you could taste the butter! The panier was crispy and had a great amount of the filling in the middle and was a great snack. Well I'm pleased to report that if shitty bread is the problem Des Croissants Paris is the solution. Just excellent. The gal told me that they import their flower from France. We've been coming here since this bakery opened and it has never been disappointing . We recently tried the spinach and goat cheese quiche and it was 5 stars.
