"I love Sweet Briar" - the little sign on the napkin holder (see attached picture) at the ice cream cafe is accurate! We were looking for ice cream after dinner in Ambler and quickly found Sweet Briar. The line of people waiting for ice cream was an indication it must be good...and it was!! I had the Espresso Explosion, a scooped ice cream, and my partner had a cone with the chocolate soft serve. My favorite ice cream is coffee, and the Espresso exceeded my expectations! It was rich and creamy with a deep coffee flavor that was accentuated with coffee beans that were coated with chocolate! The crunch of the beans with the ice cream was definitely an 'explosion'! My partner had the chocolate soft serve - which was a creamy and chocolaty as can be - you could see tiny little specks of chocolate in the ice cream which confirmed the luscious taste! We will be returning to Ambler the next time we want an exceptional ice cream!! read more

Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience. The service was poor, and the high school girls working there provided very little customer support. They were not welcoming, helpful, or attentive, which made the overall experience frustrating. Better training and a stronger focus on customer service would make a big difference. read more

We visited SweetBriar for the first time for an ice cream treat. There are a wide variety of flavors and many other frozen treat options to indulge in. I went with the smurf which was a blue vanilla ice cream with marshmallows and chocolate chips. This is honestly my perfect combo and I thoroughly enjoyed it. J got the raspberry chip milkshake and really enjoyed it too. The tiny queen said she wanted birthday cake, but ended up snagging my waffle cone (just the cone) and took down the whole thing. I do wish there was indoor seating for those purchasing ice cream, but that's ok. We are looking forward to trying breakfast and other options here in the future. read more

This was my first visit to SweetBriar Cafe. I stopped by on a rainy morning on a day off. The place is tiny but I was seated right away. It was pretty full so I can imagine on a nice weekend morning it must get very busy. I ordered a build your own scramble with spinach, onions, mushrooms and avocado. It was nicely done, and it tasted like it was scrambled in butter making it nice and moist and silky. Great for the taste but not the waistline lol. I will certainly come back again. read more

There is also some seating there and on the adjacent lawn. I was happy to see lots of ice cream flavors to choose from...though I was a bit disappointed with the minimal chocolate flavored options available at that time. I moved away from ambler 4 years ago but every time I come back to visit family I HAVE to stop at sweetbriar. Their buffalo chicken cheesesteak is phenomenal and it is also great in a wrap form. Sweet Briar Cafe serves delicious ice-cream outside and filling meals inside. Their outside patio has a few tables with umbrellas for the sunny days this summer as well as some smaller tables. While their outside is a nice size, the inside eating space is a bit on the smaller size. From the times that I have been here, the service has always been professional. The waitress that served us didn't seem to be bothered by us asking for mayonnaise on the side or by us spilling the bill in the past. Sweet Briar serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner which I appreciate. For lunch, our meal was very well cooked. The fries and chicken tenders were crispy. With the burger being cooked to liking. I enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance here. The only downside is it feels a little cramped when inside and the food may take some time to get to you. Sweetbriar Cafe is my favorite restaurant in the Greater Philadelphia area. Every meal I've had there was excellent. Our usual go-to is the burger of the week with sweet potato fries (always very crispy and tasty). The various toppings they offer with their weekly specials are full of complementary flavor. Their desserts are excellent too - so many different flavors of milkshakes for whatever mood you are in. All of this at very reasonable prices. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

I want to start off by saying I love their ice cream and their food is very good. However, their staff isn't the most welcoming. I go there every week with friends to get ice cream. Even in 20° weather because I'm insane lol This time my experience was less than pleasant as I walked up to the ice cream window and stood there for about 5 to 10 minutes without being greeted and I was the only one there. there were multiple people working behind the counter and after standing there for 5 to 10 minutes I decided to go inside to get the ice cream as I didn't feel like waiting in 20° weather. I was then told to go back outside and go to the window as they would serve me there. I would like to preface this by saying there were a total of four customers dining there, and I would not have been impeding on anyone entering or enjoying their meal if they just served me at that counter. I would understand if this was peak season, but it was absolutely dead and we were the only ones looking to get ice cream at the time, Then a gentleman that was older came by to get ice cream as well and we told him we were waiting and that they wouldn't let us order inside, he decided that he was going to try for himself and they told him the same exact thing and they made this poor old man wait outside in the freezing weather as well. Lastly, to top off this already terrible experience, my friend ordered a large cup of ice cream and there was less ice cream in there than my medium cup of ice cream. Planned to get ice cream with family on a hot summer day. We ordered ice cream, sat in the covered area out front. After sitting for a couple of minutes the manager came over and kicked us out, Saying it was for food service. However they're closed for food service today. There were no other covered areas, So the family ice cream adventure ended up in the blistering sun with a heat index of 92°. The customer service was lackluster and not family oriented. I'm a little torn with this review! The food overall was pretty tasting but the portion size was pretty small for the price. I got avocado toast, eggs benedict, and strawberry French toast. The eggs benedict were the best. Eggs perfect consistency, although the Hollandiase sauce started separating by the time I got home. I did have a 15 min drive and the food was probably sitting for a good 10mins before I picked up too. The avocado toast was 1 piece of toast, with a really meager smear of avocado(like the amount that you would spread for butter on toast). The turkey bacon and egg was good. But that was it. A little lacking for the price that you pay for it. The strawberry French toast cost $1.50 more than the regular French toast but all I got was some sliced strawberries. She had asked if I wanted fresh strawberries or the strawberry sauce, so I knew what I was getting for the fresh strawberries but I thought there would be more pizazz. This is a great small café, the indoor seating is limited do to the size. Since the pandemic they have added outdoor seating to comply with the Covid-19 regulations. Tip for Sweet Briar is when you check in you get a glass of wine, if your not there for dinner you can save it for a later date. Which makes you want to come back and try them out for dinner. Cute county feel with fewer than a dozen tables within and an equal number out on the patio in front. Warm, friendly service with genuine willingness to refill your coffee mug as often as you like. I had an hour to kill before my next appointment, and a hunger for breakfast that needed attention. The specials board had a few interesting possibilities, but fresh fruit on a battered waffle with whipped cream seemed a bit over the top. Simple well grilled french toast was what I wanted, and the server said was excellent there. Visions began to dance. Java came hot and strong. Real milk in a small stainless pitcher hit the mark. All I needed was a great short stack to make my day. Looked perfect on the white ceramic. Darkly golden with yellow bread between the burn marks. An olive oil bottle with long spout full of syrup to address the sweetening. Nice touch. Unfortunately, the inside of the slices was dry as if it had not been conjoined with the egg bowl for long enough before touching hot steel. No eggy vanilla taste. Okay, but with more TLC it could have been a real contender, rather than the dry toast it became. I think this place can do it better when it tries harder. read more

Me and my wife absolutely loved this place. Key word is loved. However after our last experience here we will no longer come back. This review is pretty late but its definitely warranted. We were seated fairly quickly and for some reason we always get this really terrible waitress. She always seems to have an attitude and is heavyset. Unfortunately, I dont remember her name but trust me she needs to be put on blast. I try my best to make peace with this woman but she's pretty sarcastic. I honestly don't know how she still has a job. We ordered our regular meal the "The Lindenword" after 20 minutes i noticed a family seated front of us received there meal. Ok no biggie. 30 minutes passed and the family to the right of us received their meal. Now im getting heated. After 45 mintues a family towards the end of the restuarant received their meal? I called my waitress over to ask what was taking so long and she stated the food would be out shortly. Im sorry but its been 45 mintues and 3 families who arrived after us received their meal. This math not adding up. Beyond frustrated i spoke to the manager. He apologized for the mishap and i mentioned that we will pay for the coffee but we were leaving. He offered we take the food home on the house. I didnt want it. I mentioned that i wasnt coming back and he gave me a 30 dollar credit for our next meal. Honestly feel bad for him because i can see in his face he didnt want to lose a customer but you need to realize when you have really terrible people on your staff. That waitress needs to keep her miserable self at home. She shouldn't be in the food industry. Maybe she has an issue with black people. Its not many of us that visit this establishment. Add in that 30 dollar credit is under my chair somewhere collecting dust. I thought i would treat my son to some icecream but it would be my luck that that waitress is in ice cream duty and that thought scares the crap outta me. Their cheesesteaks and Burgers are amazing.
