I went later in the day Wednesday and the inside was messy! Disappointing as sweetFrog is typically spotless.

I have frequented Sweet Frog for over six years. During the summer, I typically visit twice a week, spending a minimum of $10 item. That's approximately $20 a week, totaling about $80 a month. Yesterday, I decided to celebrate with some frozen yogurt. When I went to the restroom, I noticed packaged toilet paper sitting on top of the paper towel dispenser. That probably should have been my first red flag. Both toilet paper dispensers were empty, and instead of restocking them, someone had simply left two unopened rolls on top of the paper towel dispenser. I only washed my hands and then proceeded to complete my purchase. The cashier (a different employee, but this was the second time this week) did not greet me while I was standing in front of the candy toppings. I assumed someone else would come out to assist me. I placed my cup on the scale, and that's when she walked over and asked, "Is that all you'll have today?" I was confused because I was clearly holding an ice cream cone in my left hand. I simply raised my hand to show her the cone. She then said, "Let me grab the cone stand so I can weigh it." After I paid, I still had to ask her for a lid and a bag. She then grabbed a lid and a closed paper bag and tried to hand them to me. I raised both hands again and asked if she could place the lid on my cup of frozen yogurt since she had moved it to her side of the counter to make room for the cone stand. She smirked, said, "Sure," and dropped the receipt. I told her I didn't need the receipt, so she didn't have to worry about it. She finally placed the lid on the cup, and I still had to help her put the cup into the paper bag while I was holding the cone in my other hand. During the transaction, I seriously considered asking for a refund on the cup because the frustration she displayed after I requested a lid and a bag was disrespectful and rude. Those are basic parts of customer service and should not feel like an inconvenience for a paying customer. Needless to say, it might be time for me to find another Sweet Frog. I literally drive through two cities to visit the Suffolk location because of its cleanliness and good customer service. Unfortunately, I am no longer willing to spend $80 a month at an establishment where employees act as though performing the bare minimum of their job description is an inconvenience. 2 poor experience, 4 days apart, by 2 different employees at the same location .... I take it as a sign. NO THANK YOU!!! read more

This place is the perfect treat for any occasion; after school treat, a date, summer cool off, or just because. The frozen yogurts & treat are priced by weight, so you serve yourself any flavor yogurt & add all the toppings then weigh & pay. There is plenty of seating with all varieties; regular tables, bar stools at the windows, & tables & chairs outside with umbrellas. The restrooms are clean & well stocked. The radio is a family friendly mix and is at the perfect level. The service was great with a smile. Can't go wrong here! Let's see those amazing creations!! read more

On 2/6/25, I went to Sweet Frog located at in Suffolk, Harbour View area in Virginia to get some froyo as I have done many times over the past number of years. I wanted to have a treat for my child when she got home from school. Sweet Frog is her favorite. Prior to going, I received an auto-generated text message on my phone from #50956 at 1113 this morning advising, Buy One Froyo, Get One FREE for National Froyo Day" After paying for my purchase, I was leaving the store when I heard a woman behind me asking for sample cups. The same person that checked me out, volunteered to her, "today is buy one get one". I heard this as I was walking out the door and realized that my price seemed kind of steep, so I didn't think that I got my discount. I went to my vehicle, pulled out my receipt just to check and noticed indeed, I was charged for both cups of yogurt, not just one. I went back into the store and back to the same person that checked me out. I advised her that I realized she charged me for both cups, and I didn't get the buy one get one free deal. She asked me, "did you have a coupon or text?" I replied yes, a text on my phone. She then said, "the text specifically says, you have to mention it before you check out". I told her I'd go get my phone and she could prove what she was saying to be true. Prior to me coming to the store, I knew this was not true, as I've utilized this deal various times in the past. I went and got my phone, showed her the text and asked her to point out where it said I had to mention it. She refused to look at my phone and acknowledge my message or to show me what she was talking about (because it didn't exist). Instead, she threatened me by saying, "do you want me to keep the ice cream?!" I told her she couldn't keep anything because I paid for it and she wasn't going to talk to me as if she was reprimanding me due to her overcharging me. She then said, "well, what do you want me to do about it?" I told her to give me my refund. I then handed her my receipt. She started looking at the employee standing next to her and started to shake her head from left to right while she stood at the register with my receipt, doing nothing else. I asked for her name., she promptly responded, "I'm the owner here, I don't have to tell you my name". I told her that since she was the owner, her name would not be hard to find. She then told me, "Well, I'm going to just call the police". I told her to help herself, as I wasn't doing anything wrong. I was simply standing at the register waiting for her to refund me my money (I'm sure all this can be backed up by looking at video footage from the store). She then went outside and made a phone call. I went outside as well, and told her that if she was going to be talking about me on the phone, I wanted to know what lies she'd be telling so I'd be outside too. She then said to whomever she was talking to (assumed police), "she's black, she's wearing dark blue leggings and a black Columbia jacket". I then started to record her talking. She tried to block my phone and reached for it. I told her, she would not touch my phone. She then went inside the store into an "employees only" door and continued talking over the phone. She lied and said, yes, she has a gun" while behind the door (I caught this as well on my video recording). When she came from behind the closed door, she started telling me that I couldn't touch her, although I never was trying to. However, this also was caught on my recorded video. I ended up leaving the store after not receiving my refund but obtaining what seemed to be a Sweet Frog human-mascot who decided to put in her two cents. Upon researching, I learned that the owner's name. She is over the stores in Suffolk, Newport News and Yorktown, VA. She's an entrepreneur in various capacities and has even won some awards. What she doesn't show to people who are fans or friends of hers is that she's not honest, she calls the police on others when she herself is the one in the wrong, and she lies and says that people have guns on their person when they don't. She also threatened to "ban me from the store", as if I'd want to patronize anything that she owns after being treated so rudely today. The worker who was standing with her today has seen me and my child many times over the years and know that she's never seen me have any issues with anyone. However today she chose to remain cricket silent and not say one word, although her "manager" was the one in the wrong, not me. This "owner" has been reported to various sources that she is affiliated with. This establishment has lost a loyal customer. I will not return to this establishment until I am personally taking over this franchise and seeing Ms. VBM and her employee who chose to stay mute today, out the door! read more

However there's a younger female employee with dark hair that is the driest, rudest person I've met in hospitality in a while. She is often nowhere to be found and I've had to call out several times for assistance. She's very unpleasant and brings the whole place down. read more

This Sweet Frog like all the others that I have been to was nice and enjoyable. They have 14 different flavors of frozen yogurt and most are low-fat or nonfat and even a Vegan option. There are tons of toppings to choose from and at a pretty decent price if your cup is not loaded down. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the employees were very nice and helpful. The inside did get a little full but there was still room for everybody. They offer a Military Discount but on available on Monday's which was not a problem. The place was nice and clean and we enjoyed our time here. They were quick to clean up behind the large group of pre-teens that left and even replaced the drip catchers. read more

Doesn't taste like frozen yogurt to me! My kids and I love Sweet Frog! And really I love the hours. Seven days a week you can have frozen yogurt until 10-11pm at night. That's my type of spot! Reminds me of New York. There are some dope flavors to choose from including coffee, cake batter, Irish mint, cookies and cream, strawberry, coconut, pineapple, and peanut butter! So so so good! The toppings including waffle cone pieces, cookie pieces, so many types of candies, brownies, cake, fruit, poppers, whipped cream, and many different syrups. This reminds me of daycare decor for some reason -- but don't let that detract you. Yogurt: now here's where it gets fun. At most places you have the ice cream/yogurt poured/scooped for you. Here, it's a self serve setup. Walk in, grab a cup size pour your yogurt and keep it moving to the toppings bar. There's like 14 different favors that change daily. Flavors like cappuccino, raspberry, cake batter, original tart, strawberry, cheesecake and cookies and cream, just to name a few. Toppings are plentiful and abundant. I got cookies and cream yogurt and tossed some Reese's peanut butter cups and crushed peanuts on it. I walked past the fresh fruit toppings and got to the syrup topping station. I didn't even look or attempt to count the choices as there were too many. But for the elite epicurean, trust me when I say this, there are PLENTY of topping options! With that said, I poured some chocolate sauce over the top of my creation in the making and then placed it on the digital scale. WOW! Took the kiddos here Friday after school. To say that it's a popular place, would be a massive understatement. Clean, bright and fun. It's a bit pricey for an afterschool snack, so we limit how much we do things like this. They loved the place, my daughter declared it, "Best ice cream ever in my life". I think that they love being able to put on whatever toppings they imagine. They have about 5 machines, all with different flavors. Sweet Frog's is a DIY yogurt bar with a great selection of flavors and a decent amount of toppings. They use the YoCream brand of yogurt mixes, so the number of flavors the company can rotate through is quite large, and the quality is top notch. I've found that YoCream tends to have the smoothest frozen yogurt and the best flavors. That being said, the place was packed, which really took away from our enjoyment. The staff was the typical high-school or college summer job crowd with barely par customer service. They did say, "Hey," when we made our way to the counter, but I certainly was never thanked for the patronage. I get it; it's a yogurt bar. But when the only direct interaction with the staff is at the register, those few seconds matter to me. Seating is moderate at best. Since it was packed, we were very luck to get a table. The problem was that the place was so darn loud that I actually had to yell at my wife to have a conversation. The hardwood floors just echo the noise. It wasn't until we had finished our (very yummy!) yogurt and were outside that I realized my ears were actually ringing. The cramped nature of the place is made a little worse by the actual interior design. If you're setting at the tables by the yogurt machines (that's half the tables in the place!), you're going to get bumped by people trying to fill their cups. Since the current flavors are not conspicuously posted (maybe not even posted at all - I don't know!), you also can't easily see what flavors are available without walking down the line of machines. Overall, it's a nice place for yogurt. The atmosphere when it's busy leaves a lot to be desired. read more

LOVE this place. I am a huge fan of their plain tart yogurt. They have a great variety of flavors and toppings. I was really impressed by how fresh their fruit was for the toppings. I love to load mine with fresh raspberries and blackberries, and many fro-yo places you can tell the berries have been previously frozen or not the best quality. But these were as fresh as they can get. Since it's right around the corner from where I live, I think this will have to be a usual place to hit! We decided to try this location out and were pleasantly surprised. You do have to ask for sample cups, but there were several flavors that sounded good. The variety of toppings was good but we really liked the special sauces they had. I got apple pie yogurt and put some hot caramel and cinnamon sauce on it. Oh my goodness, that cinnamon only needed a little but went a long way and it was one of the best frozen yogurts I have had in awhile. As you might imagine, it is a great place for kids. It's not very big so I would think that large groups would be difficult. After going to the sweet frog located inside of Kings Dominion, my daughter was excited when she found the sweet frog near us. Upon arriving we notice it was very clean and girlie just like she likes it. We were glad to have many selections of frozen yogurt. She tried the cheesecake and I had the plain frozen yogurt. When we got to the topping bar I was very satisfied with how many choices we were offered and how fresh everything looked. After putting our toppings on it was time to dig in. My new fave fro yo spot! The other local frozen yogurt place (Kiwi Yo) is just good, but Sweet Frog is great. I'm not sure if they buy a higher quality product or not, but their frozen yogurt is as smooth as silk (not gritty or harsh), which isn't often the case with yogurt, and you can really taste the difference. I always compare the Tart flavor at places and if you can get the taste perfectly along with the smooth silky texture of Pinkberry, to me, you are frozen yogurt perfection. They have flavors such as Thin Mint girl scout cookies, cake batter, dulce de leche, etc as well as all the classics. Their toppings bar is as plentiful and fresh as the competition and their restaurant space is just as spunky and fun. I haven't seen their rate posted but I believe it is comparable to Kiwi Yo, so I am giving it the full 5 stars because they were able to perfect the Original Tart flavor so well. We have been visiting this location since they opened several years ago. Every cup of frozen yogurt has been consistently great. Store is clean inside & out every time. All machines have been on and full of great tasting yogurt every time. The big tell is that they are almost always busy, even in the winter months. Hmmm... Sweet Frogs are pretty uniform in their service and product provision--I'd suspect it's a little hard to mess up. For some reason, the yogurt here, particularly the Tart just tasted off--there was nothing tart about it--instead it tasted a little bland--like a yogurt base without the flavor, maybe? The fruit was all a little runny and mushy for what I'm use to, but I suspect this location doesn't exactly get a huge surges of business. read more
