Pros: are they have some really great salad combinations and protein plate options. If anything, you can look at the menu and get some ideas of salads to make it home. Good for a quick lunch. Good size you could even share it if you're not that hungry. Cons are all the ingredients are administered by machines. So you're definitely getting a controlled amount of each item. So it doesn't feel personal at all. It feels kind of like a cafeteria. Although it's very clean. And very environment, friendly. Nice for a quick lunch or easy to go salad. read more

I hate ordering at a kiosk and not with a human. Then I wanted a steak plate, too bad they ran out of steak at 12:40 p.m. Then I ordered a bowl that had sweet potatoes in it. No again. This location is in a shopping center with plenty of parking. Inside is spacious and very well kept. My bf & I came in the afternoon to this beautiful location. It's at the corner of a huge plaza in HB where theres plenty of parking. They have self service kiosk & a cashier there too. Lots of tables and cute booth seats with chill music playing. We got the hot honey chicken bowl which was delicious but it wasn't enough sauce to cover up & chicken was so dry. There was a lot of quinoa base taking over salad side making my bowl more dry I almost choked a bit. Wish there were more protein & sweet potato portion in my bowl only had a handful of pieces. Kiosk didn't give option for me to mix my bowl & almost every topping had an up charge that may or may not have been too much for it. Perks: big portions & lots of healthy food options! Decent prices around between $12-$25+ depending what bowls on set menu or how you build your bowl before add on. Near the beach! My first time trying this place after seeing it all this time! There's definitely a lot of healthy looking options to choose from that all sound yummy. I tried the Guacamole Greens. Was definitely disappointed at how dry the chicken was :/ I needed more sauce than the tiny container of sauce they gave us. The lime didn't do me any justice either because it was also dry. My saving grace was the pickled onions because it added another layer of flavor to it. Otherwise, there are definitely better options to choose from here that I would have to check out. read more

Just came from a matinee movie on a Sunday early evening and stopped at Mendocino Farms on Harbor in Costa Mesa . Didn't like their menu (no meat or plates) and decided to drive across town to Sweetgreen at 5 Points Plaza in HB. Went inside and employee directed us to the Order Kiosk upfront. Two of the apps weren't working. Told employee and he came out grudgingly and didn't seem to know what was wrong. Third app finally got us thru some add ons for the protein plate that I wanted and a bowl she wanted. Unfortunately no steak or meat was available and it's only 5:00 pm. Employees too busy doing To Go's in back and didn't seem to care. This was the first and LAST time I will ever consider Sweetgreen. read more

I order sweetgreen whenever I'm indecisive on what to eat, they have so many options I can't ever get tired of them. I used to be a sweet pass member and was initially sad they got rid of it, but then after being a goat member for so long, I'm obsessed with their points rewards, sometimes they have challenges to receive more points. I like to hoard points the way a squirrel hoards nuts. Whenever I'm feeling fancy, I'll redeem a focaccia or a drink using my points. They make it really easy to earn points which I love. Goat members get free delivery once a week, so whenever I feel the urge to be a hermit, I can always rely on getting my salad fix free of a delivery charge. That's a win for me. And the black bag just makes me feel so elite I almost hate myself for it, almost. They also have fancy ice which I'm OBSESSED with, and their house made lemonades are top shelf. Even the cups are beautifully shaped, the tops are my favorite, with the cellulose straws there's no way for the straw to get caught on the lid like a regular straw opening Chinese finger trap. They thought that one out perfect. The customer support on the app is pretty awesome, whenever if I ever have any issues with my order, I'm always taken care of. Also, as a calligrapher, I really love the calligraphy chalk board they update with their sourced ingredients, it's a lovely personal touch and beautifully done, this location is one of my favorites. This is my go to place for a quick, clean and filling lunch. There are numerous iPads to order on and the food comes out quite fast. My go to is the crispy rice bowl with the miso salmon as my protein if I want to switch it up. There is now ripple chips on the menu with a garlic aioli and pickle ketchup that is to die for. I did mark off 1 star due to some inconsistencies after coming here a handful of times. The carrots are sometimes shredded and other times sliced into rounds. And the cilantro is either up very large inedible stems or chopped small. My portions of arugula have varied from enough to feed 2 people to a small portion barely enough to feed 1. Maybe there is something going on with the machines but I hope to get the same quality every time I go here. read more

First off, big thanks to Hayley and OC Yelp for having me at this cool event! As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by the friendly staff and let them know I was there for the Yelp event. Eric, who was working behind the counter, asked if I'd been to Sweetgreen before--and I admitted it was my first time. The restaurant has a great vibe--nicely decorated both inside and out, with a clean and modern feel. To order, you use a self-service kiosk, which was super easy to navigate (way better than my recent Taco Bell kiosk disaster!). You can fully customize your bowl, adding or removing ingredients with ease. I went with the Caramelized Steak Bowl--mainly because beef was the only option available at the time--and it was served pretty quickly after placing my order. The bowl was delicious! I especially loved the pesto sauce, which paired perfectly with the wild rice. The steak was flavorful and tender--no complaints there. The only thing I didn't care for was the sweet potatoes--next time, I'll swap them out for something else. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and can't wait to come back. I was excited to try this place, and Mr. B met me for lunch after an appointment. He was more positive than I was, so a mixed review. I get this place is modern and innovative as it is self serve, and for the most part the bowls and salads are put together by machines on a conveyer type line. Great for a quick grab and go lunch. They do have tables inside, on the patio and two or three tables out front, so plenty of spots to eat lunch. When you walk in you are met with a long oval table with tablets for ordering. I ordered the Shroomami bowl, it was supposed to be roasted tofu, warm portobello mix, basil, roasted almonds, shredded kale, shredded cabbage, cucumbers, and wild rice with a miso sesame ginger dressing. I don't like cucumbers, so substituted garbanzo beans for the cucumbers. I also ordered the dressing on the side. Not what I got! It was a bowl of chopped kale, not shredded, no basil, 6 mushrooms, 4 pieces of tofu, no cabbage, maybe a tablespoon of wild rice, and no almonds. The dressing was not on the side it was tossed in the bowl. It truly was a bowl of chopped kale. I could do that at home for much less that the $14.95. Mr. B ordered the Chicken Avocado bowl, and he really enjoyed his, said it was full of flavor and it had all the ingredients on it and it looked just like the photo on the tablet. But he also agreed, not worth the $14.95 price tag. We watched the bowls go down the line while machines dropped in the ingredients, and a young woman put lids on and handed them to us. How I imagine 3D printed food tastes honestly. If you've ever seen Snowpiercer, this is what they fed the inmates but in a congealed form.

I ate at sweetgreen in many other locations (Philadelphia, DC, Palo Alto) and the food was always great so I was super excited when this location opened in HB. Unfortunately, unlike the other locations the preparation appears to be made by machines and not by humans. Although a great idea on paper, the execution is terrible. I ordered 10+ times in plenty of combinations (salads and bowls) and never did the food come out as it should be. The ingredient proportions are completely off - if you get a salad or bowl it's always 85% base and 15% toppings. Even if you order more servings of the same ingredient, and pay for additional toppings you would still never change the base / toppings ratio. To the owner of this location: please switch to human service. We don't have a lot of healthy options in HB but unfortunately I won't be reordering from here until I see humans making my salad. read more

first time ever trying sweet green and i wasn't too sure what to expect! we decided to randomly visit as we were driving passed it. when we walked in, we were a bit confused as we assumed it would've been similar to a Cava or Chipotle experience.. there's ipads for you to order at, and you have the option to pay with cash (at the cashier) or card. this whole place is automated, so you're not gonna get much human interaction here with any of the employees but they just looked so confused when i was waiting at the cashier to just pay - even though paying in cash is an option! i was a bit disappointed with my meal mainly because the portions for meat were so small for what i paid.. it is fascinating seeing your meal being put together through the automated machine though. there's usually an employee just refilling the machine with bowls. other than that, the location is big, clean, modern and offers a ton of indoor and outdoor seating. read more
