Always a good eat if u don't know what to get. Both sandwiches and salads are great options. I can eat a lot without feeling guilty, just don't look at the calories.

This has become my go to spot for a healthy dinner. The Farm Club sandwich is my favorite! Today I am having the cob salad.

The sandwiches and salads are pretty solid. I forget the name of the sandwich I got but it had chicken, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, candied almond, tomatoes and pesto. I loved the flavor combination but the prosciutto was cut very thick. My icritique is for the children's menu. The chicken tenders are not good at all. My friend's son didn't eat them and said "frozen chicken tastes better than this" . We then got him a "pizza" which was just bread topped with melted cheese, a weird splatter of tomato sauce and pieces of pepperoni. I would not pay for those again. The service is AMAZING.

Just started working in Costa Mesa and saw this place and decided to give it a try. The customer service is the best part. Everyone is so nice and the cashier was so descriptive when asked about the menu since we never been to a location before. The place is so clean. Now for the food. That's where the rating comes down. My partner had the salad. It was practically 90% lettuce. He had better salad with more interesting ingredients elsewhere for a lower price. The cashier said they roast their chicken in store but it tastes like cold bland sandwich meat. Truly the chicken in the salad tasted as if it was boiled then refrigerated. After adding the red sauce to the salad it made it a bit better but he would not reccomend a salad from this location if you are wanting something that doesn't just taste like lettuce. My sandwich was ok as well. They overdid it on the mayo. It would drip out and I needed to use a lot of napkins. Truly if it had less mayo it would have been such a pleasant experience cuz the rest was ok. The best part is the crunchy garlic bits they put in there but other than that it wasn't anything special. I tried to be brave and even had the lemonade. There is a reason they have sugar packets there because all their lemonades are tooooo sour. For two fountain drinks and the two pics we paid approx $45. We left still not satisfied from the flavors but full enough to not want to get more food. This was an experience where I truly regret not going to the cafe next door due to the cost and the lack of flavor profile in the protein and overall salads. But if you have the disposable income and want something from this place I would say try the rest of the sandwiches! I would get a steak type of sandwich if I wanted to return, for now that is a no.

I've had a variety of items from Mendocino Farms, specifically at this location. Every time I've gone, the service has been friendly and quick. The restaurant manages to stay pretty clean, and there's a lot of seating available. They have little brochure-menus at the entrance that you can get and browse through before you order, helpful to those that have trouble reading small-print menus. Mama Chen's Chinese Chicken Salad (9/10): they filled this salad up! I was pleasantly surprised by the large serving size, but it also made sense considering the price. Only needed about half of the dressing, otherwise it's pretty oily. Overall enjoyed the different textures and flavors - they all mixed very well. Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada (6/10): the quinoa was very bland :( it seemed like they didn't salt it or anything. Chimichurri Steak & Bacon (9/10): oily but honestly soooo delicious. Tastes exactly like you would expect. Turkey Avo Salsa Verde (8/10): the chili peppers and salsa aioli don't have much kick to them, but they do add a lot of depth to the sandwich. The Farm Club (6/10): the pickled red onions and herbed aioli are great flavor boosters, but besides that it's very much a regular sandwich. Nothing stands out, but it's not a bad option. Overall they have solid options, BUT the prices are note-worthy. It's not the kind of spot you want to get lunch at multiple times a week (for the sake of giving your wallet a break).

    Peruvian Steak
    Michelle N.

My friends have hyped this place up so much, it was about time I tried it! I got the Peruvian Steak. Honestly, it was a bit oily. I can definitely taste how the mix of the steak, lettuce, and sauce balance each other out, but the bread and oiliness was too heavy for me. I tried my friends Chicken Ceasar Wrap and think I might have to get that next time for a change!

Mendocino farms is a healthy version of chipotle but way better and with more options! They specialize in a variety of things but there salads are next level and that's considering I'm not a real big salad guy! The ambiance is casual laid back. Many places to sit! Parking is big so it shouldn't be any issue. The service is impeccable you're greeted with the nicest associates who are supper accommodating! Overall check them out they won't disappoint

Got the Not so Fried Chicken this time around ($17). Still consistent and tastes amazing as always. Also got an arnold palmer this time around which tasted fine, don't know that I would get it again.

Sandwiches were good definitely have to come back to try the other options. Salads looked good at other tables and their grilled sandwiches did too.

Quick lunch on a weekday. Location was clean and the staff were very friendly. Gave me a taste of the pozole even though I ordered the goat cheese and peach salad. Was a good experience overall!

    Vegan banh mi
    Melanie G.

Great vegan banh mi for a nice more casual meal! Definitely don't expect a traditional Vietnamese banh mi, this is very Americanized. BUT it is still very good for what it is. Tofu and sauces are flavorful, vegetables are fresh and the bread is soft and fresh! Much better than I was expecting. The server who helped us out on a Sunday night was very helpful regarding food allergies and he was very kind too!

New place that I've been waiting to try. Parking is on the backside area. Fun place to grab healthy food. Not too many table//seats though I tried the avocado, and quinoasuperfood enchilada. It was amazing and very fresh tasting as well! The staff was so nice and helpful! 5/5 for customer service!

Half not so fried chicken sandwich and Greek lemon soup
    Olivia H.

Mendocino Farms is overpriced and has mediocre food. The not so fried chicken sandwich was very forgettable, but the Greek lemon soup was great. For the price, I think it's just not worth it. This particular location is great though. Lots of parking, clean inside, and has very friendly employees. Lots of seating, and there's even a heated outdoor patio that's dog friendly.

Pomegranate mint lemonade is on the far left!

I was deciding on where to snag lunch on my way to another store doing my rounds and I really wanted a sandwich. I decided to get the Turkado, some dirty Maui chips and drink. The total came to $17 and some change, not bad about the avg for the area and any lunch. The service was great, the woman who helped me was nice, and efficient, she helped me select what chips to get. Not much bantering but I do enough of that at work, so all good here. The store was clean, nice vibe, music. My order was ready in the time it took me to fill my soda cup and sit down to scroll 1 scroll thru outlook emails. Maybe 5-7 mins the woman who gave me my order asked if I wanted some secret sauce on the side, and put it in the bag. The bag felt heavy! The sub was huge! Probably 8inches bread was nice and springy, there was enough lettuce, tomato and sauces on it. I love the sunflower seeds, gives it a nice little crunch. The meat is more of a very thin piled high but there is a lot of it! I like how the sub is assembled meat, cheese, toppings sauce, it seems to hold together nicely.

This review covers my experience across multiple locations, including Harbor Boulevard in Costa…read moreMesa and Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach. When I first started coming to Board and Brew, I would have given it a solid five stars, but my perspective has shifted after six years of exploring other local options in the county. The Evolution of the Experience: * Ingredients: While the food is definitely better than a pre-made deli sandwich from a grocery store, it isn't exactly top-tier. The bread and meat are good, but as you try more specialized places, you realize these are fairly standard. * The Famous Sauce: Their signature sauce is tasty, but it feels like it contains a high amount of monosodium glutamate (MSG). MSG is a neuro-exciter that can make people feel overstimulated or unwell after eating it, and it feels particularly intense in this recipe. * Consistency: Both the Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa locations were great initially, but they now feel more like a solid, middle-of-the-road option. The Best Use Case: * Catering & Events: Even with a three-star rating, this is absolutely the place I would go if I needed catering for a birthday party or a large event. Their pricing and preparation for bulk orders are hard to beat. Final Thoughts: If Yelp allowed half-stars, I'd probably give this a 3.5. It's a reliable, solid sandwich shop, but the ingredient quality and the intensity of the MSG in the sauce keep it from being a five-star favorite for me anymore. Edit: The owner replied to my comment about how their food is high quality, but 6 years of taste testing says otherwise. While you may not add pure MSG crystals to your sauce, it still contains MSG.It is misleading to claim "No MSG" or "High Quality" when the sauce relies on ingredients that are chemically identical to it. For instance: Tomatoes and Tomato Paste: These are among the highest natural sources of free glutamate. If the recipe uses tomato paste--as many copycats do--it will test positive for MSG. Soy Sauce & Worcestershire Sauce: Both frequently cited in recipes for this sauce, these contain naturally occurring MSG through fermentation or hydrolysis. Nutritional Yeast: Often used to provide a savory flavor, it naturally contains high levels of glutamate.Hydrolyzed Proteins: Ingredients like "hydrolyzed vegetable protein" (HVP) or "yeast extract" are processed specifically to release glutamates. Legally, a company might say they "don't use MSG" if they don't add the pure additive, but that is a technicality. MSG is linked to various health issues for sensitive individuals, and just because many consider it "safe" doesn't mean it's healthy or non-harmful. If the food is truly "high quality," why rely on these additives to create flavor? Best Wishes
