Greetings my Foodzies, our most recent culinary experience came from Sweetgreens at 1143 Lake st in Oak Park. This was a healthy lunch experience. When we arrived we told the staff that it was our first time there ; which is usually an opportunity for them to give an explanation. Unfortunately, we were told we can either choose from the menu or pick our own items. I believe a little better explanation should've been given. The seating was pretty basic with wooden benches and chairs with white top tables, it had an open concept where you can see the food prep even though the restaurant is designed with each item in individual trays for your choices. You can either choose one of their meals or create your own. We chose to pick one of their meals.Glenda chose the chicken avocado salad which was a mixture of various vegetables and chopped apples, rice and tortilla chips and of course avocado. The avocado had black spots on it which basically means that it had been there a while and obviously not treated with lemon to avoid the black spots. The salad was tasty and fresh. I opted for the bbq chicken salad which was also a merriment of flavors between the different vegetables and chopped apples. The bbq chicken wasn't bbq chicken it was chicken with bbq sauce, it also came with a greengodess ranch which gave it an earthy flavor to offset the sweetness of the bbq sauce. Our beverages of choice were the Lemonade with maple syrup; very weak in flavor and no maple syrup was detected . Then we had yge organic hibiscus berry tea; it was tart and flavorless. We enjoyed this restaurant the food was fresh and flavorful, our only disappointment was the avocado, the beverages and lack of instruction . I give this restaurant 3 1/2 stars. Ordered online for the miso glazed salmon, added and deleted options, prepared the order with credit card etc. Then and only then did we get notice there was no salmon. No other fish. Seems they always manage to do something wrong. They've left out the dressing so often we have it mixed in now. read more

DELIVERY ONLY REVIEW: So I have been working on eating more salads and cutting down on the meat lately. This was just the place to provide the options I needed. I decided to try some of their teas as well. For my choice of salad, I chose the Shroomami. I decided not to have the wild rice since carbs already stick to me pretty easily. It was very flavorful. The tofu was prepared really well. I added avocado in place of the rice and it was a great replacement. The sesame dressing was awesome too but I really wish we added more sauce. The tea is good as well but they do not have sugar so... you can add your healthy sugar or you can adjust your palate lol. read more

FYI: The two times I've been to Sweetgreen, I've ordered pickup through the app. Both times i've ordered, my food is ready within 10-15 minutes, always before the estimated order pickup time. I may be a little biased because I've only tried two items on the menu: Hot honey chicken plate & Roasted sweet potatoes. To be honest, I could eat these every day of the week. The Hot honey chicken comes with blackened chicken, kale slaw, warm quinoa, roasted sweet potatoes (Japanese sweet potatoes which have now changed my life), almonds which I omit, and the very BEST part: hot honey mustard dressing. This meal gets a 10/10 from me. I order an additional side order of the Roasted sweet potatoes because they are that good, but I would say portion size is great. If i'm super hungry, I'll usually eat it in one sitting, but it's also easy enough to split into two meals. Overall, 4 stars because I haven't tried anything else yet and haven't tried dining it or dealt with customer service. Don't go, save your time and spend your money at another restaurant. Never have been to a Sweetgreen, don't care to go back. The staff is rude and assume people know where to go to order. No attempt to be accommodating, despite not being busy. Stood where it seemed obvious to go to start an order, no attempt to acknowledge my presence. People came in, the person behind the counter said that I needed to stand someplace else to order, which would have been behind people who came in after me. We ordered sweetgreen via GrubHub for delivery and had a great experience. It showed up on time and was delicious. I ordered the Fish Taco bowl and added tofu and red chili. It was really tasty. It was also really filling. The dressing came in a little container so you could add as much or as little as possible. I opted not to have the bread with my bowl, but my friend got the bread and it looked like it came from a fresh loaf. I can't wait to try the other bowls! read more

Sweetgreen overall is a horrible company , I worked for sweetgreen for almost a year before I got fired for taking action against an employee the managers in the store and area leader could not get rid of even though this employee was racist , sexist, and overall a bully to everyone working in the store. I stood up for myself and the others in the store and they let me go for making a scene when in reality I brought it up to management several times. I hope the company shuts down because all of their stores have major issues and flaws and they ALL do not take action against racism , sexism, and bullying of employees making it the MOST toxic work environment I've ever been apart of. I got the harvest bowl for myself which was so tasty and the chicken tostada bowl for my boyfriend. The only problem was we both got bad diarrhea after it so I'm not sure if they maybe didn't wash the salad greens good enough or if we just can't digest salads. Very much let down. I ordered a hot honey chicken plate and paid $2 to add avocado. The avocado was 90 % rotten, no restaurant with any standards or integrity would serve food like this if they truly cared about their customers. I was excited to try this place, but they seem to want your personal information before providing any information to you. I wanted to find where their restaurants are located, but on their website they insist on you entering your ZIP code (which is understandable and necessary)--and then your email address. You can't find out where they are unless you provide them with your email address. That is invasive. I thought, well, I'll give them a chance anyway. I just went to sweet green in oak park and had the worst experience. The customer service didn' acknowledge me for 5 mins and I was the only person in line. I got there at 5:57 pm. I asked if I could get a pesto paradise salad and the employee told me I had to order that online. She would not take a verbal order. I went on the website, made an account and went to order it. The pick up time read 6:45 pm. I had a plane to catch. I asked the staff if they could make it faster as I was the only one in the store, and still take it to go. they said "no." They were admit about the pick up time. The staff then went in the back and didn't come out for 5 more mins. When I finally got my kale salad, it was 6:24 pm. The salad was good. It was $17. I was so excited when I saw this Sweetgreen open but that lasted barely a month. Too expensive. Portions small except for the kale. They will give you a full bowl of kale. Good for dinner if you want something healthy but I'm so disappointed with the price and the portions. I know a lot of restaurants have online orders to fulfill but it is extremely rude to ignore customers who are standing right in front of you waiting to order. There were only 3 of us at the counter and the two worker did not look up from labeling bowls for online orders. We were standing there looking at them and no one wanted to acknowledge us at all for a good 2 minutes. It was extremely uncomfortable and frustrating until I had to say hi very loudly and even then was not really talked to at all until a another worker came out and actually said hi- asking for order. Sweetgreen is amazing, but this particular location is horrendous. Summary below: Visit 1: The first time I visited this location it was 11:21am in the morning (the store opens at 10:30am). Despite being open for business, the front door was locked and the staff just stared at me blankly through the glass while I tried to open it unsuccessfully. Through the glass, I could see a few customers inside standing in line, so I went around the back of the building to the rear entrance instead - which was unlocked. When I entered, the staff rolled their eyes. They refused to acknowledge me or any of the 3 other customers standing in line and we all sort of looked at each other confused. Instead, the staff avoided eye contact and seemed to be stocking ingredients for the day, slicing vegetables in the back, and the register kid just stood there on his phone. After 15-20 minutes of waiting, someone finally started helping the line, but there was no greeting or apology or explanation for the delay and the staff was generally rude throughout the salad prep process. The girl who helped me spoke under her breath and seemed so irritated to be making my salad. She told me they were "all out" of three ingredients in my salad (confusing since we were among the first customers of the day). She also said there were no sweet potatoes because they are "hard to cut" and "nobody wants to cut them". Keep in mind almost ALL of the autumn feature salads at Sweetgreens have sweet potatoes as an ingredient - it's bizarre that they won't prepare them. Finally, my salad itself tasted great BUT it was probably half the size that it should have been - only filled half the bowl. This is completely unlike the experience we have at the nearby Oakbrook location. By the time we left, the store had been open for OVER AN HOUR and yet they were not ready for customers yet (as evidenced by the main door still being locked, empty ingredient containers, etc.) Visit 2: To avoid the rude staff that we encountered during our first visit, we decided to order to-go this time. We placed our order at 11:40am. Again, sweet potatoes were marked as unavailable in the app. We got a message that our salads were ready for pickup and drove to the store. They were NOT ready and we stood there awkwardly with 12 other people near the pickup section. The order was finally ready after another 15-20 minutes of waiting. We got home, opened the salads, and discovered that they completely forgot dressing. We just had two bowls of dry ingredients. They also forgot to include the bread that comes with every salad. They also forgot to include utensils. read more

This wasn't bad tasting at all, but the price point is not meant for the average person! We ordered the peaches and goat cheese salad. They put an tablespoon of peaches, so we ask for some more...charged for extra peaches, we ask could we get protein, added chicken..3.00 dollars more. Added a drink 3.50 . Total 22.50 for one salad and drink. We stay right down the street and when we opened the bowl the salad had shriveled to less than half the bowl. It tasted decent but this spot feels like an overpriced subway for salads. (Fine dining or causal dining yes, the price is on point) and the aesthetic's was nice..just not worth the price point. read more
