Thai time Owner and Recipe Wizard Thammasorn Lau has created something that feels less like a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone's home -- assuming that someone's home happens to have amazing Thai chefs, incredible spices, and food that makes you immediately start planning your next visit before you're even done eating. We did our best "research project" and ordered everything our table could justify: Thai iced coffee, coconut canopy salad, pad see ew and pad Thai with pork belly, sunset curry with tilapia, and mango sticky rice with ice cream. For science, obviously. Thai Time should put a warning label on their Thai iced coffee. One sip through each layer and the conversation stopped. We woke up. The taste buds clocked in for work. The brain sent out the announcement: "Cancel all distractions -- apparently dinner has plans for us." Good thing we listened. Thammasorn then proceeded to take us on a full Thai flavor adventure. This wasn't just dinner. This was a carefully organized attack on our ability to say, "No thanks, I'm full." The coconut canopy salad started fresh and bright, the noodles brought the comfort, the pork belly brought the celebration, the sunset curry with tilapia brought the "wait, everyone try this" moment. And the mango sticky rice with ice cream showed up at the end like a victory parade. I always read the bad reviews because I'm fascinated by the rare human ability to find sadness while surrounded by curry, noodles, and people being nice to you. They are to be safely ignored. Not a welcoming setting from the owner, as she states. We had to dine outside because we had a dog (which is fine) but she insisted that in Sacramento people who dine outside have to carry out our own plates to the table AND bring the plates/cups/utensils back in. That it is customary in Sacramento. Ok then, what about to those that are elders or disabled who can't bring the plates? I was lucky I had few of my fam to help but there's no warmth to this owner. No one even checked on us at all! We would have left but we had to pay upfront before we found out we had to be the waitress. Food wasn't even worth it (papaya was bland, pad Thai was average). Update: owner replied to this post. Everything that she stated wasn't true at all. I asked why we have to bring all the stuff in and she insisted that it's customary in Sacramento-- she did NOT asked us at all or did we asked, the owner said it immediately when we got seated that we HAD to bring it in. Yes I was upset AFTER we were told to bring the plates and everything in; we just came back from a vacation so we were in a good mood). Please don't make it seem that you were innocent as you also keep mentioning that is how things are in Sacramento and asked where I was even from. Also, we would've been more understanding if we didn't give us an attitude from the start and told us to get our own plate and bring it back in. A word of advice: please hire more staff since that would give some politeness to ALL customers. If you were so busy, how would you even have the time to explain why you wanted us to do waitress work. We came in for lunch and we had about 30 min until the restaurant closed so the person that walked us in said we'd have about 10 minutes to order, which we understood completely. Two minutes after being seated she came up to take our order and we felt extremely rushed. We ended up ordering a papaya salad and a pad se ew, everything non spicy because we don't like spice. The papaya salad came out and it was very very spicy, my partner eats spicy and even he felt like it was extremely spicy. We let her know and she said that's just how they made it and that they only added a little bit of spice. I've had papaya salad several times y different places and it was never spicy. Why wouldn't you warn your customers that it would be spicy? Even when we let her know and she saw we didn't even eat it, she didn't do anything about it. Some of the best Thai food I've had! Such a good spot for Thai food! The restaurant itself is pretty spacious and has a good amount of seating, for any size group or solo Very nice inside with a bar if that's something you're looking for. Everything was so fresh and delicious and had the perfect amount of spice. Absolute yum! Recommended by a coworker, I promptly brought my mom in for a nice workday lunch when I was stationed Downtown. We were greeted, seated, and given water right away. Place was packed with (I'm assuming) state workers. Nice interior and clean bathrooms. Mom and I both ordered the yellow curry (our fave); she opted for the standard mild with white rice, I bumped it up a bit to medium with brown rice. Food was quick (without being suspiciously fast) and really tasty. Medium had a nice kick and the brown rice was in a perfect little cone. The chicken Thai basil came out hot and fresh, veggies were crunchy and delicious, chicken was tender, flavor was slightly sweet and savory. I was surprised I hadn't left a review yet with the number of times I've gone and brought friends or came solo. This location is great for a quick lunch or dinner and gathering with friends/fam/colleagues. Nice date night option too with the lighting and ambiance. There are TVs if you need that extra stimulation. The food is so deliciously prepared. I've had many dishes, most recently, the chicken satay, dong dong noodles, and tofu spring rolls. I had a lovely lunch with my partners close to 2pm. There were only a few people in the restaurant so it wasn't busy. We had a wonderful service with attentive staff. Everything seemed so clean and there were a lot of options on the menu. I wanted to try everything! We decided to get garlic fries, crispy tamarind tofu and potstickers as starters. While visiting for a day trip to Sacramento we found this delicious restaurant near Old town Sacramento. My first impression was that this place was very clean! And it has a very welcoming ambiance. We order a papaya salad, pork ribs, and bamboo chicken. Everything was absolutely delicious! I love that the bamboo chicken came with a rice berry. Even the water there tastes very good! If you love spicy food, make this your next dish. The portion for this was pretty big and I ended up taking basically half the plate home and made it my dinner. Thai Time has become one of my favorite spots for Thai food. Whenever I have meetings in the area I like to stop in for takeout. They have an easy online ordering system and I like looking at their special menu items. My favorites are the Tom Kha soup (medium spicy) and their curries. I've been trying to work my way through the menu and everything is delicious. I definitely recommend trying a variety of items, because each time I try something new I feel like I have a new favorite. The owner is very nice as well, she remembers me each time I come in and we always have some nice small talk as I pick up my order. I haven't dined in, but the restaurant is beautiful and has bar seating as well as tables. It's a modern and welcoming vibe and there's plenty of seating for dates, families and groups. They have street parking and there's a 15 minute spot that I typically use when I'm stopping in to pick up food. If you haven't visited yet it's worth a stop. Every time we've eaten here, it's always been good. It's one of the few places--that I know of--which has Thai spaghetti. It's Angel hair noodles with white chicken, thinly sliced carrots, diced tomatoes, and there's a choice if you want the sauce to be spicy. Skimping on the protein is something I always watch out for, especially when it comes to a restaurant located in a popular area. Lastly, the interior has quite the cozy vibe to it. This particular place does very thinly sliced pieces of pork that are not battered and fried but instead tossed in the wok. The pork also costs extra. I would've been better off just ordering the regular which comes with chicken at no additional cost because I couldn't tell the difference between pork or chicken. The sweet-and-sour sauce missed. Very heavy on the ketchup or tomato sauce that they use. The portion also is not adequate. For 20+ dollars at lunch, there's just gotta be more on the plate. Came to Thai Time on Sunday just after they opened at noon and had a great experience, delicious food, and top-notch service! Parked on 10th street and walked a block and a half to the restaurant. Right when we walked inside, the restaurant smelled clean and fresh with a hint of delicious food in the air. The ambiance was really calm, clean, and relaxing. We were quickly greeted and seated at one of the window seats and there was just one other table occupied thus far. We ordered their Thai Iced Tea and Iced Coffee to drink and both were fresh and tasted of high quality. Very refreshing and tasty! To eat, we ordered their Drunken Noodle (with vegetables), Thai Fried Rice (with chicken), Mango Shrimp (substituted with chicken), and steamed vegetables. We got everything medium spicy and everything was very mild except the fried rice was extra spicy! Everything came out hot and tasted fresh and amazing! For dessert I couldn't pass up the Mango Sticky Rice with Ice Cream. It was absolutely incredible and am so glad I got it! The dessert was creamy and not too sweet. The portions are good and the quality of food is good as well. The only inconvenience was that they took too long to serve the food. I mean when I say too long I mean more than 30 minutes. We ordered the fries as appetizers and we got them like 25 minutes later. We were patients because we believe everything was just fresh made but honestly the wait was too long. We just enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Thai Time. We arrived around 5:30 on a chilly Friday night. We were welcomed in and seated promptly. We had the delicious curry puffs to start. My wife had the ginger fried chicken and I had the coconut lamb curry. We added a side of brown rice and two green tea lemon bombs. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. Our server advised that dishes are prepared at a mild spice level. I asked that the lamb curry be medium spicy and it was perfect for me. We thought about desert, but our meals were large enough that more wasn't needed. Our server was very helpful and friendly. Liked the peanut sauce though. For the main, ordered the Tilapia Pad Cha with brown rice. I've been here 2x now and feel like its a solid and tasty spot. This time around I came with a large group and we ate family style so I was able to sample a good number of items on the menu. I really enjoyed the wide noodle pad thai, yellow curry, pad see ew. We also got the eggplant, potstickers, and spring rolls. The only thing I didn't like were the spring rolls which tasted hard and not very fresh. The Thai tea was perfect. Overall I've had good experiences here. Cute decor and friendly service.
