Sweetgreen is always a nice choice for a healthy meal! I usually order through their app for pickup. Many times, they'll have some sort of deal like a certain bowl for $10, which is about a $5 discount. On my last visit, I redeemed a $10 Power Crunch Bowl. And in the past I've gotten a $10 Chicken Avocado Ranch Bowl. I love the fresh ingredients including the large avocado portion and variety of veggies, and even nuts and chips for texture! I also like to get their rosemary focaccia bread with hummus. The rosemary is a wonderful herb in the bread. I will say the protein portion isn't up to my standards so I usually order double meat which is an additional $5 or so. For this location, since it's in UTC mall, the area usually is buzzing with people. I would avoid coming around when the mall closes (around 8pm) because the traffic going out is horrendous since there are a lot of people leaving at the same time, which causes a jam at the ticketing gates. So I know I am impressed for wrong reasons. Cuz I asked the guy here what their most popular fish is, and they said it's harvest bowl, so I was like sure it's my first time here, let's give that a try. Came on a Tues night around 6:30 and it wasn't too busy. I haven't been to a sweetgreen since I was on the east coast and happy to see they've expanded. It is cafeteria style and they have option for premade mixes or build your own. I went with the premade. I got the harvest bowl with chicken, sweet potatoes, apples, almonds, wild rice, kale and balsamic vinaigrette. I removed the goat cheese and did like that they offered free alternatives but I didn't add anything else. I also got a bit less of the dressing. The flavors were great and everything tasted really fresh. Good textural contrast with all the components. They didn't skimp on the chicken either and it was warm! Not cold chicken. My daughters ordered out a bit when they were at UCSD and so they knew a lot of the local eateries. One such is Sweetgreen located in UTC mall next to Salt & Staw (you can eat a salad followed by a heaping double scoop on a waffle cone. Balance) First described to me as "think Subway for salads" I first thought..... "salad?" Sweetgreen has grown on me. Service is indeed like a Subway setup. Either you can BYO or choose one of their creations and modify if desired. Staff are friendly enough for the model and do keep things moving efficiently. I've mentioned before I can be lazy when it comes to BYO so I go with their creations. I like the Crispy Rice Bowl. I attached a screenshot bc there are way too many things to list plus the pic includes nutritional breakdown. I liked the flavor combination. It does come with arugula but I actually switched that out for spinach and kale. Portion size is pretty large and I felt there was a good amount of chicken chunks. The bowls are pretty packed and I found that by closing a lid and then shaking the heck of it is a quick fix to mix it up. They have a new product of air fried potato wedges which my wife had a separate visit and raved about but when I asked for my most recent visit they said it would be a 20-30 minute wait. It's casual dining inside and I like they really try to make their products environmentally friendly choosing organic produce and compostable food containers. A little pricey if you go with a mindset of "it's just a salad" but you also pay equal if not more for a non-customized salad at a fine dining establishment. Always a good stop. read more

I discovered the joy of salad bowls for the first time at sweetgreen. I ordered a build your own bowl and paid $17-18 for it. They have a ton of different vegetables, proteins, and dressings. For a BYOB, you can get four sides, which include chickpeas, broccoli, tomatos, etc. The server offered me a bit of extra chicken because it was close to closing hours. My bowl had so much food (and fiber/protein) that it lasted me two meals, one of which I was extremely hungry prior to. I'll probably be coming back sometime soon. read more

I was hesitant to try this place at first because it didn't seem appealing to me but I'm so glad I got to try it. I tried the chicken avocado ranch salad bowl. My favorite was the white rice which tasted kind of sweet like a coconut rice. Chicken was cooked perfectly; grilled and seasoned beautifully. Not dry at all. The portions are large so I can never finish and have leftovers. I love the mixture of the hot sauce and the pesto sauce - I always ask for medium pesto and light hot sauce. I really love their spicy broccoli as well. I've tried a few of the other menu items but always come back to the Chicken Pesto Parm, and regardless of what I order, I make sure to add the spicy broccoli. I have eaten at several Sweetgreen locations. This is definitely the worst. I blame it on poor management, as the other locations I have visited are far better in all ways. Things seemed "off" right from the start. The food bins were unkempt, with spillage between many of the bins and only one person taking orders. Basically, the store was understaffed and not clean. Even the tables needed cleaning. I did see several workers in the back, but maybe it was a shift change. Eventually, another food preparar came out. I ordered the Fish Taco bowl, which is my favorite (at least at other locations) and was very disappointed. I don't know who is in charge of quality control, but I had weeds in my argula. See attached photo. One was some type of rocket and the other was a big stem of goosefoot. These are common garden weeds, but neither is food, and the goosefoot in particular could be a digestive problem! Fortunately, I knew what to look for and was able to pull them out. But the salmon was old and shriveled - well past it's prime. This meal gave me stomach issues the next day. Will I come back to Sweetgreen? Definitely. But not to this location. Avoid! read more
