The ingredients themselves and the salads are as you expect, very solid and good. The issue here is the couple of times I've come it's just severely understaffed and poorly run so the waits are insanely long. Even people who have ordered ahead were waiting at least 15 minutes+ to grab their orders. My last visit was 45 minutes, sunk cost fallacy had me staying in line. There's usually just 1 person serving the line, maybe one person dealing with people who've ordered ahead and one or two others that are prepping ingredients. This most recent visit they were out of cucumbers and a couple of other ingredients. With the light staffing it also meant the seating area is about as well maintained and cleaned as prior patrons have done themselves. If you're used to the locations in the city and the efficiency you see there, this is not it. Ordered a "create your own" salad with salmon, arugula, quinoa, pickled onions, fried onions, and cucumber (dressing on the side). The salmon was a bit overcooked and dry, but still pretty good. Very poorly run. They prepare mobile orders while the in store line grows longer and longer. They run out of bread and dressing. They are woefully understaffed and the service is glacial. Was honestly really gross. My bowl had a whole half of an avocado just plopped in it and it was black all over. I couldn't believe they actually thought it was ok to put that in the bowl. I've noticed a decline. Or maybe it was never good. I've delayed writing a review because to be fair I've complained a few times and gotten good results from customer service but not I don't even want a discount or free salad. Most days I have to wait for my pickup order even though I get an email stating it's ready. Half the time something is missing. Sometimes the ingredients aren't fresh but today they were extra unfresh. My bread was straight up stainless. The dressing was inedible and congealed. This location has been open now for over a year. I'm used to going to sweet green in the city and everything here is mostly the same. The difference seems to be in the online ordering, i have found that its inconsistent. Most times the order takes a lot longer than the app said. Other times i regret not ordering in person because it would be a lot faster. Outside of those service issues, i havent had issues with the food. Its consistent (and expensive). I havent found an alternate quick salad place in the area, so for now ill fill my salad cravings here. read more

Visit # 2 was similar to visit # 1 but with other issues having nothing to do with the excellent salads that they offer. We walked in to order salads and there were about 10 customers waiting for their on-line orders. Not a lot of smiles. We got our orders in about 15 minutes from a salad maker devoid of a smile or any warmth. We sat outside as the weather was nice. I paid with a credit card but couldn't approve it despite many attempts. The cashier directed me to buttons that only added a tip. 15% added for substandard service? WTF??? The other buttons simply did not work. Meanwhile a woman was trying to cancel an order as she was tired of waiting. The SG team said she couldn't cancel the order and there was a verbal dispute at the register. There was disharmony between co-workers on the salad prep line- employee bickering. We sat outside and ate our salads as customers arrived to pick up their on-line orders. The problem was that one of the workers locked the doors at 7:35pm. Customers couldn't get in or get out until am employee unlocked the door. Customers were exasperated. The website says this location is open until either 8pm or 9pm and the doors were locked at 7:35pm? I find it so sad that Sweetgreen has a winning formula. Exotic, healthy greens brought to Scarsdale from all corners of the country- see the blackboard that details this. There is strong demand from an affluent clientele but there is either insufficient or poorly trained workers to piece the salads together. The workers seem disgruntled and unhappy to be there. Sad. By the way- the stores location on the SW website is listed as Vernon Hills? Vernon Hills is the name of the shopping center not the town. Every other location on the website is a town? Some of the rudest employees I have ever met. I asked for "some" corn, "some" onions, "some", etc. just as a phrase not because I was restricting them on the amount they were portioning out for me. The employee became extremely rude and said to stop asking for "some" food because they can't give me specific portions. I then asked for a side of the dressing and that same employee completely ignored me. When I repeated myself because I genuinely thought he didn't hear me, he looked at me and said he heard me the first time but didn't respond because he was "focusing" on chopping up my salad. I had always been curious, but they were never in locations that were easy for me to get to and there were other spots that were in more of an arm's reach for me. I was doing some holiday shopping the other day in Scarsdale when I was looking for lunch - I noticed there was a Sweetgreen right in the shopping center where I was browsing, so I took it as a sign and decided to check it out. Sweetgreen reminds me of other quick-service casual spots I've been to: it's a counter service spot that serves up fast-casual fare. The star of the menu are greens and grains, and they have a number of bowl options with various flavor combinations. Additionally, you can create your own bowl or salad if you're looking to customize. I wasn't in an adventurous mood, so I decided to go with their Chicken Pesto Parm bowl. The bowl contained quinoa, spinach, broccoli, tomato, breadcrumbs, chicken, parmesan, pesto, and hot sauce. The bowl was pretty good, I thought the whole spinach leaves made it a little sloppy to handle, but overall the flavors worked well. Service was good - the place was large so even though you can easily take your meal to go, they have seating if you would rather stay. Overall, I thought Sweetgreen was just fine - I didn't find it better than their competitors, but also not worse. And I saw they charge $2.50 for a slice of bread. This is highway robbery. Salads were made quickly. We ate outside so that was nice. Won't be going back because of the pricing. I was ordering a salad one day and the girl with braces, I think she said her name was Autumn. She was extremely kind and welcoming. A few moments later her manager walks in and she was short, Hispanic, and skinny. She starts humiliating Autumn out in the open, for customers to hear. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for my people (I'm Black and Mexican), but her demeanor felt out of character and disrespectful. First time trying last night thru Uber Eats. I ordered the sweet potatoes and the Brussels sprouts and chicken. The potatoes were good but I didn't like Green goddess ranch. The Brussels sprouts were cut very thin and there was no chicken in it. The Miso sesame dressing was spicy which I didn't know so that I tossed. The bag should've been sealed somehow as well. Mind you, I already came 10 minutes after the estimated pick-up time so the food not being ready was a little annoying already. Service also needs improvement. Yes, sweetgreen is expensive. Now that we have that out of the way. The proteins are well seasoned and flavorful for something that is supposed to be healthy and good for you. Cooked grains and vegetables are of good quality and never mushy, which speaks to the awesome quality control for a chain restaurant, other brands are now on notice. You will definitely get your RDA of vitamins, fiber and minerals from a sweetgreen salad (disclaimer: this does not constitute medical advice). As far as this location is concerned, it does have parking being in a shopping plaza and does get packed during peak shopping times (e.g the weekend). To avoid this, the app makes ordering convenient, though leave margin for error if you have to customize anything. There have been more than a few times I was missing tofu from a salad, maybe they ran out? But sweetgreen corporate is good about rectifying things and so it's not terrible unless it was something you were looking forward to. Ironically, I have had better success with delivery over pick up re: order accuracy. I recommend coming here but double check your orders before you leave, folks! read more
