Ok let me say first that I have been to this place a few times and never been wowed but was satisfied. I went back last night and was disappointed. First the positives, the ordering process and menu were easily accessible. When we arrived at the restaurant to pick up, the food was ready. The host was very nice and the inside of the restaurant was very nice! Now for the not so great, the food. I ordered the steak chimichangas, the portion size was good but nothing came with it, no salsa , no guacamole, no pico de gallo. The taste was pretty basic. Not really flavorful. Wanted to give a huge shout out to the manager Josh, today I wanted to place an order for my nurses at montefiore. It was a call about 6:30 pm, understood that it's cinco de Mayo. Because when I called the hostess seemed very overwhelmed, she couldn't take a minute to understand, what I wanted to order for the following day. The first time she hangs up the phone, when I called back she tells me that she cannot take my order today. That I needed to call the next day to place my order. I expressed to her that this food order was to be sent to my nurses for tomorrow because it was nurses week. She proceeded to say, well you're gonna have to order it by DoorDash. I said ok if this an issue please take the order and I'll pick it. She gets a little upset and says I'm putting the manager on, as she's handing him the phone I hear her say to him "she's being difficult ". Thank you God for Josh!!! I did mentioned to him I heard what she said, he was so apologetic and was immediately ready to help me in every way possible. And I understand that it was crazy busy, so he gave me two options either he can take the order now or he promised to call me at 9:30 pm that night. He was so humble and honest I said ok, well again a professional needed to take over because he called me at 8:30 pm apologize again for calling me an hour early. Well Mr. Josh took my order in 10 minutes we were done. And this is why I will give this business a five star rating for Josh knows about customer service and genuinely cares. Drove up to Scarsdale for a friend's birthday - he is GF and was craving Mexican so we came across this restaurant! We walked in and were seated shortly after! The place is small itself but cozy. A few minutes after we sat, one of the waiters dropped a glass and it cracked all over the floor / table we were sitting at. It was quickly cleaned up, only to find more & more pieces under our feet. I sadly came straight from work & was in open toed heels which made me even more upset! My friend & I cleaned up some remainders and luckily the table next to us checked in & helped. The waiters didn't really seem to care much, the host made a joke about our appetizer coming soon to make up for it, I assumed it'd be on the house or something would be offered in order to accommodate the event that just occurred; however it was like nothing had happened. The nachos were okay - thought it was weird to be charged extra for guac that was initiated by the waiter. The main courses were ok... a bit flavorless .. my friend got the salmon and I ordered fajitas - it was bland to say the least but I was hangry from work & tried to pick the protein out. My husband and I ate at this place last week and the pico de gallo and chips are delicious!!! I did not enjoy my chicken fajita because it was too dry and I didn't care for the Greek seasoning they used on the meat. Also, I don't like corn tortillas and that was all they had. Had I known that I never would have ordered the dish. When I asked the waiter if I could get flour tortillas he said we are a 100% gluten free restaurant. So, that will be the main reason why I won't go back because my doctor told me to stay away from gluten free products because of my autoimmune disorders. Not sure what to think of this place. I was expecting high prices because of its location, but the food misses the mark. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The indoor space is nice and looks like they have outdoor seating for warmer weather. We ordered yuca fries, mahi mahi tacos, quesadillas and a fajita (chicken and shrimp). The fajita was good, big portion and plenty of veggies. The tacos had no flavor, same for quesadilla. The yuca fries were ok, the sauce is what had the flavor. The place dubs itself as Mediterranean-Mexican. Didnt try any of the medi dishes, but i would say the Mexican dishes are more tex-mex. I think this place would do much better as 100% Mexican. All the happy hours are Mexican (Margarita Monday, taco Tuesday, sangria Wednesdays). The tacos are good but could be better. The meat in the tacos could be cut in bigger pieces in order to hold more flavor. I thought the carne asada tacos were cut too small which let all the juices flow out of the meat. 3/5 The chimichurri skirt steak was a 3 but could have been a 4 if they let their meat rest and cut the steak much later. Loved it here! I was in the area and was looking for a new dinner spot. We wanted to try some different tacos. I was pleasantly surprised by PopoJito's. Great spot for a weekend lunch. There are some spots outside on the sidewalk, and that was delightful for me and my family. The menu is surprisingly large! It was hard to choose. I ended up getting a salad, which was fresh but seemed a little heavy on the lettuce vs. mixings. I greatly appreciated the kid menu, which was reasonably priced and fulfilling. I went for lunch this past Sunday with my wife and son, who has celiac and only eats gluten free. We had a very good overall experience. The service was excellent and friendly. I order often from Popojito but it's always nice to sit and dine there . The staff is always super nice and the restaurant itself has a nice chill vibe . The food is always tasty , and though might be a bit pricey in comparison to places in the area , I will say that I have never been sick or felt "gross" after eating from there so there is something to be said about the price and reflection of the quality they use! Sometimes the quality or presentation of things have been inconsistent but I just chalk it up that it can just be an off day in the kitchen . My wife and I made the trip down (about 30 minutes) to experience this 100% gluten-free restaurant. Neither of us have celiac disease, but we both have auto-immune disorders that are inflamed by gluten, so going without it has become a lifestyle that promotes good health for us. It's a surprisingly small dining room, though there is outdoor seating for those who like such things. We requested indoor seating. Our waiter was friendly, competent, and helpful. If you're used to Mexican restaurants providing complementary chips and salsa, you may be disappointed. They don't do that. You can get chips and salsa, but you have to order it as a paid appetizer. We passed. Instead, we ordered their fried calamari with aioli. Outstanding. You could not tell the difference between this and any fried calamari made with gluten. I also ordered a gluten-free beer. I didn't have high hopes because a friend had told me that they're awful. This one, Glutenberg IPA, was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised. I do enjoy a cold beer on a hot day, and now I can do so again. My wife ordered the red sangria, which I also tried. It was good, but nothing you wouldn't get anywhere else. Our entrees were fish and chips for me and steak chimichurri for my wife. She raved about the tenderness and flavor of the steak and the mashed potatoes and asparagus that came with it. My fish was very tender. The breading was good. the fries were average. Overall, I was very satisfied. The portions were also fair. In addition, we got a side of fried plantains. They made them well, without the greasiness that often accompanies the dish at many restaurants. For dessert, we broke our usual rule of sharing one and instead ordered two. This was a mistake because it left me feeling overstuffed, but the selections were fantastic, both recommended by our waiter who told us that they're his favorites. One was a special, peanut butter chocolate pie. The other was strawberry cheesecake. So good that it was worth the mild stomachache later. Prices are probably in line with what you see out there these days. Everything in dining out has increased appreciably, so no specific complaints about this place. I had to park a couple of blocks away. There's a lot adjacent to the restaurant, but it's exclusively for the supermarket. The public garage across the street said that parking was only available until 6pm. Honestly, it wasn't a big deal on such a beautiful night, and I got the impression that some kind of event was going on nearby, so you might find much closer parking on your visit. It was, after all, a Saturday. You can bring your gluten eating friends here and they won't feel at all deprived. And if you're gluten-free, you will feel very much at ease. My friend and I came right when they opened on a Saturday. It was the first day of spring, and according to their social media accounts there was outdoor seating. We ended up eating indoors (To clarify: this wasn't an issue, we just didn't want to miss having time in the sun!). We were the first ones there, though a couple came in maybe an hour after. First off I'll start by saying how I appreciate that this place is 100% gluten free. It takes alot of work to make sure of that and I'm glad they do, that's what attracted me to here as my wife maintains a gluten free diet. But honestly gluten free or not this place is great! Their menu has everything from appetizers, tacos, burritos, bowls, salads, etc. For a starter we had yuca fries that came with chipotle aioli dipping sauce, for entree my wife had the chicken enchiladas that came with salad and rice, it comes with a mole sauce or a salsa verde sauce but the server was nice enough to put both on the side because she was unsure of which she would like. I had the ranchers bowl which had rice and beans, flank steak, tomato, red onion and fried yuca, it had an avocado sauce which came with it. All the food here was amazing here, the yuca fries were crispy, the ranchers bowl had amazing flavor and was very filling, the enchiladas and both sauces were tasty, they also sell their in house hot sauce on sight which is worth checking out. Finally we had the churro dessert which was great too which some whipped cream and chocolate sauce. They also have the option to pay via QR code which I always appreciate. Our server was super attentive; and super nice. The food was absolutely delicious! It was so nice to be able to enjoy a full course meal without worrying about my son having a reaction. My son had a steak burrito; it was huge! And he loved it! He is a eater; but this actually filled him! All of its items are Gluten free, freshly created and it's industrial-ish aesthetic is truly welcoming. The Lettuce wrap tacos are my favs as well as The stuffed poblano pepper (a little pricey) and the Oaxaca chicken soup (spicy) ! I tried the mahi mahi, salmon, cod, braised short rib, carne asada, and ground beef. Braised short rib was the best of the bunch and I definitely preferred all of the beef tacos to the fish (which were the most bland). Quesadillas came in a crunchy-ish tortilla, which consistency I didn't care for, but the cheese inside the quesadilla was really good. Ok, my wife and I live around here so we decided to try it out. I came here for 1 main reasons, their Octopus . Remember, the Octopus is the restaurant's mascot and symbol. We walked in around 1 pm and were able to choose wherever to sit. Our server was so sweet and friendly! We ended up getting a burrito bowl with grilled mahi mahi (which also came with a super impressive scoop of guac), a few tacos (lime & garlic chicken, fried calamari, and grilled cod with mango salsa), and a cheese quesadilla off the kids menu just for fun. Everything was *so* tasty!! My favorite was probably the fried calamari taco and the chipotle aioli that came with it was amazing! The mango salsa and all of the fish served tasted super fresh - loved how the grilled fish had a really smoky flavor.
