Happy Easter everyone! Today, my daughter and I went out to breakfast here at Sweetpeas. It is located off the freeway on the corner of Bowman and Luther roads. There was plenty of parking when we pulled in. As you walk in, you seat yourself. I hadn't been here before, but my daughter has. When we sat down (table and chairs kinda place), one server got us a couple of waters while we were looking over the menu.. perfect, because that's what we love to drink. After we decided on what we wanted I got a chance to look around at the decor on the walls. It felt very family friendly with baby pictures on the walls, signs, coffee mugs along the restaurants name spelled out on the wall. It was very cute and cozy. My daughter ordered the Carnitas Omelet (Carnitas omelet with jack cheese, black beans, red onions, avocado, and black olives, topped with sour cream. Served with sourdough toast and fresh fruit) with strawberries. I ordered the Huevos Ranchero's with eggs over medium (Corn tortillas, refried beans, 2 eggs, sour cream, avocado, homemade salsa, and cheese cheese. Also served with a side of salsa.) We didn't wait long, it arrived within 10 minutes. Also, after smelling their delicious coffee, I had to have a cup! A+!!!! My daughter let me try her Carnitas Omelet. Their Carnitas is on point! It was tender and has great flavor! Her omelet was beautifully cooked, being that it was gorgeous, yellow and fluffy. My Huevos Ranchero's was crispy in the bottom as I requested. I love the topping of avocado. The only thing I would change is to get all the salsa on the side. There was quite a bit on the Huevos Ranchero's themselves and it was a little overwhelming. Next time, I'll order it completely on the side. The menu has it listed as homemade... it tasted a little bit like it was Pace chunky salsa. I didn't even touch the side of salsa that also comes in the side and I wasn't sure what the extra side of tortillas was for, but I took those home. My daughter took home about half of her 3 egg omelet and some toast. Maddy was a great server. Everyone helped each other out by doing coffee refills for all tables (not just their own), running out hot food, and helping clean up tables as people finished their plates. Great team work! Normally I like to visit a place a few times before I review them. Although I only ate here once (so far) I can tell I will be back. Good variety on the menu. Very friendly and helpful staff and at least one of the ladies spoke Spanish to the children nearby and I thought that was amazing! The coffee was good my breakfast was cooked perfectly. They also had burgers sandwiches milkshakes and diner items for my next visit. Simple to get to right off the freeway with easy parking. read more

When I visit Auburn, CA, Sweetpea's is a must stop for breakfast or lunch. I have never had bad service here. The Family feel makes for a very relaxed eating experience. The food here is delicious and hearty. If you are hungry, you are going to get big portions here. I love looking at the menu and seeing items named after long time customers that they created. I ordered my usual mini breakfast number three which is always fine and this time a cup of diner coffee, and I must say I was surprised to find out that it was more than a third of the cost of the breakfast alone. $10.49 for breakfast plate (good) plus $3.99 for coffee (unremarkable) means next time I'll carry in my to-go coffee in my own thermos. Tacky as that sounds. I am aware the coffee is refillable, but I've never been to a diner where it wasn't so that's not a selling point for me. Plus when I dine at TJ's in Colfax, the senior breakfast is the same as the mini breakfast here (little larger actually) plus your diner coffee is included so I think I got spoiled. Easter Sunday, on our way home to Nevada, found this place off Hwy 80. It was packed when we got there but it was worth the 10-15 minute wait. Excellent food, Excellent services, and a locally owned family business. My daughter had the cinnamon roll french toast, my son-in-law had biscuits and gravy, the husband had chicken fried steak, and I had the blueberry pancake. Very attentive to our 15-month-old grandson, our waitress was the daughter of the owner she brought the baby a bowl of fresh fruit when she realized he was getting a little fussy. Added this place to our saved favorites and will make a regular place on Hwy 80. Did not take photos - sorry about that. read more

I don't like this place. It seems cute and nice at first but it was cold and standoffish. The older lady waitress was rude, abrupt and just bad at her job. She didn't even give us 2 minutes to decide on what we wanted to order (keep in mind we were a party of 7 including 2 kids and a baby) but also took forever to bring us the check (partially messed up). She took part of our order, bounced to the next table to take another part order and eventually bounced back to us several times. She seemed so overwhelmed and it wasn't super crowded either. I absolutely love sweet peas, my go to order is the rosemary crab cake Benedict and my boyfriend gets the chicken fried steak. The service is always great, we are always so well taken care of when we go and we have been going for the past 4 years. It's a little noisy but that's to he expected with sit down restaurants, the decor is super cute and the natural lighting from the windows is nice. Delish little diner... I had the pancake combo. The pancakes were very good, eggs were cooked a perfect over medium and the patty sausage they use is super tasty!! My DH had the grilled meatloaf sandwich!! So yummy the bread was crispy but not greasy! Only bummer is they don't have French Fries!! But we got a nice selection of fruit! On a Saturday, I am required to participate in a school function in Auburn. Such is the life of a teacher, but it is what it is, and I figured I'd make the most of it and go out for breakfast. A solid 3...some thongs enjoyable, some thongs not, and some things....questionable? The customer service was great. My server was very relaxed and attentive without it being forced. Asking how everything was, if I needed anything, drinks were refilled, great job there. Now then, onto the food... I ordered the chili cheese omelette. The omelette was cooked well, and was overflowing with chili. This is important, because some places cook a boring omelette and douse it in chili. The downside...inconsistent potatoes. Please don't serve raw/undercooked potatoes with delicious ones. It ruins the experience. Now, a bad taste in my mouth. There was an extra dollar charge for a "non-cash fee." No one explained it to me, it just showed up...even before I let them know how I was planning to pay. A little shady, to say the least. Perhaps they should clarify, as it seems like an intentional overcharge. This small cozy place caught my attention, so we decided to give it a try. The service was excellent, and our server, Antonio, had a fun personality that enhanced our experience with his friendliness and humor. The other staff members were also nice. The menu was extensive, and I was unsure what to order, but Antonio recommended the pork carnitas, which I rarely order. However, it tasted great. I also ordered a hot chocolate, which was good and came in a good size. Additionally, I tried the pancakes, which were light, fluffy, and golden. We have decided to return here soon since it's a good spot to go to, as there aren't many good places where we live. read more

This is my grandfathers favorite breakfast restaurant in Auburn, so when he took me here I had high expectations because the man likes his breakfast. Food: I decided to to order the Auburn Express omelette with hash-browns and an english muffin side. This omelette was amazing, I think it might be the best omelette I have had in years. It's a little unconventional as it has pastrami for protein. The hash browns were great, but they aren't super crunchy if you are into that sort of thing. The english muffin wasn't toasted enough for my liking, but they did not skimp on the butter. Staff/Service: The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is because of the insane amount of time it took to be helped. We got some coffee and then about an hour passed before someone came out to tell us that another person would be out shortly to take our order. There are so many choices on the menu, and I hope to come back and try more. Just keep in mind you need to be patient if you want to visit. read more

Great service first of all. Omelettes were loaded with toppings, I had route 40, real avocados and good chunky slices, lots of bacons. Had fruit as a side and it was loaded with watermelon slice, pineapple slice, apple slices, orange slice, and half of banana. Daughter had fruit waffle, tons of fresh strawberries & whipped cream on big crispy(on the outside) waffle. Hashbrowns were made perfect, crispy! Husband had a side of biscuits and gravy(with his omelette plate), he said it had flavor unlike most breakfast places and enjoyed it. Inside its typical diner and our food came out pretty fast, coffee served with a performance making the meal even better. :) If you are looking for quick diner breakfast, sweetpeas is perfect spot. read more
