They have lots of coffee drinks and pastries but if the name says "pie," you need to get pie. The cherry pie was wonderful. Cherry is not my number one pie flavor but it was great and not too sweet. The crust was wonderful. The chicken pie had a ton of flavor and had corn and carrots inside, so I guess you could say it was healthy-ish. The Thanksgiving pie was wonderful, even though it is August and a million degrees outside. The spices were perfect and made me think of Turkey Day. No passport required to visit this Republic.

I've been taking people here for years. I maybe show up for some pie at least once a season, but I've never stopped going. Business meetings, solo meetings - ROP has been my familiar, go-to coffee shop. A natural fit in my my writing space rotation, it has merely been what it has been. The general operation has kept its shape since my first visit. The staff and some of the permanent menu items have changed, but I'm grateful the operators believe in community and the arts. There's now a public printer there, for cripe's sake! Mainly, ROP works. It works for all meals of the day, never being so full that I couldn't grab a spot in their diningroom and be productive for a couple hours. One interesting thing about my long term patronage: I started out electing to go with their savory pies, but for a good stretch now, I've only really cared to switch among their fruit pies. And their bread pudding. Do yourself a favor and order it, a la mode, when it's on the menu. Do with that what you will. In any case - having a decade's worth - as long as I live in the SFV, ROP will not stop sounding like the occasional good idea for getting work done.

My hubby and I were helped by Jasmine, who was welcoming, sweet, and very friendly. She gave us Dubai chocolate samples, and then little sample cups of the Dubai chocolate strawberry cup topped with baked Filo dough for crunch. We wound up sharing the large Dubai chocolate strawberry cup for $18. The strawberries were plump and sweet and fresh. The pistachio cream was rich and delicious. The chocolate was melty, and as we ate, hardened into a nice little shell. The shreds of baked Filo dough gave it a very nice crunch. It was really fun having a parking lot picnic! You couldn't ask for a friendlier or nicer employee than Jasmine. She really sold it! This isn't something you eat every day because it's extremely rich, filling, and admittedly, quite expensive. But I could see myself getting a hankering and going back again one night when I'm in the mood for a sweet Dubai chocolate strawberry cup.

Glad I did, I got to try Dubai with banana and not just strawberries. It didn't take to long to make. Fast and yummie. No line which was cool. Ate in the parking lot of Gelson market. Great location for this, lots of foot and car traffic. I parked in Gelson market.

My happy place!!! I can't remember how I found the brand but I'd been buying it from Lazy Acres, WF…read moreand occasionally Erewhon for the organic flavors. Sprouts had it, once I actually started eating it, they discontinued it lol. I love that for the majority of flavors it's so much cleaner than other brands. I realized there was flavors I wanted to try, not in those stores. I texted cs (SUPER helpful btw) but they told me the stores had all the flavors. GCM can be a pain, and my friend sent me a story about that store, so I'm glad I ended up in studio city. I wrote her name but can't find it. I think it was Mirka. So sweet and helpful. She was patient while I tried some of the flavors I had curiosity around but had never seen in the stores. At the time the double strawberry sees collab flavor was new, tried it and liked it. The pbj needed strawberry jelly instead. There was other flavors I hadn't heard of. It was nice to be at the helm of the flavors lol. I did a sampler flight and got the strawberry sees one to go home. I will say, it's $13 in store, and a while back WF had a kick ass sale and I paid $4! But they didn't have all the flavors! So I suppose it's worth it lol. I came again w a friend. I wanted to do the corn and berries and try the berry crumble. I was so intrigued by corn and berries, but let me tell you, it's chillin w its cousins in my freezer! I should've taken a pic of my freezer at the height of the sale! I think I have 8 pints in my freezer. Don't judge me. Some of my faves: summer corn & blackberries, brown sugar w milk Bordeaux, banana cream w toffee ettes, sea salt cream & cookies and golden state vanilla. I love churros & sprinkle cake - only available here. Haven't brought them home yet but they were part of my flight. I find it interesting, of all the flavors they find strawberry oversaturated, so you can only buy it here or online. I'm not big on chocolate but even w the ss cream & cookies, they're house made cookies and SO good! Despite the name, I didn't realize chocolate w polar bear paws was a chocolate based ice cream, again lol don't judge me. Most chocolate ice creams I've had in the past are hard to get through. Let's just say that pint lasted 2 days once opened. I probably would buy it on a rare occasion but I was surprised with how smooth it is. I brought my friend with me the second time, she got the Bordeaux one after tasting. I tried to tell her it was available at WF, but that's not her usually store so she paid it. Again I'm struggling with the name of the guy that helped us. Kind and patient. Obviously I'll be back when something I'm intrigued by is only here or online. I'm extremely happy that they don't just deliver an epic product, but the service also lives up to it. It's a place I'll happily return.

No smile, nothing. I asked her if I could sample couple of their ice creams, and without saying a word she let me sample two. I went with a medium cup with two small scoops of ice cream, I asked her if she could give me just a little more. Still no answer. It was like talking to myself. For 2 small scoops, price was $10.95. VERY EXPENSIVE! Got Vanilla and some other creamy ice cream (can't remember the name), that had four different types of nuts: pecans, peanuts, walnuts, and almonds. The name wasn't stated on the receipt. The ice cream tasted delicious, creamy, flavorful, great texture and was well balanced. They have small stools inside, and somewhat long tables. They also have this long bench outside for people to sit on. Place was clean, street parking only and gender neutral restroom. The original McConnell's was founded back in 1949 in Santa Barbara. My son and I were there not too long ago and tried the original one in SB. They also have 3 other locations including this one. The vibe just didn't rub me the right way. All employees were somewhat trying their best to be helpful. They also serve sorbet, baked goods (which were empty). I wanted to get a cookie or a muffin. Whatever was left didn't look appealing. They make smoothies, shakes, and sauces. Everything from scratch. Time to make a trip to Freddos.
