    Smoked Turkey
    Wanda H.

The turkey was good, with a bit of smoke flavor. The green beans were void of ANY flavor. The coleslaw was the best of all. A vinegar slaw that wasn't too sweet, but sweet enough. Service was okay. Music being played didn't fit at all. Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but wouldn't refuse to either.

    Half Rack of Ribs

Grabbed dinner on a weekday an hour before closing and tried a variety of meats off their menu. They serve everything with Missouri style BBQ sauce, which is extremely sweet. Honestly, sweet BBQ is typically not my top choice, but the one here definitely grew on me the more that I had of it. Rack of Ribs (5/5): A MUST GET! Succulent, fatty, flavorful meat that falls off the bone. I would definitely go out of my way for this alone and a standout amongst all the menu items I tried here. Genuinely cannot recommend this enough :) Brisket (2.75/5): This might have been because I went towards the end of the day, but I found the brisket to be extremely dry. Typically, I take that as a sign of not enough fat, but it was okay if you dipped it in the barbecue sauce. Sausage (3/5): Decent sausage that is juicy, but honestly nothing special here. If you're craving sausage, this would satisfy you, but it won't knock your socks off. Potato Salad and Coleslaw (3.5/5): Savory and satisfying. Not the most mind blowing sides I have ever had, but they cut through the fattiness of the BBQ nicely. The coleslaw is not mayonnaise forward as I was expecting, but I enjoyed the freshness and acidity. Potato salad had the satisfying mix of textures between mashed and chunks of potato.

    Combo with 3 meats

Ordered two 3-meat tray to go. 1st one - sausage, turkey, pulled pork with wedges and potato salad. 2nd one - spicy sausage, ribs and brisket with baked beans and green beans. One major issue - the 2nd combo, instead of getting the brisket, they gave us pulled pork (didn't noticed until we got home). This establishment also only offers one kind of BBQ sauce... of all the BBQ joints I've been to, they typically will offer 3+ different BBQ sauces. My favorite was the rib. It was juicy, meat came off the bones easily and it was seasoned well. I also liked their potato salad. I would skip the green beans, as it did not have any seasoning. Their baked beans were ok. I wasn't fan of their regular or hot sausage links. As for the turkey meat, it had the texture of turkey lunch meat. If I made a return visit, I would stick to the ribs, potato salad and their potato wedges.

3 meat combo. Beans and coleslaw sides. Spicy sausage, ribs, and pork.

I was staying at the Best Western next door so Sweetwater was an easy walk. I bought a 3 meat combo and some chicken wings. Cost under $20 and included 2 sides. At 4:30pm there were a few people eating in the dining room. Service was very fast for my take out. I waited perhaps 10 minutes. The spicy sausage wasn't spicy, in your face. It was sneaky spicy. Very nice. Rib meat fell off the bone and were also tasty. Pulled pork was good too. I had regular sauce on the meats and spicy on the wings. Food was good. Service was great. Price was great.

Beef brisket, sausages, bbq beans, fries, toast, & peach cobbler.

Underwhelming place. Im a big fan of small mom/pop locations but this one was very disappointing. I am not a bbq expert but this was not what I was expecting. Ate here based on hotel recommendation so I thought it was going to be ok. Rooting for an improvement. 1). Food. Needs improvement. Not a lot of taste. - beef brisket. Im comparing it to the BBQ I had while visiting Memphis. This one had no taste. Had to drown it with BBQ sauce for it yo taste anything. - sausages. Regular taste. Nice and safe order. - BBQ beans. Not a beans fan but I enjoyed Memphis beans. This one, not so much. Not tasty enough. - fries. Soggy. Disappointing. - peach cobbler. This is not bad. Would be better with ice cream. - sweet tea. Not sweet. Not enough taste. 2). Customer Service. Below average because the wait was very long even though they were not too busy. - check your receipts. They overcharged me for 2 drinks even though I only ordered 1 sweet tea. Didn't argue as I didn't want them to do something to my order. 3). Atmosphere. Decent spot. Homey. Kinda clean. Not bad. 4). Others. Plenty of parking. Off the freeway (44) or what was Route 66. This is the only BBQ place in the area. Don't go here if you want real/good BBQ. Go here if you are hungry and starving really bad. Get your kicks on Route 66 - not just this one. Hope that they improve.

Service was wonderful! Food was delicious, especially the ribs, meat fell right off the bone. Great family owned place. We've been coming here for years every time we pass by!

Wow wow wow!! Best ribs I've ever had in my life! The chicken is fantastic too! I would drive from NJ to Sweetwster again just to have them. Fall off the bone amazement!! Super nice Chef too! You can't miss this stop. And go to Uranus to it's right around the corner!

Brisket tender, but too dry to eat without sauce, and the sauce is, . Chicken perfectly cooked, but no flavor. Sausage is plain. Slaw is different, but I'm not in Texas. Beans look and taste like they came out of a can. Drink dispenser needs calibration, root beer is mostly carbonation. No Wifi. 3pm, no crowds. Found this on a drive by while cruising old Route 66, looked promising. I'm not normally a BBQ guy, but had a hankering. Every meat was piled on top the bread, rendering the bread useless. I guess this is how it's done in Missouri. Three meat special with a drink $15.62

All meats were delicious. The sides lacked taste. Not impressed with all the reviews it got.

He had a turkey club and I had a turkey avocado sandwich on multigrain. For sides we had cucumber salad, potato salad, and mac & cheese. A word of surprise, the potato salad is served warm, but it was really tasty. The only disappointment was the mac & cheese, which was grainy and soup-like with very overcooked noodles in it. They had no discernible shape and almost seemed like egg noodles oddly enough. We enjoyed our drinks, sandwiches and salads very much.

Such a cute, cozy place. It was like stepping into a warm cafe in another land…read more I started with a seasonal latte that had hints of toasted marshmallows, cinnamon, and pumpkin. Followed by a Monte Cristo. The bread was so light and fluffy. The saltiness of the meat with the sweetness of the bread and sugar with a little spread of raspberry preserves delighted the tastebuds. The side of fruit was large and seasonally appropriate. You order at the counter, where I think the owner was taking the orders and the accent definitely sounded authentic German like the name of the restaurant. She was lovely. Everything is made fresh so sit back and relax and the dining area is designed perfect for that with couches, cozy chairs and comfortable seats at the tables. I looked up what the name means: "Drachenfutter" is also a term used to describe gifts or treats that someone might bring home for their significant other when they feel guilty about coming home late or drunk. True to the "gift" part of the name, you can take yummy homemade treats home with you and they do have a section of gifts you can buy. A nice gem of a place along Historic Route 66.
