Sweetwaters is a great spot for a pick me up or treat, and many are good locations for working. This one is in the Kerrytown Market so it's not as spacious. It's also by an entrance so there is a bit a draft in the colder months. I got an iced pistachio latte and Nate got a seasonal mocha drink. Our drinks were made quickly but they didn't take a name for the order, so listen carefully for them to call out your drink. The latte was super smooth and tasty, and I loved the addition of the pistachio flavor. They have sweet treats and sandwiches, and this location also has a bar. Parking in this area can be a bit tricky, but we stopped here twice in two days and lucked out with a spot in the small parking lot right outside the building. I like Sweetwaters in general but this one isn't as great for working, in my opinion. It's just a little cramped and kind of bustling so I prefer the Westgate location for getting some work done. read more

The red-haired man is hella good at his job. Sweet, responsive, and attentive to detail when making your drink. On the other hand, the Asian woman is horrible. Insane attitude makes the drinks horrible every time and refuses to change it to your liking if you ask politely (even though you asked the first time you ordered). She's snappy, rude, and has a lot to say in return when you let her know she didn't make your drink right the first time. This isn't the first or second time she's done this. I've been really patient and never wrote reviews before because I think it's redundant, but I truly believe people need to know this before coming here. Every time I walk into this store and order, my hopes of a good drink are crushed when seeing this woman. To add, the girl with black hair, piercings, and glasses is also the rudest barista I've ever met. She's worse than the first woman I wrote about. She got mad when I asked for a cup of whipped cream, she gets mad when you ask for anything other than black coffee, and she gives me rude looks every time I order something. When she gets it wrong and I ask politely for her to fix it she gets all rude and refuses to do it or does it in a passive-aggressive way and still gets it wrong. This is a wild review coming from me because I'm quiet, shy, and don't usually speak up when ordering or when a server gets something wrong with my order. I think I like the cold brew coffees from Sweetwaters more than I like the hot espresso beverages but they still hit the spot on a cold, gloomy day. This particular location is right in the Kerrytown markets which I love because I can get a little pick me up when running into the market to hit the butcher or fish counter (or I'm just in the neighborhood hitting some of the other great shops around there). A lot of places are short staffed these days but I was impressed to see three people behind the counter during the busy afternoon (two making drinks and one ringing folks up). FYI because of its close proximity to the HS school the late afternoons (2ish?) can get a bit crowded with the youths when they're let out for the day. So be prepared to wait a little bit if that's the case. I wasn't expecting it to be so crowded at that time of day but they were still swift at preparing my drink. Thumbs up! read more

I always order Ginger Fizz at the Novi location. It is so full of flavor, has the crushed ice, and they pour the Perrier water in front of you. I mention this because I was at Kerrytown with my friend and I've been hyping up the Ginger Fizz to her. I ordered one for her and boy, was it a waste of $5. It was bland, had a ton of "regular" ice, and there was no fizz. The color of the Ginger Fizz in my photo is not from it being watered down from the ice, the light color shows how watered down it was from the start. read more

Ive spent a lot of time here over the past 5 years. I love this spot because it's in Kerrytown (which is my fav) and connected to Sparrow market so I can grab groceries after I'm done or get lunch in the building or nearby. It's really just a cozy atmosphere to me where I can get done work done or read a book and sip on a tea.The staff is friendly and they typically have several treats on display from local vendors. Heads up due to short staffing like the rest of the world they have temporary hours and are only open until 7pm right now. Hoping they return to their normal 11pm hours soon but they don't really have control. Be kind! read more

Sweetwaters in Kerrytown offers standard coffee and tea faire. The coffee is good. Pastries and food are good. Prices are normal. Lots of parking with a couple of public lots nearby. The crowd is older than the University population. I would not call it cozy. This coffee shop would not be my first choice to curl up and read a book. There is much coming and going, which makes it loud. Ample seating and tables for working or hanging out. Wifi works. read more

Solid coffee place with good food! Had to post up here for a few hours early and it was a perfect place to eat, caffienate and do some work! There are plenty of outlets, wifi is fairly good, and plenty of options! Had one of their breakfast sandwiches with turkey, and it was really, really delicious. I had no idea this was the original Sweetwaters location! I love coming here to do work and it's always a nice noisy but not too noisy environment - my ideal productivity environment. Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea is conveniently located in the Kerrytown Shops in a shared space with Sparrow Market. I enjoyed an incredibly delicious vanilla cappuccino here the other morning before picking up some groceries at Sparrow Market. I also enjoyed a tasty slice of the Sour Cream Coffee Cake which was moist and full of cinnamon goodness. My only disappointment with the food/service was that the server gave me a slice that was clearly missing part of the cake which kinda bummed me out because it wasn't a big slice to start with. Anyway, this seems like a good place to enjoy a cup of coffee while getting some work done as I saw several people with laptops out and it seemed like they had plenty of space to work at their table. However, it's probably a good idea to bring earphones to listen to music or earplugs as this place can be quite busy on the weekends and it shares an open wall with Sparrow Market. I'll definitely be back to enjoy a coffee and check out some of the other tempting bakery items. Several items in particular caught my eye and I couldn't resist taking a photo: the chocolate croissant, almond croissant, raspberry cupcake, and bite-sized macarons - YUM! read more

I love this location because I'm either at Zingerman's or the farmers market so I can pop in for my Ginger Fizz! I've been getting that drink with my daughter for a decade and we always stop here when we're in town. This location is also dog friendly and you can pick up a few groceries before you hit the road from the attached store. Everyone that works here has always been very friendly as well! read more

Love Kerrytown, and love this coffee shop attached to a market/grocery store! Bonus points for their vegan muffin option, although it'd be great if there was more than one vegan pastry option. I was also happily surprised to have my tea arrive in a pot, rather than a single cup. I sat here for 3 hours with my laptop and a lot of tea during a recent work trip and enjoyed watching the passerby through their huge windows that look out onto the bustle of Kerrytown. Cozy and sometimes busy caffeine shop. Visited for a nightcap of chamomile tea after crashing on Ann Arbor for the day. The menu board is large printed and unlike most places where it's located behind the counter, it's available for viewing within arms distance while you wait in line. I enjoyed how warm tea was served, already steeping in an individual tea pot. Enough water for two cups of teas as well. Relaxed in the sofa lounge chairs around a table which added another level of relaxation. They also sell most of their tea and coffee for purchase, if you find something you like. read more

I happily drank my iced coffee while my husband worked, and he said the wi-fi was really fast, even faster than his work and our home. A nice place to grab a coffee or tea and a scone while perusing Kerrytown Shops. However, the employees could spend a few minutes cleaning up the tables and disposing of trash once in awhile. It wouldn't hurt. As cafes go, Sweetwater's carries a large selection of teas and the vanilla lattes are good, if not outstanding. Scones and muffins are just okay and I don't particularly recommend them. Sometimes they taste a bit stale and are nothing out of the ordinary. I can get the same thing from the bakery section of my local grocery store. This is not the most relaxing Sweetwaters location in Ann Arbor, to be sure, but it's convenient for the shoppers in Kerrytown. Sometimes it's so bustling, there isn't any place to sit down, so be forewarned. They have free Wi-Fi, but sometimes the signal is kinda slow. read more

I like this location because of its coziness and there, well, was a great view overlooking Kerrytown before construction started. Despite being located in the Kerrytown shops, the coffee shop​ and its seating are located as soon as you enter the shops, meaning that this Sweetwaters location doesn't​ have its own storefront. So as an out of Towner I was looking forward to this cool little spot Kerrytown in Ann Arbor. Got to Sweetwaters and while the coffee is ok, they have limited their probably around 10 tables to 4 inside which are so far spaced which is a bit extreme. Oh well, they have a nice sidewalk area with around 6-7 tables. I'm sure there is better coffee around but Sweetwaters in Kerrytown is a neat little area. read more

I come here at least twice a week to study. The tables are fairly small for studying but you can make it work. The shop is not quite as loud like Starbucks or espresso royale, which is a plus. I usually order the overnight cold brew coffee since it has a kick to it. I ordered a Vietnamese coffee yesterday since I drink that coffee back home. The taste isn't quite there. I think it has slightly too much condensed milk. Also, they also foamed the milk which is not how it's done on traditional Vietnamese coffee. I would recommend just adding a little bit of condensed milk and pouring dark, thick coffee. They should also offer the coffee with ice since that's pretty typical. Otherwise, I think it's a pretty cute coffee shop and a nice study spot! read more

For some reason, this cute coffee shop became a popular meeting spot for group projects. It's probably because it's conveniently located away from the more popular coffee shops, such as Espresso Royale and Starbuck's on State Street. If you are going solo, there's a couple of comfy individual couch seats to choose from. Some are close to plugs for your laptop. Tea is pretty good. I usually bought their little bags of gummy bears and slices of bread too. I'm such a sucker. If you're not a student, I suggest you print out a copy of the midterms/finals schedule. It gets pretty crowded a few days to a week prior to those times. You have to grab your cozy spot early on. read more

I love Sweetwaters :) I live in Kerrytown, so as I make my way home I always seem to end up grabbing a little something in here first. The staff is generally friendly and make an attempt at conversation rather than just standing in silence as they work. They make my lattes just as I like them and don't get an attitude when I try to customize them. I'm that "nonfat, no foam, one-pump" obnoxious girl, but they don't seem to get too irritated with me. Aside from that, the crowd is usually very good for people-watching and I like that the coffee shop flows right into the Sparrow market and the rest of the shops at Kerrytown. I'm anxious to try the food items sometime soon. read more

3.5 stars Really good coffee especially espresso-based drinks. Tea is just so-so if you are a real tea drinker, it's been a struggle to find good tea shops in U.S. that sell straightforward but high quality teas. Cookies are usually on the too-sweet side for me. On the other hand, "Raspberry Dream" is a puff pastry that looks like a doughnut but tastes more like a croissant filled with jam. Raspberry tartness balances out the sugar-ness nicely. Overall, a better place to stop for a coffee than the chain stores. read more

I lived in the Pacific NW for 5-ish years and am therefore officially a coffee snob. And yeah, maybe they get a point knocked off for not offering me a mug or for not even attempting to create a cute little heart out of my foam, but I like Sweetwater in Kerrytown for the environment alone, and in the end that is good enough for me! It's a little off the beaten path (i.e. away from the students), great for people watching, and a super comfy place to kick up your feet by yourself or with a couple of friends, especially before or after a jaunt at the saturday market. This place is super cute. It is in a shopping 'plaza' which is a two story indoor complex with a bunch of shops, including a grocery store. The staff was super friendly and seemed fenuine, def customer service oriented. I got an iced dragon, if i remember the name correctly. It was a frozen espresso drink that was caramel flavored. It was delicious and perfectly blended. The only downside was that i had to walk through a fish market/ counter to get there. They have plenty of comfortable seating, high and low tops as well as comfy chairs and outlets for charging. read more

Definitely not one of my favorite locations. I've come here on multiple occasions, and each time I'm left wanting a little bit more. And not speaking to wanting more sweets or coffee, but wanting more from the entire experience and the staff. The first time we came, I decided to get a small latte, and when I went to go pick it up I almost threw it over my shoulder with how light it was. And on further inspection, the entire cup was foam. I did take it back and asked for another, and they graciously provided me with a correct drink. The Latte itself was just okay, nothing extraordinary. The second time I came, I ordered a ginger soda and it was actually pretty good. The ginger taste was clear, tangy and very refreshing. The soda itself made for a wonderful summer beverage. Overall the staff were just there, understandably busy from a Saturday Farmers Market perspective, but nothing was out of the ordinary to make me feel like a truly valued customer or someone who should come back and make this their usual coffee spot. If you're just looking for a coffee, or summer refreshment, it would be decent place to go. read more

Normally I like Sweetwaters, but today I went in and had a bad experience. The girl taking my order was kind of rude when I didn't know the exact name of an item on the menu (I asked for a chai tea, when I guess it's just called chai?) I ordered a soy drink and they ended up making it with milk instead. I didn't realize this until a few hours later when I became very ill (and probably will be for the next few days). Be careful if you drink soy out of necessity! They do have good vegan muffins though. read more

On my first visit while in town for a speaking gig, really enjoyed the green matcha latte-- creamy, smooth, just sweet enough and with the caffeine and antiox to start my day. 3.5 Stars I felt the price of the teas were expensive for single serving. However, $2.50 for a pot of tea isn't too bad if you plan on hunkering down in this coffee shop for a while. We ordered the lemon ginger and chai to go. I wouldn't consider the lemon ginger to be a tea, per se--more of a lemon ginger syrup. True to Sweetwaters' name, it was overly sweet but I can definitely see its benefits if you're feeling under the weather. It was a much-needed pick-me-up since it was cold this week. I actually watered it down with more hot water when I got home and the flavor improved immensely. My boyfriend's chai was fine. He also mentioned it being very sweet. There was a snafu with his order as well--he wasn't paying attention and a girl grabbed his chai (with milk). She was actually waiting for a soy chai. Well, he ended up with the soy chai because he didn't want to wait for another order. So now I'm searching Yelp for a one-star review of an angry lactose-intolerant girl who will blame Sweetwaters for making her chai with milk. So far I haven't seen any such review, so hopefully she enjoyed it and didn't spend the rest of the afternoon on the toilet. read more

I wrote a review for the downtown Ann Arbor Sweetwaters location but I wanted to add one for this location too. Service here is outstanding and If you are a visitor to the city or even if you are a student who spends time outside of this area...check it out. This area of Ann Arbor, the Kerrytown area, is a very nice place to spend a day. There are nice breakfast and lunch places and there are nice, smaller shops as well. There is also the Farmer's Market which would merit another review (it's fun and I've been many times)! With Sweetwaters itself, I really like the teas, particularly the ginger lemon and the jasmine. They are not overpowering in flavor. I've had the passion fruit tea as well and it was bold and flavorful and a nice change from the usuals that I order. They also have nice scones and cookies and other desserts. It's worth a trip out to the Kerrytown area, and if you are there this is a nice place to stop in for a rest with a cup of tea (or coffee) and some snacks! read more

I still feel like it's really random to see this place closed off behind glass in Kerrytown shops, but it is convenient if you live nearby and, hey, if you want you can buy a fryer on your way home. I'm a big fan of getting a iced latte. However, I get it large with only one shot of espresso, and I make sure that the espresso is the Abianno because that is their premium espresso. It is a delicous coffee drink for the hot weather. Some baristas charge me full price, some charge me only for a single. the way around this is just to bring your own mug. read more
