Tim, I see that a large number of the negative reviews have resulted in attacks from you. You cannot hide behind being "thin skinned." You are responsible for managing that and treating your customers with respect and offering good customer service if you care about your customers or their reviews. If you do, people would probably come back despite their negative experience. I would have likely been back at your business ordering my favorite, but at this point I can't in good conscious because your responses are just crazy to come from an owner directed at a long term repeat customer. One of my favorite places is Barrel Thief, but with it being closed next door, I wandered into SWeL! Service was fantastic from the start. Attentive but not annoying, informative but not overdone. My date and I ordered an Espresso Martini. I personally didn't care for it that much however I can see how many people would like it. I prefer the classic recipe and this one had a little bit of a twist to it but was still very interesting. After that we ordered a delicious flatbread pizza with Pear, Gorgonzola cheese, pinenuts and pesto. This pizza was absolutely to die for I wish we had ordered a second flatbread pizza because there were several other kinds that were intriguing! For dessert we enjoyed, at the recommendation of one of the service staff, probably the best bread pudding I have ever had in my entire life. And I eat bread pudding! Do yourself a favor and check this out - at least just for dessert and a drink! But their menu is so impressive you will want to have a full meal there! I had a really lovely time dining at SWeL with my buddy. We were on our way back from checking out Kerry Park for its view and decided that we wanted a place that served higher end pizza and wine. A quick search took us here and to my surprise, he had been here previously and said it was a good spot. He was not wrong! SWeL is what you'd call a "New-American" restaurant with new takes on old classics and a beer/wine list that will last all night. The atmosphere inside is very trendy with TV monitors around, making it good when there's a game on. Otherwise, it's very loungey if you are into that type of environment for dinner or drinks. Sitting at a bar area, we ordered their Calamari ($12.75) and a small Italian Sausage Pizza ($10.75). The calamari was surprising because it wasn't the traditional battered and deep-fried dish you'd come to expect from a lot of restaurants. Rather, there was a great spice to its grilled nature that is eventually served on a bed of arugula. This was an absolute standout of an appetizer. Our flat bread pizza was also very good- shaped like a giant piece of naan with all the meaty fixings on top. It made for a great snack portion with a good glass of red. Our servers were constantly checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed for the night. With their extensive wine list, we were bummed when we realized some of the ones we wanted to try did not offer a glass option and limited it to the entire bottle. Food was AMAZING. I'm not typically impressed with restaurants in this price $$-$$$ range but this was amazing. The meal was about $40-45 per person. We got three mains and a drink to share. Though the portion sizes weren't huge to make you very full, it's enough to make you healthy full. Service 10/10. Honestly the best service I've gotten a while. So patient and friendly. Regularly checked in on us and gave great recs!! Ambiance was out of this world. Great catch up night with the girls, but also could be a wonderful date spot. Awesome spot for an intimate dinner with a few people! I visited SWeL for the first time recently and loved the ambiance. It was a bit loud but also very cozy because it was a small space with nice warm lighting. The menu was somewhat small, but I appreciate this because it makes me feel like a lot of thought was put into those dishes. For dinner I had the 'French Cut Pork Chop' (5/5). This was delicious! The pork was perfectly cooked so that it was easy to cut and eat, but not overcooked so that it was falling apart. The pork was also seasoned simply and beautifully with strong salt and pepper flavors. The dish was also served with decadent, creamy mashed potatoes. They were very smooth and had a delicious amount of butter. The last piece of the dish was a serving of large mushrooms that tasted pickled. The acidity from these mushrooms cut the flavors from the pork and potatoes so well, I had to be sure I got all three things in each bite! My only complaint is that I needed more mushrooms! For dessert we had the 'Bread Pudding' (5/5). This dish was very heavy but tasted amazing. It had a perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors as well as hot and cold with the vanilla ice cream on top! SWeL was definitely pricey, but I felt like I got what I paid for. The serving size for my own dish was generous and the overall experience was lovely. The wait staff was also very friendly and accomodating! I'll definitely be back. read more

This place was too cute not to try when we visited. The atmosphere is intimate and perfect for a date. However........ Called in to see if a reservation was necessary. I don't know if it was too loud for the girl to hear or she was new. I asked if it was busy and if I needed a reservation for that night two hours later. She said it wouldn't be bad but took the reservation anyway. We showed up two hours later to no reservation. Luckily we were sat right away regardless. I received a text the next day for a reservation; we had left the state by then. Once we got our table, a bartender asked if we were ready to order but we needed another minute. No one came back for 20 minutes until we flagged someone down. All tables around us had their drink and food orders taken and were check on multiple times. Half hour later the bartender came back. Cool. Luckily, the food is worth it. We started with the CHEESY SCALLOP appetizer. It was piping hot and super delicious. Swerved with some toasted bread. I couldn't stop eating! CALAMARI came out the same time and it did not disappoint. We loved that it wasn't breaded. It was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was great. The SEAFOOD PASTA was amazing. Loved the sauce. My boyfriend and I were visiting from California, exploring the city and we wanted pizza for dinner one night and just so happened to stumble upon this place. Let me just say I'm glad we did. If you're looking for a spot with great food and a romantic atmosphere, than look no further. The staff were very friendly not to mention our server, she gave great recommendations, so good we couldn't decide on one pizza and ended up getting three so we could take some back to our Airbnb. So fresh and we wished we could have ordered a dozen more. The we ordered the Caesar salad - delicious - and then the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon and the seafood linguini. The flavors were outstanding. The linguini had a bit of red pepper for a nice heat. Salmon had smoky spice flavor. They have a great selection of wines plus a full bar. We chose the pear bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream-plenty for two. It was so yummy! And the service was impeccable too. We were so glad to find this wonderful place to have dinner. read more

I found this restaurant to be very overrated in terms of the food. It's a lovely location and ambience and the service was exceptional. But the mains were not very good. The appetizers were decent like the scallops. And the Caesar salad was amazing. But I ordered the steak - it was fine but nothing exceptional and the sides ( potatoes) were actually bad. Came to celebrate my friends birthday and am so glad we chose to eat here! We got the bruschetta and grilled calamari to start, and their seafood pasta dish. The bruschetta was good, but not the best I've had. The calamari however was AMAZING, so tender and seasoned perfectly. Our pasta was delicious too and had a great serving of seafood which was wonderful to see. We finished the night off with a cookie skillet that was perfectly sweet yet still classic. First time patron and came on a date night with my wife. All the menus - entree, salad, appetizer, drinks - looked interesting and worth exploring. Turned out the daily specials were quite appealing as well (NY steak Delmonico!). She decided on seafood linguine alfredo and, for me, the filet mignon. Her dish was very nicely done in every way: quantity, quality, sauce not overpowering the shellfish. My filet was cooked just right and was sized right for one person. The steak comes with a cabernet-peppercorn (or was it peppercorn?) reduction that the menu said had been reducing for two days. Sides of dainty, slender carrots, asparagus, and potatoes cubed and baked. I found the sauce rather disappointing, neither tasting of cabernet or peppercorn in any distinctive way. Rather more like a modestly thickened sauce with a vague and distant wine flavor and not much else. It wasn't bad...it almost wasn't anything. The carrots and asparagus had been overcooked, but not to the point of total mush. The potatoes needed a bit more crisp on the outside and moisture on the inside - like they had been staying warm in a warming drawer - and less salt. There were no fatal flaws in the dish, however, and I would order it again if it were fifteen dollars cheaper. And, as stated, the pasta dish really shined, including the crostini-like bread it was served with. What really bothered me and my wife was the strongly scented candles that must have been lit around the restaurant. It was not a bad scent, but was the strongest of any restaurant I've ever been. In fact, I can't really think of a restaurant where scented candles were even noticeable. It was strong enough that any red or white wine would be unable to be appreciated on the nose because of the powerful aroma in the air. I don't know how it would affect taste because we didn't have any alcohol. Except for the scent, we would probably come back. read more

I recognized immediately that my dish had the ingredient and it was confirmed by the waitress. The owner, Ted was so kind and easy to work with even though I was in a different city. Our waiter, Sam, was attentive and knowledgeable. Everyone was very impressed. Swel was able to take our 18 top with a 24 hour notice. They were so flexible and very communicative about the menu and seating ahead of time which made it really easy for our team to enjoy the drinks and food without the chaos of ordering for a large group. We love Fremont and love this restaurant! There not too many quality places to eat on the fly with large groups in the area so we will definitely be back.
