My friends planned the most wonderful dinner experience at Bar Cantinetta for my going away party. I was completely taken aback by the views from their rooftop private experience. Hugo was our bartender and server, he was so helpful and friendly, helping me navigate getting everyone up to the table with ease and grace. Chef Donny made excellent food! There was an amazing chilled pea soup with crab that I cannot stop talking about. Both pasta dishes were so delicious we were basically scraping the plate towards the end. Very unpleasant experience. We ate there Saturday night March 14. We had reservations for 4 people at 830pm. It started with our table not being available. Not something I blame the restaurant. However, our first negative experience, the host offered to get us drinks from the bar and said he "got them" for us. He did not. They were on our check at the end of the night. We asked him about this and he said, oh - those weren't comped. Incredibly disappointing after spending almost $400 on dinner and drinks at the table AND waiting about 30 minutes for our table. We were on time for our reservations. Next, we ordered an appetizer and it arrived with a hair in it! We were appalled by it and when we let the server know he quickly removed it and brought us a new one. It was the Fontina Fonduta. But what was so disappointing was there was no apology and no management to stop by and acknowledge or address. And it was on the bill! Lastly, our server was, it appeared, too busy with other tables and we were ignored. Waters and drinks weren't refilled often. Dishes not removed. We love the Bellevue Cantinetta location and have always had amazing food and service there. Terribly disappointed in Bar Cantinetta and hope others have a better experience. If a manager doesn't acknowledge an issue, I'd strongly recommend asking to speak with the manager. We didn't and should have. We were a bit in shock and disappointed by the experience and wanted to move on. The food was just OK too. Two had the cod and it was VERY salty! My wife had a pasta dish recommended and it was OK - small portion. I had the mushroom pizza - it was excellent! I do recommend that! For reference, we paid and departed at 11:30 pm. Normally that may be due to visiting with friends, in this case it was slow/poor service. I hope you have a better experience. read more

The same team from the time when it was im Madison area. I love some of the newly added menu items along with rhe old favorites. I loved the beef tender rib over the risotto. That was simply amazing. What's amazing is Hugo/George, the bar manager still remembered my drink just.the way I like them It was a perfect drink to finish my long day at work. So the crux of my review is that the food was really tasty, but they had quite small portions especially for price. I had an app and a pasta and left hungry. My partner shared the app with me and had a flatbread and was also somewhat hungry too. The service was really good through most of the meal, though when they got busy later we did wait a little while to ask for the check after plates were cleared, but we weren't in a hurry so it was fine and the service was overall very attentive. The ambiance was pretty cool because it was classy and modern, though I didn't love our table behind the column as it made it difficult to see the windows. Would recommend a reservation if you're coming at 6 or later. read more

Pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! I'm a local to the neighborhood and have been waiting for this Italian spot to open! When I saw they were offering a Restaurant Week deal, I knew I had to try it. I made a reservation for two about a week in advance for a weeknight and it was already pretty filled up, so be sure to make a reservation in advance. Right when you walk in, it's a jaw dropping entrance that you wouldn't know from the outside. The host was super attentivene with a friendly demeanor, greeting us immediately. We were seated at the table for two right at the front so it was bustling, with the door opening, people walking in and waiting for their table. Since our dinner started at 5:30PM we got to see the transition from early evening into the later evening. It got pretty loud but that's what to expect. Absolutely loved the European moody ambiance with arches, wooden beams, candles, and artwork. Since it was restaurant week, pretty simple menu to select from. It was four courses and it was two of us so we got to try a lot of things. We started with the caesar salad and rainbow carrots. The salad was lightly seasoned and fresh while the carrots were glazed, roasted and on the sweeter side. A nice light start to dinner. Next was the lobster tagliarini and short rib ravioli. The tagliarini was so thin and light, and the sauce was delicious. The ravioli was my favorite, with a generous amount of meat and complimenting sauce. For the next course, we got scallops and steak. The scallops were cooked perfectly with a creamy herb sauce on top. The sauce was the highlight for sure. The steak was cooked exactly how we liked it with mashed potatoes. So tasty! We finished with dessert: olive oil cake and hazelnut affogato. Together they paired very well and was a fabulous end to the meal! Additionally, the service was wonderful. Our server was so friendly. Our plates and utensils were replaced a few times, water was refilled quickly, and we were asked multiple times how everything was going. Even when the food came out a little quicker than expected while we were still on our first course, our server apologized but it was all good for us. I was pleasantly full from everything and so happy with we tried this place out! Service was great and the ambiance felt like nothing I've experienced in Seattle before. Everything was a 10/10. We started with a prosciutto plate and prosecco. Then my Ribeye with carrots and asparagus came out. Ribeye was perfectly cooked and the waiter perfectly paired a red wine for me. I almost ordered my son a kids plate but opted for the ragu on the menu and I'm so glad I did. The only issue was he did not want to share! Ended dinner with the apple cake and donuts and they were both amazing. The service was attentive and many people came by to check on us. had a lovely dinner sitting at the bar on a Monday night. the ambiance is incredible and felt so cozy on an otherwise dreary night. Started with the Caesar, which easily could be shared between two. The short rib risotto was some of the best risotto I've had - didn't leave a single morsel behind. Ended my dinner with an affogato. Bar Cantinetta nails that perfect "night-out" vibe. The atmosphere is super vibey with warm lighting and a lively crowd -- it is slightly loud, so expect more of an energetic buzz than a quiet dinner spot. Service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was attentive without hovering and staff gave great recommendations. And the food? Phenomenal. Every dish we ordered was great, feeling authentic and fresh With my favorite being Tagliatelle Carbonara. Everything was delicious! Went here for a friends bday. The truffle fondue, prosciutto, and bolognese were delicious. BUT we had one thing that rubbed me the wrong way. I made a reservation for 2, but when we showed up (on time), there wasn't a table ready so we sat at the bar. The bartender was lovely (I think his name was Chris), except that once we finished the bottle of wine that we ordered - he'd been keeping it chilled behind the bar, he started pouring us a different wine without asking, and then charged us for it in the end. When I inquired about it, he said he'd been pouring us different wine for a couple glasses but didn't tell us. He took off one of the two charged glass, but still charged us for one. Amazing new cozy Italian spot right on 15th in North Capitol Hill. We walked by it a few times. The lighting, the packed house and giant windows all around catches your attention. Very romantic. Arrived for Saturday 9pm reservations and the place was humming. Trevor and Hugo were at the door and Hugo brought us to the bar while our table was turning over. Conor behind the bar set us up with cocktails. Once we were seated Georgie and Cory took good care of us. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming that I actually remembered their names. The two of us shared the papardelle and carbonara, misto salad and steak tartare (amazingly well seasoned). The food and wine were excellent. We will be back soon! read more

Let's not talk about the food or the decor or the service, which are all lovely. Let's consider the sound levels. It's somewhat ironic that a restaurant clearly targeting high- end diners in a high-end neighborhood would design an environment unfriendly to customers who are skewing older by default. It took months to build out this space. It's carefully crafted to invite a comforting Tuscan vibe. The acoustics are clearly intentional. And there's a playlist, too. Yes, people often love the bustling roar of a trendy restaurant, but I can't imagine that working here. It's too small and cozy with a menu and price point that calls for repeat empty nesters and curious tech folks. Would diners in a decidedly quiet corner of Capitol Hill really want to shout over a $600 bottle of wine? Maybe these experienced restaurateurs can find a pleasant compromise on noise, but we can't see returning when it's literally impossible to converse.
