    My first experience here - for the price, I would have expected a) above average salon care and b) results without issues. Over $400 later, I left with a big line in the middle of my hair and feeling confused (I was quoted in the $200s when I made the appointment, which was on par for what I'd expect). The haircut was trimming the ends, took less than 5 mins. I've never had a $200 balayage not include the bleach, root fixing, etc... unfortunate experience, but wanted to share as most of the reviews don't show what I felt

    I went to this salon for the first time since I moved to Old Town! I went in for a balayage touch up after my brunette hair with brown/ blonde balayage was getting brassy and my roots grew out. Visit 1) I think there was a miscommunication with me and my stylist, and I ended up getting a color I disliked with my balayage. I stated I didn't want brassy or warm or blonde colors in my balayage and I ended up with the colors in the picture titled "visit 1". I felt rushed through the initial conversation when explaining what color i wanted& I felt deprioritized for another client who was booked during my time Visit 2) I went in for a consultation and my stylist was so nice and understanding when I explained I didn't like the color and just wanted it to be darker overall and didn't want it to be brassy at all. The hair salon HANDLED THE SITUATION SO WELL!!! She told me they would redo it complimentary - such great customer service!! Pro tip: find a stylist that knows how to operate on dark brunette hair. As soon as I saw this second stylist she looked at my hair and knew the problem and said she tones brunettes differently. This experience was great, I could relax in my chair this whole time and I felt like a priority. OVERALL PRO's: 1. Great customer service, redid my hair complimentary when I came in and expressed discontent after the first visit. They made me feel listened too and didn't question me at all. They really embody the ideal that the customer is right and it's refreshing to see a business operate this way! 2. Jennifer as a stylist! She really listened to what I wanted up front, asked good questions, didn't make me feel rushed when we talked about what I wanted, and she looked at all my pictures to understand what I wanted 3. Expertise of stylists - she realized that I had some waxy build up in my hair from my old shampoo and recommended a better shampoo for me , she explained my hair type and overall had good strategic recommendations for me and my hair! OVERALL CONS: 1. Non- transparent pricing. The price you book with online is not the price you get. this place charges separately for the materials on top of the base price (ie toner, shadow roots, etc) 2. Cash tips only - this is stated on their website!

    called this salon yesterday hoping someone would help cut the back of my hair because I've been trying to grow out v shaped layers by myself for a full year. Last October a stylist from another salon gave me a pointy long v shape without my permission and I've been trimming my own hair for a while. All the stylists here are very sweet and Emma took good care of me. She explained I'd probably reach my goal hopefully within a 6 month time frame. She evened out my hair in the back bringing me to a bob cut and ignored other layers to give them a chance to grow out more. This cut will be a work in progress and if I remain in Chicago for the winters season I will return here most definitely. My goal is to get back my curls where they should be and I'm confident Emma can do this with time. The salon here is clean and everyone here is friendly. The staff really seems to be on the ball and they all work really well together as a team. Payment is credit card but you have to tip in cash or venmo.

    I needed a stylist when a trip to see my daughter lasted longer than I anticipated . I was pretty nervous going to someone rather than my regular stylist back home plus I had been away from Chicago for a while and my old salon had closed. I was searching on line and by accident or actually luck, I found Hanna. I was really impressed with the pictures from this new stylist at Swerve. I made an appointment but still felt a bit of trepidation. That anxiousness was soon relieved after my consultation - I felt like she really got what I was looking to do and added a few more impressive suggestions. She was very knowledgeable and understanding. My cut and color made my hair vibrant , healthy-looking and brought many compliments. Hanna definitely knows her stuff and highly recommend her! It was a wonderful experience and the results well exceeded my expectations. Now I can't wait to see her again when I come back in town visit my daughter!

    We've recently moved to Chicago and one of the hardest parts of any cross-country move is finding a new stylist who gets you, loves what they do and does simply amazing hair. Fortunately for me, this time I found the perfect salon and stylist on the first try! Swerve is a marvelously cool, comfortable and expert salon and Grace is amazing with short hair. She's engaging, intuitive, gracious and exceptional at her craft. The pandemic and this move had me feeling really out of sorts with my hair, and after my time with Grace I feel like a new woman! If you're looking for a great place to get fresh and fabulous hair, you've found the place!

    I've been going to this salon on and off for years. I've never had an issue until now. It's been a single process for a while, however, I wanted to try the highlights for the root touch up. The root touch up w/highlights did not start at my roots and did not make any difference in the root touch up. I called the salon to complain to make the correction to redo the highlights. The hairstylist mentioned for me to come back in a week to correct it. I called to make an appointment. The manager called back and stated wait another 3 weeks to resolve my hair issue so my hair will be damaged. I would have to pay regular price or maybe discounted price. No thanks. I'll find a new salon. I'm not going back this salon. I've found a new salon (Anthony Cristiano) to correct the highlights.

A few days prior, I received a message that it needed to be rescheduled two weeks out. Although inconvenient, I understood and rescheduled for February 17, confirmed the appointment, and even took time off work. On January 30th, I was notified that the appointment needed to be moved yet again. While frustrated, I still wanted the service and agreed to reschedule, taking additional time off work to accommodate the new date. Two days before my appointment on the 24th, I received a confirmation text with the time and location. The following day, I was informed -- for the third time -- that the appointment needed to be rescheduled. At this point, the repeated lack of scheduling reliability is unacceptable. Clients arrange their work schedules and personal commitments around these appointments. Consistently rescheduling with little notice demonstrates a lack of organization and consideration for clients' time. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend booking here based on my experience. I will be taking my business elsewhere to a provider who values professionalism and follow-through. Even the man on the phone did not seem to care. This was an easy one-star decision.

Additionally, I'm not able to see as effective and long term results because my hair growth cycle is every 4 weeks but I am not able to get an appointment until every 6-8 weeks. Today I took the evening off work because the only time they had in the upcoming 2 weeks was at 4:15pm and they just canceled less than 8 hours in advance (pictured below). I highly would not recommend the unlimited package because they will take advantage of you and cancel your sessions last minute so that you're not able to get as many treatments. This happened to me 2 months ago as well.

There's no tipping culture here which means they must be paying their nurse practitioners an actual living wage and not passing that on to the customers. I pay a monthly fee which is set when I first signed up. I would highly recommend this location in particular. I went to another location once and the service there was a bit cold.

Even when I called then I was asked if I wanted to mask up and come in and I little taken aback at the staff and management's willingness to risk safety. I was then told well do you want to move it to later and my response was, "I will still have the flu later." They charged me but said it would be credited at my next appointment and it was. Fast forward. I have a birthday trip coming up and I originally booked my appointment for Wednesday morning but then changed it to Tuesday evening at 8:30. My car fob died and my car is push to start. I called them immediately and said I could uber but it would get me there five minutes after the grace period. They said I was the last appointment of the day so they wouldn't allow even though they're open til 9 and I would have made it by 8:45. I ask if I can come at 9 as they had complete open avails for Wednesday from 9 to 3 PM.. I was told no. I would be charged for tonight and then again the next day. I say this is ridiculous as I am a regular, this is out of my control and you've had no appointments all night except for me. I did not cost the business money. You are supposed to stay open til 9 and I have offered two solutions. I am not going to pay 150 for a wax because i am being double charged. So, I book elsewhere. This morning at 9 AM, I get a call saying they will grant me a one time courtesy to walk in between 9:30 and 4:00 as they have lots of openings. I state that I said this yesterday and they told me that they are enforcing policy and that yesterday I was told I could not make another appointment and this is different as it is a walk in. I said it isn't given that there's no one on the books. The point is, I could've been accommodated. I told them I booked elsewhere and I wont be back. Marking me as a no-show when I called ahead to explain what was going on is honestly a little crazy to me. They are so callous and cold. The front desk can be very non-chalant and rude. Happy to receive my services elsewhere moving forward. Update - they have responded saying this has happened multiple times. It literally has not. It happened one time when I had the flu. I had a doc appointment the same day and wanted to be proactive. At the end of the day your staff and this response is absolutely why I will not be coming back to your awful customer service. So I guess we are both fortunate and blessed. Calling me to offer an appointment I could have gotten yesterday and not allowing me to arrive three to five minutes after the grace period for a situation beyond my control is nuts. You close at 9. I would have been done by then. This establishment never needs to worry about me. Terrible management. Terrible staff. My favorite waver left and I will be following her regardless. She said she hated working here and your waxers consistently complain about how you make them uncomfortable and that these rules are unnecessary as you all do not stay booked - ie - all time slots open today from 9 to 3. Happy to clarify. For context: I booked a lash tint & wax and brow lamination. After chatting with the technician, we walked through my options and she recommended skipping the brow lamination since my wedding was only ~2 weeks away and suggested doing a simple brow tint and wax instead. Just to ensure I felt the most comfortable leading up to the big day. I appreciated the honesty, so we adjusted the service while keeping the same appointment time and still doing the lash services. (For the record, my technician was GREAT!) What bothered me was still being charged $125 + $28 for the lash tint, even though a brow tint and wax is $50. It's not like I was trying to shortchange anyone. The only difference was not doing the brow lamination, which was the most expensive part, and the change was based on the technician's own recommendation. It just feels like basic fairness. When I go in for a haircut, I may book a full session in case we decide to add highlights, but if we end up only doing a single process, my colorist doesn't charge me for highlights I didn't get, since we work together to see what we are feeling for color/cut, etc. That seems reasonable. The front desk's attitude didn't help either. That's the most annoying part and probably being blocked... As I mentioned previously, I won't be returning. Luckily, Chicago has plenty of other options.
