My wife was in severe pain from an injury and couldn't get up and down from sitting. I was recovering from a torn shoulder and was struggling to help her. I called Max and he helped me decide on an electric sit/stand recliner. He had it delivered to my house within hours. It was a complete game changer. She slept in it for almost a month. The slight adjustments she could make in reclining alleviated her pain so she could sleep. Max even helped me with the paperwork so I could get reimbursement from my FSA account. BW is run by a guy named Max who is very responsive via phone and email and can help you figure out exactly what you need, explain how the rentals work with insurance etc. (And I mean SUPER responsive, most emails answered in minutes!) However, from what I can tell, he's not always at the shop (in fact, he wasn't at the shop either when I picked it up or dropped it off). The folks at the shop unfortunately aren't as well equipped to help figure things out; you basically need to arrange everything with Max in advance, and if there are issues when you get there, call Max and have him work with the staff on the details. The staff is doing their best to be helpful but it's clear some of them aren't fluent enough in English to conduct a conversation about billing, insurance etc. which is tough even for many native English speakers. They can get you the equipment that you've already arranged for with Max and take it back when you're done though. One of the staff showed me how to collapse and restore the knee scooter and helped me get it to my car, taking my CC info in a rather manual fashion. He was very nice. The equipment worked fine for my purposes, I used it for about a month and then returned it with no issue. The parking situation is a bit confusing, if you're coming from Plyers Mill on Metropolitan, pass the shop and then park in the first parking lot which doesn't have signage indicating that you're in the correct spot. You gotta take it on faith (and Max' assurance) that it's ok to park there. All in all, I'd absolutely use their services again if (and I hope I don't, because breaking your foot sucks!) need them. I went to 4 stars instead of 5 because of the awkwardness of having the in-shop staff not fully able to assist. I think if Max were onsite you'd be sure to have a 5 star experience, it's just a little less streamlined with him being remote.

His belief is simple: we don't work with healthy people, we work with the sick and hurt and older people and we need to accommodate them. Opened 7 days a week and easy to get to. Purchased a transport wheelchair that had to be light enough for my mother to be able to put it in the car. Absolutely got it right!

I rented mine directly from the shop on Edsall Rd., but if you plan ahead, they will deliver the scooter to you and they offer a 24/7 service to help with issues that arise. I did not have any issues, so I cannot directly confirm how that works. My family decided at the last minute that one of our adults would be better off with a mobility scooter because her health issues make any walking tour a strain. The first place I called did not answer and wanted me to leave a message. I didn't have time to wait around for a callback, so I kept trying. I feel so lucky that the second call I made was to JK Medical Supplies! They were so helpful and so nice and knowledgeable. They even gave us ideas about activities in the area that we could do. The scooter they rented to us is a Vive 3-wheel. They made sure that it was the right size for our needs and gave us a demo of how to operate and transport the scooter. The scooter was in excellent condition and it worked well for us. In addition to concrete scootering, we took it on a day hike trail in the Shenandoah Valley. We checked with the visitor center for scooter-friendly hikes. The trails there are smooth enough, but we had to turn around when we got to the uneven rocky area with the obvious horse (ahem) trail. As far as the scooter itself, I would say the 3-wheel is excellent for touring in D.C. and flat, civilized areas, but if you want more adventure with the rocks and the horses, you'll definitely want to ask them for a more rugged 4-wheel with higher clearance and more lateral stability. I spent some time talking to them about their business and they claim that they are often called by a hotel concierge to remedy a delivery issue from less reliable rental companies (I thought about that company that didn't even answer the phone). They sound very dedicated to customer service. I did not need anything above and beyond, like middle-of-the-night service or delivery, but I did see firsthand how customer-friendly they are. It is very hard to find good customer service, but JK Medical shines in that regard. They also claim to personally research each product the sell/rent. They have a lot more than scooters. Our family member had a big smile on her face and laughed at being able to leave the rest of us in the dust, for once. It was a big contrast to what we usually deal with: a grumpy, droopy, sad face. Thank you JK Medical for making our visit to Virginia and D.C. a lot less strenuous and a lot more fun for our family!

After returning the product and receiving my refund, Affirm has me still owing $19. I reached out to BrightLife as to why the full refund wasn't given back? "For return requests, please know that we do not include the shipping fee you paid for your order in our calculation of your refund. Also, our prepaid USPS return shipping labels are $6.95 and since you used our label, your refund amount was deducted with this amount" HUGE SCAM, was never told upfront using their return label provided from them would cost me money. Even if there was fine writing somewhere and I agreed to this, shady slimy business practice that isn't customer service friendly.
