My wife and I had a great experience yesterday when we took our one year old daughter to the trial swim session before deciding if we should pick this place to help train our daughter on how to swim. My wife reached out to them first and exchanged messages through email. Before we showed up, she had to use the app to sign the documents. Even though she did, she kept getting the alert to sign the documents. We found parking just fine and where swimright academy is. Emma who was working the check in desk was amazing and polite with us. Cash was the instructor and he did an amazing job with our daughter even though she was crying. He was very helpful on what class would best serve us and our daughter. We chose the private lesson first to see how it is but we'll be trying the baby and parent session next to decide if that one is better for us. read more

I wish our experience had been better. We went for several months of private lessons. Each lesson was 20 minutes long, and my daughter would be asked to work on the exact same thing, doing a back float. After several months she can't do the back float for as long as they'd like in order to progress her to anything else, but the program is completely linear, so if your kid can't back float independently for a long time, then they won't teach them to do anything else. It is a busy, loud, revolving door of kids coming in and out, and they move right to the next kid when yours gets out of the water, so there's not really time to talk to the teacher about what they will try differently next time. Trying to call the office is no use unfortunately. I've never gotten through. I wouldn't recommend this program for kids who need a tailored approach or who are nervous in the water. Maybe if your kid is already a great swimmer. read more

SwimRight Academy - Great Reviews, But Our Experience Sank This is not a review of instructors, as our trial went awry. This is a review about poor communication and customer service. We were really excited to try SwimRight Academy after reading so many positive reviews about their instructors. The onboarding experience is clunky and not very customer centric because you can't get someone on the phone to answer simple questions. Communication is only done via text, and several of our questions just went unanswered. Then before you can even do a swim trial, you're required to use their app and accept pretty extensive T&Cs (again, without answers to questions). It would be nice if they at least had a chat function for simple support questions, but unfortunately they do not. We were willing to deal because we'd heard good things about the instructors and we wanted this to be a magical first swim experience for our little one. We hyped our child up all morning, drove across town, parked and got through security, and arrived at the pool with time to spare. Here's where things went sideways. We were never told to go to an office before the lesson, only to check-in. We entered the pool to talk to the SwimRight rep seated by the pool with an iPad, and we figured that was check-in. She confirmed our names, told us to wait at the far end of the pool, pointed out our supposed instructor, and told us to wait there until our name is called. We sat there--patiently--for 20 minutes with a squirmy toddler on our lap, excited and ready. We even double-checked with the rep, who assured us again we were in the right spot and even introduced us to the instructor as her next client. Turns out she was new (no blame there--we've all been new at something), but we were pointed in the wrong direction and never properly checked in. After checking with a different rep about when we were going to get called, we were asked to go to the office. Instead of an apology, the first thing the office rep said was, "Why didn't you come to the office first?" Um... because no one told us to? I get that things happen. But what was disappointing wasn't the mix-up. It was the lack of empathy. We weren't looking for freebies or dramatic apologies. Just a little kindness and understanding would've gone a long way. Instead, we left feeling like the bad guys... and with a very confused and heartbroken toddler who never got to dip her toes in the water. On a positive note, the instructors appeared to be doing a nice job and the facility is perfect for early swim lessons. If you can deal with ambiguous communication and onboarding instructions, you may have a nice experience. Final verdict:- Swimming Instruction: N/A - Customer Service: 0/5- App Functionality: Needs a serious upgrade- Toddler's Disappointment Level: Off the charts We were genuinely hoping to build a long-term relationship with SwimRight. SwimRight Academy has been great for our son! We were here for mommy and me classes in 2019, and those were great classes! We then stopped due to the pandemic. We restarted at a different swim school for group swim lessons. Felt like we needed a change, and we were back at SwimRight Academy! Now that we have a comparison, I can truly say we are happy with the switch. I value and respect the instructors who follow the structured plan. There's a book with skills listed for each level, which is so helpful to know for a frustrated parent who just wants their kid to swim already. It's a slow and STEADY approach with repetition. Each level has a safety skill, which I really like. There is a sticker reward system for each achievement. There's a mini podium where they are recognized when they graduate to the next level. The shower area is clean with mostly a good draining system. That's my pet peeve; water needs to drain and no strangling hairs!! Soap is provided as well. The school uses the pool at De Toledo private school, so the facility and parking is great. There's a lot of security with stop points to sign in/out. The pool is heated and chlorinated, but my son does get a bit cold. There's 4 to a group, and they utilize a standing frame. Bleacher seats next to the pool give a great way for viewing. read more

I'd love to recommend this because the class itself is helpful and fun for my child... When it actually happens. Classes are cancelled ALL THE TIME. Like we've probably had at least as many cancelled as we've attended in 3 months. And they don't even give you any notice. Sometimes we get a text that it's cancelled as we pull into the parking lot! Sometimes we don't even get any notice at all and just sit there hoping someone shows up... Which is so sad for a toddler after putting in all the energy to prep them and get them there and get them pumped for it. They give you "2 for 1" makeup tokens when they cancel... Which really means absolutely nothing if you can't trust that the classes will actually happen. We're trying to get our tokens spent and then we will probably go elsewhere because this is just too disorganized and frustrating. Parking is another difficult part of this location. The lot is almost always full and there is not street parking close by. I've called a number of times to speak with someone about these issues, but it always goes to voicemail and I haven't gotten a call back. read more

Too much over turn of the instructors. Good ones stay very short time. So much different ability, enthusiasm depending on the instructors. My daughter's private lesson is only 20min and some of the instructor show up late or finish early. So we always did double 40 min session. The most of the substitute teacher gets are not vested just passing g time, not looking at the students but too busy chatting with other instructors. So me never gets in the water. The office want to cram you in so they always recommend the group lesson which too many kids are swimming in both lanes and there is no way a one instructor pays attention to 6-8kids. One time the instructor finished and walked away and my daughter didn't hear the class was over and she was left in the pool. If you find a good instructor, it's great. read more

My daughter has been taking private lessons at SwimRight Academy for over a year now. I love the school's emphasis on technique and it's structured learning plans that each child follows. My daughters instructor is nice but she makes it clear to my daughter that the class is a lesson and she is there to learn! Anytime her instructor is absent, she is assigned a substitute who can look at her sticker book and know where to pick up on the lesson. I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I wish that there was some down time for the instructors between lessons that would allow them to speak to parents after the lesson and still be on time for the next lesson.
