I recently moved into a new house built in the early 50's with hardwood floors throughout. As we've gotten settled in, we noticed that there was a soft spot under the wood in our hallway along with floor squeaks in every room. After scheduling our appointment, Dale and his partner Hector showed up on time and immediately got to work. Dale is a true craftsman and took a great deal of care meticulously sanding the floors using three/four different grades of sandpaper before applying the sealant, and then sanded, buffed and cleaned between each application of sealant and the finish. My dogs and I stayed in the house while the work was performed (staying away from the floors once the finishing coats were applied), and it was painless. Our bedroom floors from the 1930s were blackened and dull from years of use, and dirt and grime. He sanded and refinished the floors with a satin sheen that made them look like new. He did an incredible job and we could not be happier. He is incredibly meticulous and will do repairs along the way which even satisfied my obsessive compulsive attention to detail. For example, he fixed a squeak or two along the way and added extra coats of finish in high traffic areas which I had not asked him to do. Dale made magic with our busted old rotten Douglas kitchen sub floor. We were on the verge of covering it with click lock bamboo and decided last minute to have dale refinish it and we are beyond thrilled to have made that choice. Dale repaired our 100 year old oak floor in the dining room, which was damaged prior to our moving in. The sub floor was moving, and there was a large crack and gap in the wood. He reattached the sub floor, nailed and glued it, and filled the gap, matching the color so well that you simply cannot notice it at all unless you got down on your knees and looked. Before, the damage was noticeable enough that no one dared step on the crack, which was awkward as it was at the doorway of the kitchen. Thanks for the great work. This truly is as good as it gets. My wife and I purchased a home with hardwood floors that had a lot of issues - hardwood was missing in some places, non-professional finishing was done, parts of inlays were ripped out, etc. We called Dale to come and evaluate, and his breadth of knowledge was immediately apparent. My wife initially met with him and he was very passionate about floors and didn't "man-splain" when speaking with her. Our project was good sized - 6 rooms and a hallway with a stair, and he made a very reasonable bid. There were a number of pet stains in places that I thought would never come out, and they're all gone; the closets had mostly never had hardwood, which he was able to install to match; and the entry...the entry was covered in linoleum and when I removed it, I found a disaster of a floor that was beyond repair (see photo). Dale presented a number of options at various prices to fix the issue, and we decided to have him build an entirely new inlaid floor to match the 80 year old floor next to it. I've attached the photo - you can be the judge - it looks amazing. The only reason you'd know the new entry wasn't original is that it looks a little better than the rest of the floors. Dale has a real attention to detail - planing down doors that hit the floor, adding bull noses on the steps where necessary, etc. I'm an architect, and a wood worker, and I can vouch for the incredible care given to our floors. We found Dale when we were looking for someone to sand and finish our existing oak hardwood floors. Out of the many estimates we received, we selected someone else based on some very highly recommended reviews. Unfortunately, that company did a terrible job, leaving debris in the final finish coat and a very visible puddle-looking area of finish right in front of the fireplace. They also used red-orange putty to fill nail holes which were quite noticeable on the natural color of the wood. We sheepishly called Dale back and explained the situation. Based on what we described and photos we sent him, he patiently explained various possible fixes and gave us a reasonably priced estimate. It took him an entire day to sand off part of the final coat, fix the problems and put another coat on the floor. He was very personable and knowledgeable, answering questions along the way and taking time to explain everything. It took longer than he expected but he didn't charge us more. The final product is beautiful. He used the same product but somehow the floors look smoother and richer. Dale is very detail-oriented and was extremely careful about having a clean floor before laying down the final finish coat. He is obviously knows floors and takes great pride in his work.
