Decided to make this review after giving our new GAIA LVP (luxury vinyl plank) flooring some years of usage. After nearly 3 years our flooring is still in great condition!!! Our installers did an amazing job and the quality is the best we have seen. Even with dogs running around there are no scratches the durability is incredible!! Bought and had this company install carpet in my dining room 10 years ago. Furniture was clear except one cheap shelf from target that I could not remove because I just had hip surgery. I paid extra to have it moved and tipped in cash. Carpet needs to be professionally cleaned and guess what we found... They never moved the shelf. They just cut the carpet around it. Total garbage! Now we have to replace the damn carpet! I will go to a large store versus family business for now on. read more

Tom was very patient helping me pick a carpet that felt elevated and more design-focused, while staying within budget. To achieve this we landed on a lower-cost Anderson Tufex in the bedrooms (Abbey Road in Fairy Wings) and a higher-end Prestige (Sonnet in Royal/Cornflower) in the hall and on the stairs. Made a somewhat panicked call to Felix to replace a portion of a water-damaged carpet. Sent him pictures, and he came (the next day!) with samples to match. But then took a look, thought it had dried out pretty well, and recommended NOT getting new carpet but getting the existing one cleaned instead (which is not something they do). Gotta trust a place that's so honest they talk their potential customers out of a sale! Will definitely be going back for the next carpet installation. read more

What a terrific company. When I was looking to replace my kitchen flooring, I got so many recommendations for Straus and now I know why! I loved the retro kitchen linoleum that came with my house, but I had a water leak that said it was time to replace. I had very specific requirements - something in the same deep red color as the old flooring and that would cove up the walls to match the retro look. I tried a lot of places and no one had the right material or could do the work. Enter Tom Straus with a a lot of great options and ideas. I ended up with marmoleum in the exact color I wanted and that looks terrific in my kitchen. Installation was exceptional. They were on time, did a great job, carefully cleaned up and even were patient with me when I took the installation in the laundry room as a chance to replace all the hoses I never get to. And a year later, I still love my floor. I had a small problem with one spot and when I contacted Straus, they came right out to fix it! 7 years ago I purchased carpet from Straus Carpets and I loved the carpet and was very happy with the overall experience. So, a few months ago when I needed new carpet due to a flood, I ordered carpet again from Straus. Unfortunately, when the installers arrived, there was a problem with the carpet. I want to emphasize that this was a manufacturing issue and not the fault of the store, the delivery or the installers, nor could they have known about the issue before delivery. Tom Straus went to great lengths and considerable expense to resolve the problem for me and to ensure that I was happy, which I am. Straus installed the carpets in our gym about 3 years ago. I knew they were a high quality company but I don't think I knew just how high a caliber they are. We just opened up the back 2/3rds of our office to make space for our members to workout. It left a strip of raw floor about 7" wide and 7' long. I emailed Tom to see if they could patch it. In 2 days they were in and an hour later it was done. It's beautiful, you would never know it was added 3 years after the carpet was installed.
