I am a dive bar type of person, if drinks are reasonably priced,and the restrooms are clean,then I am all inn! Swizzle offered both of my requirements to make me a regular. I've read plenty reviews stating how packed it is... Now, I've visited the Swizzle twice and on Sundays. Both times me and my guest found seats and were able to have conversations with no problem. I do not like crowded places unless I am super turnt-up, so to me a Saturday or Friday would probably not work here, since i feel as if it's a bit too relax for my taste on either night. Both times I have visited they have offered a drink special, last weekend they had $3 mimosa in a pint glass (not in a champage glasss) so you can imagine how fun that was! Just walked out this place after ripped off 100 bill. Walked in at 1 waited 20 to get drink order turned in because some some bartender named John couldn't close out a tab with to a credit card. When I finally gave him my drink order he ended up making my old fashion with soda water???, took my 100 out of my hand and returned with a dollar!!??? I LOVE Swizzle Inn. I went there after a recommendation from a random drunk one Christmas season and have made a point of going back ever since. The decorations are amazing, and I'm fairly certain that they decorate for other holidays as well. I like its high tables and relaxed atmosphere. I've been going infrequently over the past few years, and it's always the same lady behind the bar. The people are incredibly nice, seems like they have some steady regulars. They don't serve food, so they don't mind if you bring in your own. And perhaps one of the nicest things, besides the wonderful decor is how nice the restrooms are; they even have lotion in the ladies' room. I believe they have an award on the wall for best restroom at a dive bar. Love this place. Great for relaxing with friends. read more

I was on vacation to get away from the heat in Florida ( hahahaha ) and staying close by. My friend and I wanted to go out and 'do something ' so I suggested let's type in "Dive Bar" ( on Yelp of course) and The Swizzle Inn came up & piqued my interest.......Close by..... good reviews...... How could we NOT???? It was SOOOO much fun! There was a mix of ages there and I conversed with 3- ( or was it 4 ???? hahaha... locals who live close by.... ) Brian mixes up a nice drink --- strong but not too strong .... Everybody was SUPER friendly, no attitudes or egos. They had one pool table and an Old Skool style jukebox. Next time I visit I'll be BACK and I have a feeling my friend whos a resident of Phoenix will be popping in too! read more

Dive bar. Even as a local it was way to much for a chill Tuesday night. Had rude clientele that just stared at us for a good 10 minutes and to add on one more thing 1 guy decided to lean on my friend even with plenty of space elsewhere. Now if you are looking for a cozy not really that divey dive with great prices and drink specials you can find it here. The staff is friendly and the beer is cold. You have to try the "paperbag shot". It is a secret blend in a bottle poured up for $1. They have several TVs so it is great for catching the games. I always love how they have it decorated over the Christmas holiday period. Lights, tinsel garland and glass Christmas ball ornaments strung against the ceiling in a grid pattern. I don't know what it is about it but it is so mesmerizing. But I have always been known for being easily entertained. [Hey only the boring ever get bored in my book.] They have also received an award in the past for the best women's restroom at a bar in PHX. It is pretty swanky for a woman's restroom in a divey bar. The place is low key for the most part, until later in the evenings (usually Friday and Saturdays after 10p) when the area hipster wanna-bes come out and swarm the place. Chicks stinkin' up the place with the latest Pop Star's Perfume, nervously playing with their infinity scarfs as they chat with the dudes in beanies. That is usually when I know it is time to leave. If that you your scene you will love it. But if you like the cool dive scene get there earlier, drink enough and the late night scene is more tolerable. But that is just me. ;) read more

I am not a fan of Swizzle. Every time I have gone, the bar has been absolutely packed. Which is great for the bar and could be fun for people watching but its so loud and theres so few places to sit (unless you get lucky and manage to scalp a seat). There is a pool table but good luck playing a game without hitting someone. Drinks are average price if you can manage to get the bartender to serve you. Ive waited upwards of half an hour while standing at the bar, cash in hand, without even getting glanced at. Ive been skipped over so many times that random other groups of people have bought my drinks for me! And the second thing I dislike most about Swizzle is the lack of smoking patio. As a smoker I always judge bars harshly when they don't have an enclosed patio for me to bring my drink and enjoy a cigarette. So in all I would suggest Swizzle to people who love big groups and not hearing what their friends are saying, dont feel like drinking, and enjoy being crammed into a stuffy sardine can. read more

When asked about your capability of making an Old Fashion drink, you bragged about it but failed to serve. As a former bartender/server/manager, all you had to do was say "hey, I don't do this, this & this...." But you handled it like a fucking newbie. We decided to try this place out because a lot of others said they had fun there. This was before the lock down and social distancing occurred. We stopped in on a Friday night and the place was moderately busy but no where near capacity. During the process of ordering drinks we were also dished out a long wait time and plenty of rudeness and attitude by the bartender. To make things worse the creepy bar flies continually stared at us. We got out of there ASAP. We all also agreed there was a low key racist feeling from that place just waiting to explode. Excellent dive bar. Bring your friends, your date, or go sit at the end of the bar and get your drank on. Friendly fast paced service and as others have noted you will receive a generous pour. They had a limited but interesting beer selection with a couple of good IPAs.There was some sort of food set up in the parking lot on Sat night which, hopefully, was a welcomed sight based on the number of shots being served. Never stepping foot inside this place again. Went there last night and had the owner kick out two friends of mine after being there less than five minutes. The bar is crammed as it is and owner yells for everyone to "move" (by move I mean she was extremely rude with what she said). We all move out of her way and she says "I'm not that skinny". She then squeezes through group I was with and when she's about through she whips around and sticks her face inches away from my friends face and yells at her "what the fuck did you say to me?!". My group literally said nothing as we were more concerned with getting drinks for 7 of us. She pushes herself into my friend as if to instigate a fight and we stepped in to separate her. She then turns to the bartenders and starts motioning across her own neck as if to say "cut them off", she then proceeds to tell us we all needed to go. So we demand our money back because we had just paid for our drinks and the owner comes back and yells at us to again leave. As nice as we could we left and managed to have a better experience at The Vig. That was the rudest owner I've encountered. No way will I support this woman's livelihood to feel the need to get intoxicated, and think it's ok to berate customers who did nothing but attempt to make room for her to squeeze through her crammed bar. Never will I step foot again in this place. I will be praying that someone comes in and buys this place from underneath this lady so they can restore a friendly and customer oriented atmosphere to this place. read more

The drinks are served up quickly, even though the bar is small and usually crowded. No food, but they have chips to hold you over! I'm a huge fan of the decor. They have Christmas lights up all year round and they decorate for every holiday. The Halloween decorations were hilarious and on-point. I loved it! I'm giving up a gem here folks. But I dig this place so much, I had to share. If you're a fan of the "dive bar", you've found a great one! Located on the SE corner of 16th Street and Bethany Home in the old strip mall behind Starbucks (that used to be El Pollo Asado, for you old timers), Swizzle is a find! After a few drinks, I bought a t-shirt from here that touts, "Swizzle Inn...Swagger Out". Gotta love it. Your standard dive bar with a pool table, darts and a pot luck on Friday nights for happy hour. The drinks are strong and cheap. Shannon's a great bar tender! No food at the Swizzle, but that's ok, they'll let you bring it in. On a few occasions, we've had pizza delivered or brought in take out from other places. Ladies, you'll be impressed with the restroom. It's clean and always has toilet paper, as well as a fully stocked vanity with mouthwash, hair spray, lotion, tampons, etc. Not what you expect in the typical dive. After years of driving by this place and being curious about it my husband and a couple of friends checked it out this past Saturday and downed a few pitchers. Upon entering we were greeted by the friendly bartendar and I could tell this is the type of bar I would feel very comfortable hanging at. They have a full bar, but kind of limited on the beers on tap. I believe they only have Bud and Fat Tire. They do have various bottled beers and hard liquor. Everyone in the bar seemed real friendly, only one douche bag was seen and thankfully he left within an hour (oh, I kid, I kid). This place has the nicest bathroom of any bar. I was pleasantly surprised how clean and nice the bathroom was. This is one public restroom I'm not afraid to use. The jukebox isn't too bad. There is something for everyone, especially that person that requested a boat load of Donna Summer and B-52's songs the night I was there. I will definitley be back for the friendly service, good booze, clean bathroom and laid back atmosphere. read more

I used to LIVE at The Swizzle Inn and sadly only make it back occasionally. This really is a great bar and was the first cool place I found when I moved to Phoenix. It is an unpretentious dive bar that attracts a diverse but generally friendly, fun-loving crowd. The bartenders are great, especially Darlene and Courtney-they will always take care of you. The prices are fantastic and they always have drink specials. If your goal is to get loaded, you can probably achieve your goal here for under $30. BEWARE of the Mystery Shot unless you don't have to work in the morning. The have probably one of the best juke boxes in town, and there is pool and darts. The hubs and I used to live with in crawling distance of the Swizz, loved how close we were. Now we live about a $15 cab ride away :( We hit up the Swizz this past Saturday, it had been a while since I had been there. And boy did I miss it. The crowd is always a nice random mix of people. The bartender is always on the ball and the wait for a drink isn't long at all. I do wish their tap selection was a bit better/broader...but whatev. This place has an indoor atrium of an ocean scene so it can do whatever the hell it wants! The jukebox has rad tunes! The pool table is always hoppen. Only go here if you like good times. read more

As much as I wanted to love the Swizzle Inn my first experience was uninspired. The regulars bellied up at the bar were all varying degrees of creepy, I never felt very welcome, and the joint wasn't nearly as raucous as I'd hoped it would be. I was told the juke box was great but all I heard during my 45 minutes was Barry Manilow and Grand Funk Railroad. It wasn't all bad. The prices are extremely wallet friendly and I dug the bartender a lot, so I'll definitely go back and give the Swizz another chance. Hopefully my update will be much more favorable. read more

And whether they are pretty or ugly, I have deducted that all can be fun to talk to and you never know who has the most interesting, prophetic, astute and poignant things to say until you actually talk to them. Anyway, once or twice I have gone into The Swizzle to escape some sort of mental torment or self-imposed drama that has invaded my personal space (sometimes you gotta get out of your head, man!), and love that by the time I leave there I have spoken with someone who has taken my mind off of whatever has ailed me. I love 'the Swiz'. I ended up here on a Saturday night after a concert and we had a great time. It is a rare feat to find a dive bar with generally pretty good looking people in it! Also, I only verbally ordered a round of drinks once and the bartender remembered it for the rest of the night...just had to walk up to the the bar and presto, the drinks magically appeared on the counter! I noticed the other reviews of old people frequenting the bar... Kind of strange because I don't think there was anyone over 40 at the bar when I was there. When we walked in there was a rambunctious group of OLD LADIES talking about the importance of a good support bra while taking pictures of their chests! I couldn't agree more!!
