Beware not all races are welcomed here. I walked in to have lunch with my dad and was not serviced. We stood there waiting to be greeted and seated and people kept walking by us. Not acknowledging us my dad walks up to the bar. The lady yells just sit. Just sit wherever. So we sit down. The next person walks in and they do not look like us. They are immediately greeted and asked how they are doing today. At that moment, I realized we were not welcomed and we walked out. This is a bar with limited lighting and loud music. This is a 5 star experience IF you go in with the right expectations and understanding of the establishment. This is a DIVE BAR with local regulars and a vibe that is protected by them. The regulars are Phoenicians who have been coming here for years, and in my opinion, it's one of the few remaining places that hasn't been overrun/changed by the massive population influx in Phoenix. Therefore, the regular patrons have a deep respect and love for this establishment and its people. In other words, don't F with the vibe. Enjoy yourself, but seriously be mindful of the environment. I say this because the staff will swiftly let you know with a verbal reprimand or even just by kicking you out. For example, they don't do takeout. Do not ask. And when they tell you no, do not ask again. That being said, do not expect white glove, highly attentive service. The service is good enough, and that's all that matters. It's a busy establishment and yes you will wait a bit for your food. AGAIN, when you understand the expectations, this can be a fun and highly enjoyable experience, but you have to understand where you are and what it is. Regarding the food, incredible. I stick with the wine burger and the wings with the secret sauce. Absolutely amazing food and the prices are stupid cheap. I'm completely serious when I say this is easily one of the best burgers in Phoenix. The burger is done right, and I really appreciate it. The wine burger kind of melts in your mouth and the portions are huge. Be nice, be observant, tip heavy, temper your service/timing expectations, and you'll enjoy a true local Phoenix spot. My go to for burgers used to be The Stand which is carry out only. Opposite of Havey's Wineburger which is dine in only. Walked in at 1:15pm on a Tuesday. Packed to the gills. Even though I am visiting from Detroit I am not a day drinker. So a large water for me. I was pondering a double patty. Glad I didn't 'go there. The single cheeseburger was huge and I added fries. I love this place. Been coming back for years. If you're familiar with Coach House or JT's, it's got that same vibe -- maybe even a little more divey. And the bathroom might actually challenge Coach for the crown... if you know, you know. It's dark, a little gritty in the best way, and the burgers are amazingly good. The Thousand Island burger is my go-to, but even the regular cheeseburger hits. Shoutout to Shane. Fries are f'n great too. The servers are awesome and super nice, but fair warning: the main bar is usually full. If you're with someone, you might have to wait a minute for seats. Also the bar is usually packed, so just remember you're not the only person on earth trying to order a drink. Great draft beer lineup and legit liquor selection. It was busy on the Sunday evening when we came in about 5:30 PM. Don't really expect to be welcomed in here as the staff is super busy, so much so that they don't seem to acknowledge people coming through the door.Seat yourself! We waited just a few minutes & were able to find an open area at the bar. Menus provided at the counter, so we browsed the beer selections & went with a Dos Equis & a Wow Beer. We wanted to start with their wings & requested them mixed with their hot & garlic parm which is a popular choice here. They came out piping hot (temperature wise) and they were huge in size! They're good, but could have been just a little more crispy IMO. There's so many great burgers offered on the menu and it was really hard to decide. In speaking with the bartender we went with his two favorites which were the Island and the Garlic Patty Melt. BOTH were excellent. The patty, while being cooked has a splash of red wine added. Hence the name- Winebuger. These burgers are worth the hype and the price. We weren't able to eat them all. There are thick!! The fries were on another level. I'd go as far as to say that they were probably the best I've had in Arizona thus far. It currently beats my last claim elsewhere in another review. I don't know what these fries are cooked in, probably don't want to know either, but they're delicious & memorable! NOTE- It is a very small kitchen with assuming one cook?! You have to be patient with the process. The tickets get backed up, so the staff allows for timeframes so the kitchen can get caught up before placing additional orders. But, do not worry they will keep the drinks flowing! Entertainment consists of: Pool, Jukebox, Darts and believe they have a DJ on certain days and times also. We really enjoyed this drive bar. It's been around since the early 50's and it's got the old bones, decor and chill vibe to prove it. *Suggest if you're able- to get a seat at the bar. You'll have better, more attentive service. Go during off peak hours and park in the back.* Definitely will be returning customers amongst their regulars and look forward to trying the other hamburgers and getting more of those killer fries! read more

Seating choices are at the bar, or a high top table. Came at lunchtime and the place was pretty full. Hubs had the Garlic Patty Melt and added green chiles. I had the mushroom burger (beef with grilled onions & mushrooms). Burgers come with fries, upgraded one order to onion rings. Beef patties are 7 oz and hand-pressed on a flat griddle. Harvey's wins at price point perfection. You are not going to pay $13.50 for a Tito's and Tonic or $9.50 for a pint of Church Music IPA . Their bar is stocked well with what you need, and not what you saw once on someone's instagram story. So, if you are looking for a Himalayan Wood Smoked Infused Pineapple Seed Mezcal Martini, you are not going to find it here. Remember, this place is going to bring you back to the basics. Hamburgers, BLTs, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and Wings are outstanding! Inside: Dark, vampire friendly, no sunlight enters or exits until the front door opens. Waitresses and Bartenders: so friendly and accommodating-they are busy, and are usually in Busy Bee Mode. They do have stingers so if you are friendly and kind, so are they. Maybe Wineburgers just aren't my thing. It came out as a literal brick of meat so I'm glad I didn't order my usual well done or I'd still be working on it. But unfortunately with the size of the patty and being cooked medium it was cold and really pink inside and ruined my appetite. It seems like the patty is only seasoned with the wine so it doesn't really taste like much. I'm just still surprised so many people rave over these burgers when it don't taste like much besides the burger toppings. Busy crowd with light staff made for the typical slower service but the bartenders/waitresses were kind and helpful as they were running to tend to everyone.
