Love the place. Great food, drink, service and the owner is around. I stop once twice a year when on the island.

Fun divey bar nestled right into the corner of 16th St and Bethany (behind the Starbucks). It's small and cozy and full of Christmas lights and ornaments hanging from the ceiling year round. It creates such a fun festive environment- I think it actually subconsciously urges me to drink more! It feels like the holidays all the time in there! The bartenders here are good- they're fast and great at handling the crowds and getting drinks out efficiently. This place is totally LGTBQ friendly and an overall fun place to get drinks. There are pool tables, darts, and a few arcade games. Swizzle is one of the great dive bars in the area. No pics- go see for yourself! read more

Read the reviews, was intrigued. Came in and ordered drinks --cheap and easy. Sat down, was immediately asked to move so a guy could shoot pool better- happy to oblige no worries. Ambience was everything I would want in a dive bar, and we had thought we found a new home. We got our second round and then a stampede of white women (and a few men?) wearing very offensive sombreros came in. Women around us expressed that they were very uncomfortable with their cultural appropriation and decided to say something. Bartender decided that the Mexican women were the ones being offensive and kicked them out. White women thought it was good to sing god bless America as they left. Bartender also thought it was fine because "they weren't in full garb" EW. If this was a concern about fighting then everyone should have been kicked out of the bar-- but it was very clear that the sombrero wearing ladies were given a free pass to be bigoted; calling the ladies "dogs" as they left. Gross, bigoted, unsafe environment for anyone that isn't a "peace keeping" straight white person. Also unrelated and equally insane- we immediately left and chilled in the parking lot and were approached by man who wanted my boyfriend to fight someone. All around, cute dive bar that we wish we could give money to, but unfortunately this is not a safe space for people of color. read more

Super fun dive bar! Beautiful blend of people, young and older. Everyone there seemed relaxed and there to have a good time. Great bar, awesome selections of alcohol! You can play darts and pick some of your favorite music off the Jukebox. One pool table so be patient if you wanna play pool. This is the most hyped dive bar in all of uptown. Probably because uptown is relatively boujee and has no space for seemingly working class establishments, so it's one of the only "dives" in uptown. But I can dig it. Even if it's a bit of a mess. You can expect a raucous, amorphous crowd you'll fight through to get to the bar on a Saturday night. And while crowding is usually OK, this here is the result of there literally being no other space for a large portion of the customers. People are literally just standing in the middle of the walkway socializing, and it's annoying. You can expect average drinks and average drink prices (i.e. low for this zip code), with bartenders really just doing their best to keep up. What you can't expect: Seating. A patio. A chance to comfortably use the lone pool table, which should probably just be replaced with more seating. It doesn't suck, it's just plain and boring to me. I hope you have fun. read more

This place is a funny, little spot that is close to where I live and has GREAT drink specials! The day we went, they had $4 pints of dos xx and $4 Tito's on special and I'm a fan of BOTH of those. It was busy and everyone seemed to know each other. The bartender was really nice and it's hysterical that they do $2 mystery shots! I didn't have any food but the drinks were strong and cheap. It's a small neighborhood bar tucked away from traffic and you may not see it if you didn't know it was there.... Came here for the fourth time and got denied service. I brought my friend who's visiting from home, and we both have Indiana licenses. The bartender told us our IDs were fake, and was an absolute bitch about it. She treated us like trash and couldn't have been more rude about it. We're both turning 23 this year btw. She looked confused at the ID, probably because she had never seen an Indiana one before, but that is her job to be educated. She had dark brown hair and didn't smile once. Definitely need to get some nicer bartenders that know how to tell fake from real ID's. read more

Saw this bar on maps after searching bars to go to for a bar hopping day and was immediately attracted by the Christmas decorations. Decided to give it a go and ended up going around 8pm. It's a really small bar a ducked off in the corner so you can miss it if you're not looking hard enough. Once entering the bar the vibes were total dive bar vibes and I enjoy a good dive bar. Even though it was packed there was still room to sit and order from the bar so that wasn't an issue. Ended up playing darts and listening to some old school jams while there. I like the vintage juke box they have. Bartenders were nice and so were the people there. Overall good time. It wasn't as WOW as I thought it be seeing the pictures posted but still a good place to go to get good cheap drinks! read more

Im not mad at the decor, but it could use some adjustments.The drinks are cheap, and if you're into country/rick music, a millenial / gen x'er, and a tad dead inside, this dive bar is for you! Everybody was just staring at me and my friends- but not in a good way. So what if we actually have youthful life to us? Never seen it before? Take a picture, it'll last longer. Anyway- its a vibe if you want cheap drinks.But not a vibe if youre looking to vibeee. I feel like its the bar from the spongebob movie, where you cant blow bubbles, like that type of hostility. They watch Dirt bike races on the T.V. The music periodically turns on and off which is definitely a choice... and then when it turns back on, everyone starts talking over themselves trying to hear eachother. Rude owner...Woman was sitting at the bar drinking the entire time we were there with a small group. She oddly walked over and began bussing our table, and took my husband's drink glass before he was finished. When we tried to ask what she was doing and complain to the bartender, the same woman (who also seemed drunk) walked back to her drink AT THE BAR and began yelling that she was "the f***ing owner & she could do whatever the f***" she wanted!" The poor bartender stood there & couldn't say a thing, which made us realize it was likely the owner. Disgusting behavior by this woman especially if she actually is the owner and undoubtedly she's caused lost tips to those bartenders. We paid our tab & left, and yes we tipped the bartender as it wasn't her fault or anything she could control. Will not be back that's for sure. read more

We LOVEEEE swizzle , one of the best dive bars in the area. Great bartenders, wonderful atmosphere! Unfortunately, today we had a not so good experience with new bartender Sam, she was not approachable at all and seemed to be inconvenienced by us which is unlike any service we've ever had here. Only real downside is parking, but great dive bar in uptown Phoenix! Healthy pours for well drinks, reasonable prices, attentive bartender, and interesting crowd perfect for people watching. How have I never heard of this place before! No, but seriously, I am a fan of dive bars. Good ones, and this place makes the list. I even typed in 'dive bars' in Yelp and this place came up. Of course it did, cause if you are driving down the road, you will totally pass by this place. But trust me, you NEED to stop in. The drinks were reasonably priced (heavily poured), the bartenders top notch, and the lights on the ceiling make the place seem like it's Christmas all the time. This place is perfection. You could bring your grandparents, parents and your just of age cousin here and they would all have a blast. The drinks are cheap as hell and plentiful. If you want to, you can get feeling pretty good for about 15 dollars. Atmosphere: so divey but wonderful. You walk in and it's small, but not cramped like some other dive bars. There are no windows and when you walk in it feels like you're reentering the 90s. They have darts and pool, and lots of seating, but it's all indoors. They have pretty nice restrooms too. The whole place was decorated for Christmas and they had so many small details everywhere, it must've taken them hours to do it all. The coolest thing is the hike box that lets you pick 4 songs for a dollar and they have a huge variety. The crowd is literally everyone, there's young and old and in between, and I feel so comfortable in whatever outfit. It kind of smells like popcorn, because you can order some with your drinks I think. We saw lots of people with bowls. I had so much fun here, it's the perfect place to belt out call me maybe or some obscure 70s rock song. Someone came around after a while and gave us a ton of free swag! I don't know if that's the norm, but it was super cool, we got a small cooler bag with an opener attached, a vanilla lip balm and a set of coasters! The only cons I can think of are: the parking lot is terrible. But the zips plaza one across the street is an option too. Also they don't have a drink menu posted anywhere and I might've wanted to try a cocktail but I didn't know what they had. I will definitely be coming back here every damn day. The owner, Beth, came to our table after a friend of ours smoked their vape at the table (which is usually pretty normal at low-quality dive bars with poor service and geriatric customers). The owner condescendingly stated "you must be new here" and said, "we don't vape in here." We were extremely receptive of the owners request. She then touched our friends leg in a slightly threateningly manner and said, "thank you for being so cool about it!" There are plenty of better bars in the area. I've also heard that the owner is a bit racist and very hateful. I'd avoid if you can. read more

Had the WORST experience with the OLD bartender on a Tuesday. He literally had no sense of humor, was rude to "us" coming from a company lunch. Looked and acted like we were outcasts. Just walked out this place after ripped off 100 bill. Walked in at 1 waited 20 to get drink order turned in because some some bartender named John couldn't close out a tab with to a credit card. When I finally gave him my drink order he ended up making my old fashion with soda water???, took my 100 out of my hand and returned with a dollar!!??? I am a dive bar type of person, if drinks are reasonably priced,and the restrooms are clean,then I am all inn! Swizzle offered both of my requirements to make me a regular. I've read plenty reviews stating how packed it is... Now, I've visited the Swizzle twice and on Sundays. Both times me and my guest found seats and were able to have conversations with no problem. I do not like crowded places unless I am super turnt-up, so to me a Saturday or Friday would probably not work here, since i feel as if it's a bit too relax for my taste on either night. Both times I have visited they have offered a drink special, last weekend they had $3 mimosa in a pint glass (not in a champage glasss) so you can imagine how fun that was! NOW, the LADIES restrooms are up to par with the place itself! So clean and with character. Big mirrors and bright lights perfect for a selfie! read more
