The $15 shrimp roti is a generous portion and definitely enough for two or more servings. I've concluded, though, I'm just not a fan of roti, something about the texture. I enjoyed the Guyanese beef patty's soft buttery crust and hearty filling. I would buy that again. The $3 desserts were reasonably priced. The powdered sugar coated fried dough had a hint of spice--maybe nutmeg? They were tasty the next morning dipped in my coffee. I've only tasted a small slice of the other cassava-based treat. It's like a sweet, dense bread pudding. The vibe was laid back, with all in family pitching in to run the business. The staff here was so incredibly nice and helpful as I was deciding which item to get from the lunch menu. There was plenty of seating areas for me to wait for my food and it was so hot. A variety of cuisines at this spot. Caribbean, Indian, Guyanese... They are located in a large strip plaza with ample parking. It's a cozy spot with a couple of tables. The decor is dated but it was clean and well stocked throughout with prepared foods and market items. Service was polite and helpful. Both visits we took our order to-go. What we had: jerk chicken, veggie fried rice, bbq baked chicken, shrimp fried rice, salt fish fritter and Guyanese beef patty. Sybil's hands down has the best Pone in town and I stand on that. Today I went to buy and it was given something not up to their normal standards. When I addressed this to the staff, they acknowledged my experience and quickly went for another batch that was 10/10!! Every now and again things happen, such is life. have heard good things about this place for years from a friend so finally decided to check it out when i was in the plaza. when I walked in all the food looked extremely fresh and the place smelled great. Got a large saltfish with steamed cabbage. initially I was surprised at the price after purchasing but when i tasted the food.. it tasted great so it didn't bother me as much . One of the best salt fish ive ever had.. not too salty, well seasoned, not too oily or watery either.. and great flavor.... they also gave a decent amount.... People are nice and the food is consistent . I've been going for years and they are never off! I have my go to's, like curry chicken and paratha roti but sometimes I'll try something new and it's allll good. There's something here for everybody because they have all the meat dishes you would expect from a Caribbean restaurant plus more because they have a lot of veggie dishes as well. I'm contemplating whether my stomach can handle two more because they were that good! In terms of size, they're exactly like the mini fruit pies you can buy from Walmart. Whenever I visit a new city or town I always try to find West Indian/Caribbean restaurants to try because it's my all time favorite food. I ordered a ton of goodies the salara and chicken foot were my favorite 10/10 and my mom liked the chinese cake 8/10, the pine tart was ok. They have everything you would find back home in terms of pastries and I loved seeing that because some of the items I haven't seen or ate in forever. My favorite menu item from the hot bar, was the boil and fried channa it was so good 10/10, the white pudding was a 5/10, overall everything else was a 7/10. I ordered ahead of time and still had to wait a bit when I arrived, realizing I could've just ordered everything when I got there because the food was already out on the food bar, minus the white pudding they were preparing in the back, don't expect them to cut up the white pudding. I wanted to be fair in this review so I went a few different times. Every time you go to Sybil's the shorter Guyanese lady behind the counter greets you like why are you here? Face frowned up and very COLD like she hates her job and customers. This establishment acts like the customer should be glad they are in business. Your cheese roll is all salt and dough, cookup rice is missing pepper and taste, roti is usually good but hit and miss depending on who is making it. Curry is all salt and the best thing you guys make is Guyanese beef patties. News flash there are other options in the area and customers can walk with their feet consider your staff actions as everyone watches you. When you see your sales down you will realize why in time.
