My friend Marlene from Rancho Cucamonga in the Inland Empire in California recommended this old school, been around for a 150 years steakhouse with excellent martinis plus a wonderful wine list institution. It is in an old house right on the north side of Foothill Blvd or historic Rt 66 actually. Open only for dinner we got there at 7 pm and were seated in the dining area by the bar. It was dark and I just loved the beautiful and colorful lamps. Felt the old school vibe in the air. Atmosphere - 5 stars - nice and mellow. The room - really cool. The bar was happening and popping. Really fun group. We were in the dark and docile section and had to get the flashlights on our phones to check out the menu. The food - 5 stars- great Calamari. Awesome salmon ( charbroiled with really delicious sides- mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus). The other appetizer was the guac mash which was also really nice. Came with warm bread. Table next to us got really awesome looking steaks. Lobster looked yummy as well. The drinks - Marlene had a couple of Pineapple cosmos and she said they were strrrrrronggggg. The service - 5 stars plus - our waitress Eva was really great. Very attentive and talked to us for a bit not rushing us out at 9 pm. Bartender( lady) and Manager also were really cool. Dress code - I was in slacks and a collared shirt but the two gents by us were in gym attire. So casual on a Monday was ok. Parking - loads in a very big lot. It came to $80 per person plus tip so expect pricing and a tab in that range with drinks $16-18, appetizers also in that range and entrees $35-47. It was an interesting experience. read more

So disappointed with this place lately! Rush to get there for supposedly first come, first serve bar service-- NOPE Regulars call their bartenders & reserve seats. "Can't sit anywhere without a linen"! Very unfair! & The manager agreed but still did nothing about it! So this review is solely based on service and I honestly want to leave 0 but the gentleman that serviced our waitress was great. I wished I got their names but this was on Mother's Day, 2026 and we had a reservation for 10 at 4:30. Our reservation initially was for the veranda, but the restaurant called and moved us into the Cucamonga room. Because our reservation was for veranda, the majority of our guests were looking prior to our reservation on the menu for what to order. Prior to being seated, we were waiting outside for the establishment to open and you can clearly see they were not ready to have any type of Mother's Day celebration of tables outside under their canopy, as the tables were not even set up. I'm guessing this was the reason why we were moved to the Cucamonga room. Normally we would have been fine with this move but the waitress, blonde hair, pony tail, I wish I would've got her name, was extremely rude when we had told her, that some of us would like to order off the other menu, after she only gave us the menu for inside (most expensive). She looked at us and sort of shook her head and said, I cannot do that. I will have to ask my manager because that menu is for outside. I kindly said, we were supposed to sit outside and the restaurant moved us. She came back and told us only two people out of 10 were allowed to order off of the outside menu. I personally got upset at this because this is completely wrong as the restaurant was the one that moved us, clearly because they were not ready for Mother's Day outside and then they want to handcuff us to the inside menu only My sisters did not want me to make a big deal of this because it was Mother's Day, so I am doing this now, while I have the time and would hope that this establishment changes that policy. The reason why we picked this place was because my mom and dad would frequent the sycamore inn back in the 60's and was hoping to bring something familiar back to our Mom. You simply just don't get treated the same anymore. The food was decent, probably could have been better had we had a kinder waitress or a manager that would have allowed anyone of us to order off whatever menu we want after being moved to the inside by the restaurant. Just left us feeling like it was a $$$ grab x10. Anyway, our reservation was for 10 on May 10, 2026 at 4:30 in the Cucamonga room, if this helps the restaurant understand who our servers were. I read great reviews about this restaurant and made reservations to dine and experience this old school steakhouse first hand. I loved the cozy and warm feeling of the wood-framed house, complete with a "porch" as you enter and a fireplace indoors. Once inside the hostess checked us in, within a few minutes, our table was ready. Our Server for the evening was Andrea, she provided excellent customer service and checked on us throughout the evening. Menu highlights: We ordered the Seabass, Ribeye Steak and Creamed Spinach to share. We had a puffed pastry with vanilla ice cream for dessert. The Seabass melts in your mouth, it was so tender and moist. The steak was medium rare. I throughly enjoyed the added blue cheese crust. Sharing a dessert was the perfect finishing touch to a delicious meal that had it all from salad, bread, surf and turf to a sweet ending. Appetizers are creative and great, grilled artichoke is killer and they are the only restaurant in the area that does oysters Rockefeller, we always get them. We recently enjoyed a banquet at Sycamore Inn with our club. We had about 75 attendees and used their downstairs banquet room. From the outside this restaurant is very inviting with its huge trees surrounding what seems to be a historic home. The inside can definitely use a rehab as carpet was old and frayed, walls dingy and with outdated decor. We ordered their filet mignon which was overcooked. It had a demiglaze which was good but there wasn't enough and I wished I had asked for more. It came with a side of mashed potatoes which was amazing as well perfectly cooked garlic string beans. They provide complementary sour dough bread which was warm and so delicious! Their dinner salad was a disappointment as it was limp, didnt seem fresh and was literally just lettuce and dressing. What they lacked in ambience they definitely made up for with their service. Staff were friendly and very accommodating and probably one of the best features of this restaurant. Would I return? My husband and I came here for one of our last date nights before our baby comes. We've been wanting to try this place because of the history and we love a steakhouse! For appetizers we did the jumbo artichoke and stuffed mushrooms, it was very filling. They also give you bread as you wish, also yummy! We both really really liked our cut of steak. We came here last year for my daughter's birthday and she enjoyed the Chilean sea bass, so we came back again this year. ...last year, I felt like it was really crowded and we came on a Saturday evening around 6pm and we sat outside and our table was slanted. It was very hectic and overall the experience was not very good, but my daughter said the Chilean Sea Bass knocked her socks off so we came back again this year. Okay so this year 2025 June 8 on a Sunday at 7pm. wayyyyy better experience- we sat inside we had these big fluffy cushy chairs that made me feel important. The linens on the tables, every staff member we dealt with was superb. My daughter's petite filet mignon was delicious. My chicken was delicious. My husband's prime rib was delicious. The bread was soft and fluffy. (We didn't even get bread last time). I don't think we had so much attention. There was lots of parking. We did come at 7 PM so I don't know if that also played a part. The menu is packed with a huge selection from seafood to steaks to pastas drinks, appetizers, desserts They've got a little bit of everything this place looks like it's been here for a really long time Old vintage feel and look upscale on the inside. For those of us who enjoy a good bourbon with a steak, options like Eagle Rare 10 Year, E.H. Taylor, or even Blanton's would be a great addition. So disappointed in Sycamore Inn. They haven't been answering their phones. It's become very difficult to make a reservation, which they request. (It used to be "first come, first served" in the bar area, but since the pandemic they have made you have reservations in the bar area, which is the only area of the restaurant that we like.) I made a reservation through OpenTable on their website 5 days ago requesting a booth in bar area. They had confirmed my reservation by text and email. Then they call me an hour and 15 minutes before the reservation (when I'm already on my way to pick up my parents to take them to the restaurant) saying they can't seat us anywhere in the bar area. They confirm twice, then can't honor it an hour before dinner?! Are they trying to force people into the rooms they want? Are they just poorly managed that they don't check their reservation confirmations until the day of, when they were made 5 days ago and autoconfimed? Are they so busy that they don't care about how they treat customers? I don't know what you have to do to get a seat in the bar area. Despite their servers always being fantastic, their management and hosts have been subpar. This is around the 4th time we've had issues with the hosts, reservations, and seating. After being turned away from the Magic Lamp for not dressing up for Prom, my group of 5 hard-working, hungry adults and our 3 babies quickly pivoted across the street to the historic Sycamore Inn. It was an ideallyic summer evening... We were seated on the wide, welcoming patio and promptly handed our menus. The sun setting beautifully behind us with a cool breeze blowing in from the west. Unfortunately, shortly after the promptness disappeared and we experienced wide fluctuations in attention and timeliness. It was several moments before our drink and appetizer order was taken. Then, several more before our appetizers arrived and several more before our drinks arrived. And no bread was offered during any of this. I hate sounding like a whining, petulant child, but let me remind you this restaurant advertises itself as a Prime Steakhouse. You know, the way Fleming's, Ruth's Chris and Mastro's do. Unfortunately, tonight it felt more like Norm's. Too bad my wallet wasn't treated that way, somehow I was still billed at Prime Steakhouse prices. Go figure. read more

We used to like Sycamore Inn and would always go here for special occasions for many years. However, our last couple of times eating here made us not want to go back unfortunately. The first time was when we made reservations for Thanksgiving to give my wife a break because she would be coming straight home from her shift on Thanksgiving evening. We get seated promptly and, when we were about to order, our server informed us that they ran out of prime rib. We were all (5 people) dissapointed because we all wanted prime rib. However, since it was kind of too late to go to another restaurant, we decided to stay and try out the alternatives. Some of us chose turkey and some fish. Unfortunately both were subpar. They were dry and bland. We ended up taking it all home in a doggy bag just to be thrown away the next day. After a few months, we gave them another chance and, this time, we got the prime rib. However, for some reason, maybe the supplier was different or the main chef wasn't there, it was just OK. We will probably not be returning here again and have found a couple of restaurants that serve better prime rib. read more

Love going to the Sycamore Inn for happy hour! The food is delicious! I specifically go back for their fried avocado and their guacamole with their pita chips. It's also gorgeous sitting on the veranda when the weather is nice. The service is okay, that's the one thing we usually run into here. The restaurant is super cute but we chose to sit on the patio where the heaters were on and we could have a nice conversation since the bar was packed. I am usually freezing and Garett was nice enough to turn the heater up to make sure we were comfortable without us even asking! Let's talk food which is why you're here. Like Blue Cheese?! What a good steakhouse. My prime rib was perfectly medium rare and a huge portion. One of the things I love about a good prime rib is that each bite just melts like whip cream in your mouth. The potatoes au gratin was a delight too. I mean--for me that's the standard side with any huge beef meal. I just find it pairs perfectly. I also had a bite or three of the lobster tail on offer and that will definitely by an option for the next visit. I love the service. Raul our service pretty much kicked ass on every request, anticipating every question and concern. He even had time to tell stories and share pictures like a long-lost uncle. My wife and I would come here more often but they open to late for us. We don't eat past 5 PM and anything after that is too late for us. It's been a while and for the longest time, Sycamore Inn was a destination eatery. Any special occasion warranted a visit. I loved the Prime Rib and the wife loved the Ribeye. My son enjoyed the calamari and the Filet Mignon. We all loved the Soufflé, both the chocolate and the grand marnier one. Absolutely loved this place. The last few visits have been beyond disappointing. Given overcooked prime rib. Burnt soufflé. Sad service. Specifically on my birthday, when we pointed out how badly the soufflé's were burnt, the serving staff pointed to the areas that weren't and we could eat around the bad parts. Seriously? The service was ok, a little slow but hey, they were overcrowded and trying to serve everybody efficiently. I must say that the crab stuffed shrimp was delicious! For our table, we ordered creamed corn and I must say the creamed corn is the best we have ever had in a restaurant. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas.
