My husband surprised me for my birthday and brought me here for dinner, and I'm so glad he did! The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, and the ambiance is amazing. It reminded me of goth mixed with Xmas...literally two of my favorite things! It felt classy and elegant, and I'm a big fan of this location. They send out a dress code ahead of time, and it's also posted outside and inside the restaurant. I actually really enjoyed the dress code because it gave us an excuse to dress up and enjoy a beautiful night out. While we were there, we noticed that the dress code doesn't seem to be strictly enforced, which I understand because, at the end of the day, they need to make their money. There were people dining there who looked like they were on their way to a baseball game. While the restaurant doesn't seem to be strict about the dress code, I would definitely suggest dressing nicely and looking elegant if you come here. You really do stick out like a sore thumb when you don't, and honestly, it's so nice to see people out enjoying themselves while looking their best. Our first impression wasn't the best. An older woman with long black hair at the host station came across as cranky, which was a little off-putting. However, while we were waiting to be seated, we were greeted by a younger woman who was extremely polite and wonderful. She really helped brighten the mood. Our server was also wonderful. She was an older woman with blonde hair and was incredibly sweet, kind, and attentive throughout the evening. Now for the food...the food was AMAZING! I ordered the sea bass, and it was cooked to absolute perfection. I loved every bite. The wine list was also extensive, which I really appreciated because I love wine. There were plenty of options to choose from, and I went with a Cabernet Sauvignon that was delicious. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was great as well, it had a good size portion of lobster. My husband ordered the New York Steak, he wasn't a fan of it but I don't eat red meat so I didn't try it to give my commentary. While we were eating, the manager, Edward, stopped by to greet us. I appreciate the attentive nature of this location, but not all commentary necessarily feels welcoming. He was kind, and I'm sure he meant no harm, but while talking with us, he suggested that we try the menu in the outside garden and made the comment, "It's cheaper." I felt that comment was unnecessary. We were enjoying a nice night out, and after asking us where we were from, that comment made me feel like we were quickly stereotyped. It was an uncomfortable moment and unfortunately left me with a negative impression of the manager. That being said, I don't want that interaction to overshadow the rest of our experience. The location is gorgeous, the food was amazing, our server was wonderful, and overall, I would still recommend this restaurant for a beautiful night out. While the unassuming exterior simply hints at an established, classic steakhouse, the interior completely transforms. Note: Upon entering, you aren't greeted immediately at the door; the host stand is actually a few steps to the right, with the waiting area and bar to the left. It was too hot for us to check out their magical garden, so I will have to save that for a future visit! My little brother brought me to The Magic Lamp for my birthday. We were excited to try it since IG has mentioned this spot. We were not disappointed. The meat was so flavorful, but the star of the show were the veggies and the forbidden rice!!! I was so excited to try this rice again--it's not a common menu item. Carrots are not my favorite, but wow, those flavor. I usually prefer a seafood restaurant, but I was glad I tried the steak and its sidekicks. Our waiter was also nice, and he brought me a free dessert to celebrate the occasion--touches like those make you want to come back. The only reason I did not give it a 5 was because they didn't offer more seafood options like oysters. Also, it was hard to completely enjoy my experience because it was so hot. I'd somehow never made it to The Magic Lamp Inn until a friend took me there in April. Looking back, I'm glad he did. The glowing neon lamp outside sets the tone before you even walk through the door. Inside, rich wood paneling, crystal chandeliers, cozy booths, vintage décor, and nods to old Hollywood give the restaurant plenty of character. Marilyn Monroe watches over one dining room, members of the Rat Pack gather near the bar, and every corner has another detail worth noticing. The light-up menu was another fun surprise. It's one of those little details you don't expect, though it made browsing the menu that much easier. The service was warm and attentive from start to finish. Our server checked in at just the right moments and shared a bit of the restaurant's history, including stories about Frank Sinatra and the many Hollywood legends connected to the Magic Lamp over the years. I always enjoy hearing those kinds of stories because they add another layer to the experience. The cocktails were a great way to start the evening, and I loved the classic relish tray that greeted the table. We started with the jumbo shrimp cocktail and roasted bone marrow. The shrimp were fresh and chilled, while the bone marrow was rich without feeling overly heavy, especially spread onto the toasted bread. For our main course, we shared the 22 oz. bone-in ribeye, cooked medium rare, with a side of roasted mushrooms. The steak arrived perfectly cooked, tender, flavorful, and paired beautifully with the mushrooms. It was the perfect centerpiece for the meal. When the singer performed Dream a Little Dream of Me, we both paused our conversation just to listen. It fit the room perfectly and added another layer of charm to an already memorable evening. The Magic Lamp Inn was a really good time! We drove out from LA to visit with friends in town from Portland staying nearby. Hubs and the friend picked the spot so I had no idea what to expect. What I found was this amazing steakhouse out on old Route 66 that completely takes you back to another era! I mean, it's called the Magic Lamp and it's magic that awaits you! Open the door and you're immediately transported to another time where Elvis and Sinatra are alive crooning familiar tunes you grew up with/heard your parents listen to. You should likely plan ahead and get reservations, although we didn't. It was so last minute we couldn't. But the hostess on the phone said they take limited walk-ins when we called the day before. We just arrived early and hoped for the best. And luckily, we got a table. They sat us in the bar area and although it wasn't directly in the room with Elvis or Sinatra we could hear both and it was an incredible place to sit and people watch! They have an insane cocktail list and even better, bartenders who actually know how to mix a drink properly. Every cocktail we ordered was spot on! They even had mocktails for our teen. The Steakhouse offers a variety of steak and seafood options with salads and pastas too. Plenty of sides and starters. Everything I ordered was absolutely delicious! And even the bread basket which I didn't order had some very tasty bread/pretzel options. The people in our party who ordered steak absolutely loved their plates. The fish eaters were not as in love but that's not to say that everything wasn't good. It was all enjoyable but if you're going to a steakhouse order the steak! They do it well here. The ahi tuna starter was also delicious and so was the Hemingway cocktail. If I was younger, I could have sat there all night trying every cocktail on the list. I mean when a business has a margarita called The Pornstar Margarita, they mean business. I don't eat too much red meat these days but damn, my steak with mash potatoes/ gravy and veggies was so good! My hub and teen stole several bites. I ate the whole thing and I rarely do that these days. To round up the meal, for dessert we share a baclava with ice cream and the biggest/deepest cheesecake slice I've seen in a long time! Both were excellent. As if the food and drinks weren't great the entertainers were awesome and they even had a magician roaming around! I liked that the manager (I think that was who he was) stopped by the table to ask how everything was. Old school done right! This was a very fun and memorable experience. I will remember this evening with my friends and family. It's 4.8 stars on Yelp and they truly, truly are a 5 star place! One of my most enjoyable dining experiences took place recently at The Magic Lamp Inn. I heard about this very special restaurant from a You Tube video with Charles Phoenix. The iconic magic lamp sign with the billowing flame is something you just don't see anymore. The hours of operation are limited (5pm -8:30 p.m.) but, don't let that stop you from visiting. Yes, there is a dress code but don't let that stop you either. Dining at the Magic Lamp is an experience so put on a dress shirt or nice dress. It's worth it. We arrived without prior planning or a reservation around 7:30 p.m. We had just left the Ontario Airport and decided to drop in. We were greeted very warmly and directed to the outdoor garden to enjoy the bar and comfortable surroundings. Within about 20 min our table was ready and we entered the lush, warm brandy and red surroundings. The jazz chanteuse serenaded the patrons and I became so relaxed. I imagine this is what fine dining was meant to be. Besides the drinks we enjoyed, we ordered the tequila pasta with shrimp, beet salad, and tuna tower. The pretzel bread was a definite highlight. Parking was plentiful at 5 pm but full by 7, I would uber there if you get a later reservation. There is a bar inside if you wish to get there a little early (there's also one outside I'll touch on in a bit). Seating was great and comfortable, table was ample for the plating. Waiting and service staff were prompt and professional. Food was very good, I wouldn't say 5 stars but a solid four. My steak was a little overcooked, but everything else was very good. Ordered the ribeye with potatoes and zucchini, my FRIEND ordered the chicken with broccoli and mashed potatoes (very well prepared and cooked). We added a side of mushrooms which were a highlight of the meal. Cocktails were great and balanced. For entertainment we had Elvis in the building ! Not needed but greatly enjoyed. There was also a magician doing card tricks roaming around. We didn't have room for dessert but the options looked great. The owner came by to thank us for attending and invited us to the remodeled outdoor bar and patio which came with a 25% discount for being dinner guests. The outdoor area was beautiful and interesting. Our hostess was attentive and kind. Again, great cocktails and they also had a short menu for those wishing to have a more casual evening. We went here for date night on a hot day and I suppose this is on us but I thought the attire wasn't strict. Boy was I wrong. The lychee drink was also exquisite a bit on the sweeter side. Our server was super kind and accommodating which I didn't really get that from the front of the house at least. I went here for my belated birthday dinner and my family was very impressed Our hosts were considerate and attentive, determined to get us the best table in house to free up so that we could watch the live Elvis performance (I love Elvis!). The atmosphere immersed us in this 1950s Supper Club theme, making this place a unique and true novelty. There are mannequins and stained glass windows and little decorations here and there. As for the food, I overall felt it was very reasonably priced and high quality. I tried 3 different steaks and thought the filet mignon and Porterhouse were great. I am typically a big NY strip person, but I thought the other two were better than the NY though it was still good. I believe the NY steak was just a little overcooked which may have contributed. Mushrooms were solid, the lobster mac was tasty, and the tuna tower was yummy. Overall, it's a hidden place that I have not heard much about. Given the thought and experience of it all, I really enjoyed the place and wouldn't mind coming back. I finally got to dine in this restaurant. I've passed by so many times even throughout my childhood and always wanted to eat here. Yesterday was the day for me. I joined a dating site after being off of one for at least four months and I was immediately contacted by 12 men. I accepted a date offer from the first gentleman who asked me out. He said I could go anywhere I wanted to go and I chose here. As we conversed throughout the day a little bit, the date seemed like it wasn't going to happen and I already made the reservation. I decided that whether he showed up or not I was still going to go in. He did not show up and I went in and let the gal hosting her name was Avery, know that it was just going to be me dining. They found a perfect little quaint table for me to sit at by a window, and by where the gal was singing. I had an absolute wonderful experience. Edward, The Owner even came up to me and introduced himself and asked me what I was drinking. I said I ordered a Shirley Temple and he insisted on giving me a complementary glass of wine to go with my meal. What a total, sweetheart. The restaurant made me feel like I was back in time and even featured in the movie Goodfellas. My appetizer was the brussels sprouts. It also came with a bread basket with an assortment of bread, rolls, and pretzel rolls with these cute little dollop's of butter. I also ordered the porterhouse steak as my main entrée extra well done. Alongside it came with some asparagus and some garlic mashed potatoes. Everything was presented beautifully and it was absolutely delicious. Tristan was my waiter. An absolute adorable kid, who made my dining experience, exceptional. I can't wait to go back and try the ribeye steak next time. Thank you for the amazing experience. If you are looking for old school in the IE look no further than The Magic Lamp. The food here is great, along with the service. I really like the location, along with the old school feel of the Magic Lamp. The service itself is great. The interior reminds me of The Smoke House in Burbank. The staff here is always welcoming, and friendly. A must for a celebration dinner, or just a dinner. read more

The decorations are beautiful and unique, making the restaurant feel more like a special getaway than just a dinner spot. Service was excellent throughout the night and the staff really helped create a warm, celebratory vibe. The filet mignon was cooked well and definitely one of the highlights. The shrimp bisque had good flavor but was a little too salty for my taste. Bread and pretzel were just so-so, nothing particularly memorable.
