Very friendly service but I also think it can get a little rowdy at nights/weekends. 3/5 Visited TKLA on a Saturday around 6:00 PM while I was in the area. The restaurant was empty when we arrived but quickly filled up. I honestly didn't expect to find a spot like this in Ontario. It attracts a diverse crowd and has two distinct spaces--a traditional dining room and a livelier bar area with a DJ booth. The party side was definitely a vibe, with mostly bar-top seating and a cool LED tree in the center. The service was friendly, and I appreciated how the staff worked together. Whenever our main server was busy, another team member stepped in to help, so we never felt forgotten. The menu was a little on the pricey side. My friends' chicken entrées were around $30, and my steak and shrimp fajitas were about $35. The portions were generous--I had enough leftovers to take home. My friends finished their chicken dishes, but they all commented that the chicken was dry. My steak had almost no flavor, and I had to add salt just to make it enjoyable. We even asked for salsa to add some extra moisture and flavor. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back for the food, but if you're looking for a fun night out, this could be worth checking out. We had an excellent experience at TKLA Grill & Cantina! I organized a team-building lunch for my coworkers, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. I know this place recently opened and decided to give it a try, and I was honestly impressed! Place was busy on a Saturday night, decor was outstanding, lounge vibe very LA style but located in Ontario, plenty of parking too, service was outstanding Shafik took excellent care of us, the Manager George was very welcoming made our visit very pleasant. Chose to celebrate out 30th wedding anniversary here. Walking up it was interesting to see a step and repeat, not something you typically see at a restaurant but based on the popularity of the restaurant it was understandable. Been to many different countries, and have eaten in a lot of restaurants, but can honestly say that I have never walked into a restaurant and the host (greeter) was sitting down. This was a first. Was a bit set back walking in and seeing her on her phone. We chose to sit in the lounge, was seated and told our server would arrive shortly. Host came and asked if we had met our server, we had not. He came to our table and introduced himself. No recommendations or specials of the restaurant were given. The lounge is beautiful, really nice vibe, great sound and cool environment. Ordered the Margarita flight, and Guacamole with Chicharrón's. Will say presentation of everything we ordered was on point. Margaritas were flavorful, but were lacking alcohol. We weren't offered chips and salsa, so not sure if they're given or not. Guacamole was good but had no jalapeño, so it had no spice to it. Asked for salsa, and it was like Pace, all tomato's, again no spice. The menu was interesting. There was steaks, seafood, tacos, burritos, pastas, then there was California rolls, hamburgers, and pizza. Kinda of brought down the level of the restaurant to me. Stuck with appetizers, and ordered aguachile, and buffalo sauce chicken wings; told the server we would like the wings to be spicy as we we're seeing spice was not really a thing here. Again, presentation was really on point. Wings were cooked perfectly, and had good spice with plenty of sauce. Have had aguachile throughout Mexico, and when you eat it you know it's spicy! Again, this one failed, was disappointing, no spice. Was like eating shrimp, cucumbers and avocado in a green lemon sauce. Ordered a Cadillac margarita that was really good. Don't think this will be a place we'll come back to. Sadly we were disappointed. This was a pretty pricey evening for food that could have easily been a lot better. read more

We came here for early dinner last weekend on 7/5/2026 thinking we would be able to catch some of the Mexico vs England World Cup match. However the match was delayed so we ended up finishing our meal before the game even started. We ordered: 1) chorizo steak molcajete - we enjoyed this! Comes with tortillas too 2) shrimp aguachile - lots of shrimp and flavor was ok 3) banana split for dessert - this was good We asked for water and they don't provide free tap water, and force everyone to buy their Fiji bottled water at $6 per bottle but we said no thanks. Wow. This was a huge swing and a miss. We looked forward to this meal based on the reviews. We were very disappointed. I don't typically leave 1 star reviews, but this meal was beyond awful. See photos. Also, this was opening weekend. We ordered Costal de Azul shrimp appetizer (bacon wrapped shrimp).. bacon was raw inside and the shrimp were cold. Had to send them back. Shrimp and steak fajitas were the saddest we ever ordered. The steak was tiny pieces of charred and leathery meat, the shrimp were small, luke warm and were boiled .. not grilled. The veggies were still raw. Skillet was barely warmed thru. Shrimp a la Diabla.. spicy shrimp.. over white rice. Thr shrimp were sad, tossed in a spicy sauce, very tiny and tasted frozen. 5/10 at best. All dishes come with charro beans (whole pinto with bacon bits). No refried bean option and tasted reheated. Corn and flour tortillas were straight from the package, not heated at all. Most of our food was cold or luke warm. Extensive cocktail menu. We tried their Mango Margarita. Asked for it blended. FYI they said they don't have a blender to blend drinks. On the rocks only. Sadly, kids chicken tenders were the best item we ordered. Prices are extremely high for low quality food. The ontario area and surrounding areas have some of the best hole in the wall mexican restaurants. I would highly recommend trying a different place if you want even decent mexican food. read more

Walking in we were very excited based on the decor and ambiance but it ended there. We ordered Micheladas, aquachiles verde and the chimichurri steak and cheese fajitas dish. While the aquachiles was good the Michelada was just tomato juice with beer, nothing added to it and the chimichurri steak was so salty it was hard to eat. It looked more like a sauce than a chimichurri. And the fajitas don't come with tortillas, I've never experienced that. read more

Seven of us commuted from Riverside County to TKLA to celebrate our friends's birthday. The birthday girl chose this particular restaurant for the "vibes." Ambiance - when I walked into the restaurant I was immediately impressed. My understanding is that it's only been open for a few weeks. It's a beautiful place with an energetic vibe, perfect for a birthday celebration as they bring out the birthday sign with music and it is a blast! They have a DJ booth in the second dining area and we were told they would play music. Sadly, that was a lie they decided to put a fight on the big screen television, which was in Spanish. No problem, this is a Spanish restaurant. It would've been great to have music because the TKLA gives off a party vibe... and, you do have a DJ booth in the dining room at 8 PM on a Saturday night - DUH . Service- They fell short on the service. Our server had only been there for two days and she knew nothing about the menu or the drinks. Any restaurant with a liquor license knows that liquor is their money maker so not knowing about cocktails could get you in trouble. Not circling back with your guests to inquire as to whether they want another cocktail is also setting yourself up for a loss of MAJOR revenue We had to go to the bar to order our drinks in order to obtain more detail and ensure that we got what we wanted. There were three bartenders, but the service was extremely slow there as well. It felt like what took over 20 minutes to order a drink, and there were only five people at the bar. I will say that the drinks were fantastic! I ordered the Margarita flight which was made by one of the co-owners who is a bottle of energy. Food - food is another area where they lacked. We came for a 6:00 PM reservation. We ordered the guacamole which came with Chicharrones. They had already run out...fail! I ordered a surf & turf wet burrito, which was supposed to come with guacamole on the inside. Unfortunately, I got a cold burrito. That was mainly canned black beans, super tough beef, and absolutely no guacamole. When the server finally returned 20 minutes later to the table, I explained there was no guacamole inside the burrito and opened it up to show her. She came back 10 minutes later with a small saucer of guacamole. Why not just offered to make it over? My friend ordered a ranchero plate that came with rice which came cold. Another friend ordered the steak medium well it came served well. To me, the food was just an epic fail! I would definitely not go back for the food. read more

Went on Friday, May 8th as an early Mother's Day dinner. We were first sat down in what I would call the main area. It was very dark and the music was way too loud. Loud enough where I don't think we would have been able to talk. We moved into the area closest to the door. This area was a little better, but we could still hear the music, but we were able to talk. The waitress had a hard time hearing us, not sure if her hearing was affected by being in the other area. The restaurant was very HOT! I'm not sure if the A/C wasn't working our what, but by the end of dinner I was very sweaty. The food was decent but descriptions were not accurate. I ordered the Chimichurri bites fajitas. The description was steak bites. It was not steak, it was a very fatty pot roast beef, but it was good. My daughter's chicken breast was very bland. My wife enjoyed her Swiss enchiladas and my son liked his Mar y Tierra fajitas. The staff was very friendly. The waitress we had was nice but slow. Drinks seemed to take a long time to come out. I would definitely go back, but maybe not for a special occasion and much earlier in the day in the hopes that the music isn't so loud. read more

Karaoke was the entertainment and the woman running the karaoke was really good. I didn't eat but I did have great drinks and service from Daniel and Stephanie. My food came out after everyone at our table was already done eating and heading to karaoke on Mother's Day, which honestly left a bad taste in my mouth. The waitress offered me chicken wings for the inconvenience, then still added them to the bill. My daughter's pizza was burned, we told her we didn't want it, and it was still charged too. We also had a party of about 15 people and only got one tiny serving of chips and salsa for the whole table until we asked for more, plus we were missing utensils. As a former waitress myself, I understand busy nights, but the service definitely needs improvement, especially for the amount of money we spent. /5: Our party of 6 came to watch the World Cup Game of Mexico v. England. Game was pushed back to 6 PM and 3/6 of us arrived no later than 3:30 PM. At the entrance, a male server approached the hostess stating "do not seat anyone in my section. We were immediately ushered to outdoor seating in the heat where we our request to sit indoors was denied due to reservations. As we sat outside, we requested water especially as we were outdoors we were told it would be bottled and were brought midsize Fiji Waters (each costing $6 on the tab). As the game approached, people arriving after us were seated indoors and if seated outdoors were offered water in a cup instead of bottled water. Our server apologized for the setting which she referred to as "disorganized." The female server was nice enough and received a tip. I attended a birthday dinner at TKLA Grill and left extremely disappointed. The biggest issue wasn't that hair was found in multiple meals at our table, mistakes happen. The real problem was the complete lack of concern from management. After bringing the issue to the manager's attention, he seemed more interested in keeping the party going than addressing a legitimate food safety concern. He offered complimentary shots but made little effort to investigate what happened, speak with staff, or reassure our group that the matter was being taken seriously. Shortly afterward, he returned to DJing and dancing with other guests while we were still trying to get answers. As paying customers, we expected professionalism and accountability. Instead, our concerns were brushed aside, and we left feeling ignored. Attempts to reach ownership afterward were also unsuccessful. The atmosphere may be lively for Sunday brunch, but customer service and management fell far below expectations. Unfortunately, this experience was enough to ensure I won't be returning. read more

Very disappointed with our experience. I visited with a party of eight for my birthday, and we found hair in two separate plates. I personally pulled a hair out of my mouth while eating, and another guest in our party found hair in her food as well. As a restaurant owner myself, I understand that mistakes happen. The issue was how management handled it. George was dismissive, laughed off our concerns, questioned whether the hair came from the food, and later ignored me when I tried speaking with him before leaving. I reached out to the owner directly in hopes of resolving the matter privately, but my emails went unanswered. The server was professional and attentive, but the food, management, and lack of customer service made this a very disappointing birthday dinner. I've been here multiple times now, and it's always a 10/10 experience. One of the best things about this place is how welcoming it is. You can just walk right in and the staff is ready to help, though reservations are an option if you prefer.
