One of my keys on my laptop keyboard came off and for the life of me, I could not figure out how to fix it. I have been living with this problem for a few months now, but finally today I decided to get it fixed. I fired up my Yelp app and Sydewayz was the first to pop up with many positive reviews so I decided to give it a go. I called the store prior to my visit and asked if they could fix the key. The gentleman on the phone was very courteous and informative and he let me know that if he did have the key for my Samsung laptop, he would be able to repair it for about $15 and it would be done in 10 minutes. A few minutes later, I stopped in and Yak took a look at my keyboard. He told me apologetically that he did not have the key and asked if I wanted to use another key on my laptop (that gets less use) temporarily for the broken one (the one that does get used a lot). I declined this as I wanted to make sure all my keys on the keyboard would work. He fidgeted a bit more with this broken key and within second, he was able to fix the key! He then said, "well, I wish I had tried that first before giving you the information I did." We both laughed and then he told me, "not sure how long this will last (as the bracket under the key is still broken), but it will hold for now." He was also kind enough to refer me to another computer repair store and even wrote down the address for me. Yak was super nice, helpful and professional. I would highly recommend coming here to get your computer serviced as Yak will give you honest and courteous service. I brought my HP tower in for an update and paid $90.00 for that. I brought my Macbook pro into the shop before Covid-19 hit. because it was not working. I recieved 1 text message from them and nothing more for 1 month straight . A woman answers the phone but no one ever returns your calls back at all. I've called them for 1 month straight. No one has time for games but, they were open 1 moment in the month of June to give away 200 laptops. KMEL gave this company all the glory that day. I still have never recieved a call back to pick up my HP tower or my Macbook pro. I would appreciate my items back and stop playing hide and seek. The courts system won't be closed forever and when they do open up if I dont have my property back I will take you to small claims court. I will never recommend your business to anyone ever. My husband's coworker came here to have computer looked at and refurbished after buying the computer in used, unrefurbished condition. That was a couple of months ago. Fast forward to bright and early today when I attempted to turn in my computer to finish up some grading, get a jump start on some lesson planning and possibly clean out my email inbox. Good ol' Macintosh the Mac was completely dark and silent. I did EVERYTHING the Apple support website and other online forums said to do to get my baby, my laptop, up and working. I brought my laptop in after I dropped it and shattered the screen. I usually repair my own but thought it would be a hassle with so many tiny pieces and that I should pay a professional. I brought my laptop in to show them and asked for a time frame it would be able to get fixed and how much it would cost. He quoted $100 and said he could get it down in a couple days. I should add that I had already bought the replacement glass and gave it to them to use, they only need to remove the broken (which I know is time consuming and probably a four hour job) and put on the new. Great, Sounds good. Left my laptop. Called back in a couple days and he was not done. Asked when he would be able to get it to it and he said a couple days. Annoying, but sure, maybe they are busy. called back a couple days later AND IT WAS STILL NOT DONE. I called back and asked if I could come take my laptop and bring it back. He said no it was not okay, and he would do it. I explained I had work to do and my laptop held all the components and i could bring it back. He then hung up on me. Annoyed, frustrating, and honestly getting a little angry I drove over to pick up my laptop. He refused to open the door and threatened to call the cops on me FOR PICKING UP MY OWN PROPERTY?! Two days later he 'finished" but did not actually remove all of the previous broken glass, so the new glass panel was literally falling off when I opened the computer. I was hesitant to call because I've been overcharged before and not had great results with fixing computer problems. What a thrill to bring my old ibm buggie laptop to Sydewayz and have Yak take such GREAT care of me and my laptop. Excellent customer service, Yaz checked it out on the spot and explained what he needed to do in clear language for this very non-techy person. Gave me a reasonable estimate of charges and time to repair. Then, wonder of wonders, my laptop was fixed on time and on the lower estimate price. Yak also asked if he could fix something he found at no extra charge to me, just because he thought it would help my laptop work faster. They may be moving to a larger location near their current location so check first but I give them five stars and will recommend them to friends and family. And it's a bonus to have a up and coming black business in East Oakland. read more

Yap has to be one of the most knowledgeable individuals when it comes to technology I have ever seen. About three weeks ago I spilled soda on my MacBook keyboard and I thought my computer was finished. Went to Best buy to see if It could be repaired and to see if I had a warranty. Well, my warranty was expired and they basically said my MacBook was finished. Something told me to go see Yap because I ran into him two weeks prior I asked him to check it out and my motherboard was fried all he did was replace the motherboard for a reasonable price and I was good to go. If you have any computer trouble Yap can take care of it. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone. read more

Great service and great place! "Yap", the owner is so kind and informative. He really knows computers and if you are having trouble, you should seek him out. The place also has a nice vibe. PC or MAC, he knows both! This is my preferred location for tech support for my mom and me when in the area. In this case we had a cracked iphone cover and he had one that we bought to replace it! Not sure if he is still providing that service, but he can pretty much fix anything. And he also sells other electronics. Can't recommend Sydewayz enough. I went here to get my computer glass replaced because it shattered on my laptop. It took the technician Yakpasua three tries and 44 days to complete a four hour task. The first return of the computer , the whole new glass piece just fell right off. The second time he replaced it, he didn't wipe the screen so there was a lot of dust behind the glass. He also destroyed the rubber seal around the glass. Aside from his inattention to detail he often told me to come by the shop during a specified time and I would arrive only to find the store completely closed up. He would close early, or open late or sometimes just not be open at all. When I asked him to prioritize my computer the third time I brought it in because he had made a mistake and I had already paid for the job to be done, he told me he could not afford to do that, and he would get to my computer when he wanted to. He called me one evening and told me that if I could make it to his shop in five minutes I could come get my computer. I hurriedly drove there only to find the store closed up. I began banging on the roll-up door because there were lights on. He drove up saying his 12 year old son was locked inside and thought I was trying to break in. Why someone would lock there child in a storefront on a Friday night is beyond me, but regardless he admitted that actually did not complete the job and the screen STILL had to be replaced. I asked him to please just give me my computer unfinished so I could do it myself and he refused to go inside because he was already closed. When I asked if I could come get it during his hours the next day (Saturday) he told me he was only going to be there at 8am and would not be there during his hours or at any other time for me to come get my computer. I strongly discourage coming here for anything. He is rude and has bad business practices. read more
