I think they've gotten a big head or something and think their food is the most fabulous food on the planet. Sorry, but it isn't. Checked this spot out just prior to heading to Montana de Oro for sunset time. They had excellent burgers with a great selection. Got the pineapple and mushroom burger, both were super juicy! Definitely needed a handful of napkins b to keep clean. I think there is room for improvement with the garlic fries. It tasted and looks like they use jarred, pre-minced garlic which left me wanting the fresh, aromatic smell and taste of freshly minced garlic. Otherwise, good service and short wait times as there were only 2 other guests when we arrived around 3:30pm on a weekday. We arrived on a Friday evening around 7:15 pm (they close at 8) and right before we got out of the car, a boatload of people ended up getting in line right before us and we noticed in this long line that there was a kiosk where people were putting in their orders through that kiosk and I went around to see if there was a shorter line where you could place your order in person. Sure enough, there was and this ended up being a better way to order as they were extremely busy and they seemed understaffed and the table next to us who was there before us ended up having an error in their kiosk order. I was extremely impressed with the woman who seemed to be in charge as her customer service was excellent, and she clearly was keeping things running smoothly, even when there seemed to be some issues with the kiosk orders. She had her hair back in a bun and was wearing glasses, and I was very impressed with how she was going around and ensuring that everybody's orders were put in. She needs a raise! As someone who has worked in hospitality for years, it is rare these days that someone who is young clearly cares about Customer Service! My husband and I came here on May 21, 2024. Someone recommended this place to us so we decided to try it out. We arrived around 11:20 AM and there were a couple customers ahead of us and we noticed that the Fire Department was also there eating. We had our dogs with us and we sat outside. It was a cool day and it felt nice to sit outside in the sun. I ordered a 1/3 lb cheeseburger and my husband got a 1/2 lb cheeseburger. We shared an order of half onion rings and half fries. Looking at the time stamp of my photos, the food came out in 12 minutes (husband finished ordering at 11:24 AM and food came out at 11:36 AM). As I looked down at my burger which was open, I could see the juice running out of it, wow. I posted a video of it too lol. All the food was so hot so we could definitely tell it was just made. I literally had no complaints. We received friendly service, the food was delicious, loved the fries and the texture of the onion rings. Tonight is the second time that employees have been very rude. The time is says they close is 8pm yet if you go after 7pm everything is put away and they are in a big hurry to get out of there. It should be expected if you close at 8pm that employees need to work till 8:30 and sometimes beyond to fully service customers. Every customer treated with disrespect is a possible loss of revenue and possible loss of repeat business. Perhaps the owner is pressuring employees to clock out asap. I have conflicting opinions of Sylvester's. Its prices have gone up so much that it's honestly kind of hard to enjoy it for what it is. They are burgers. Good burgers even. But ridiculously expensive for what you get. Fries aren't included in the burger prices and any adjustments come with a charge. Impossible burgers are great to have on the menu, but charging almost $20 for a burger? With no fries? Oof! Service is pretty slow, and staff are indifferent, not friendly, not rude. It is very dark inside, with a grimy feel. The pictures on the walls are a little depressing honestly. Just feels a little uncleanable and icky. It's too pricey with no upgrades in quality, restaurant atmosphere, or general dining experience to match. The color palette they chose for the restaurant, although has no bearing on the food, or whether or not I would go or not, is worth mentioning because it's just atrocious. Friendly fast service with a classic menu. Tried the pastrami and decided to order just the way it comes. Flavor profile was on point. I tend to like thinner sliced pastrami but that's my personal preference as with most of my meat. Again just my preference so ignore me cause it was damn tasty. Okay. So we got some insider advice to try this place. YOU SHOULD GO! Probably one of the top 5 burgers ever which on any given day could be the best based on what was available. The burger (we had a mushroom cheese) was delicious. It was hot, juicy, and the taste was incredible. It had the throwback aroma and taste of those childhood places where everything stood out but somehow melted together with each chew into an incredible melody of taste. I loved everything about it. We had half fries and onion rings. Full disclosure. I am allergic to onions (travesty) and this was like the last temptation. The fries were incredible and there was an onion ring staring at me.
