    Roast beef Sammie

Got the roast beef sandwich and German potato salad. Was disappointed that the meat was not rare and a bit overcooked. The flavor was good though. Take a look at the photo and compare to other photos where the meat is nice a rare. I have had better here previous and same for the potato salad it. So I had had better of both items here in the past. I still love the fast service and sitting outside with a view.

We ate here while exploring Morro Bay. You walk in and review an overhead menu and place the order with the cashier. There seemed to be some good food options here as well as beer selection. We ordered and grabbed a table outside with a nice view to Morro Rock. We ordered a Rueben sandwich, a chicken sandwich, a chicken sandwich with avocado, bacon and cheese (ABC) and fish n chips. The Rueben and ABC chicken sandwich were great! I was impressed with the gourmet lettuce and the brioche bun. The other two items, regular chicken sandwich and the fish n chips were OK. Since this isn't a full service restaurant, the service is tough to grade the but the employees were pleasant. 3.5 stars!

Same standard fare with the usual suspects. Roast beef sandwich was average but au jus lacked seasoning and rather bland. Bread was fresh and soft. Views of the bay.

Went back again! And it was even better! Got the hot pastrami on the roll this time instead of the rye. Wow what a difference. Way less soggy and easyer to eat! And i love the frys! Service with a smile, and seating right on the bay. Perfect location for pastrami goodness.

Dog friendly restaurant; plus French dip is pretty good here. I tried the roast beef and the special with pastrami. Service is great. What's more, the view outside is amazing, especially sun set hours.

Location, location, location. This is prime real estate with an epic view. Located on Morrowbay touching the water. In the background you have a nature reserve and Morrow Bay Rock. The seafood is good here, as good as Seattle's, just like Seattle and Portland most of the food is breaded and fried. This isn't the nicest restaurant but it's good for all ages, you can eat here if you're bundled in winter gear or beach attire, weather permitting. The beer selection is small but good. The staff and service is fast and efficient. You only speak to them when you order food at the counter and grab your food. The rest is self service.

really good French dip sandwich sandwiches. It's our go to place for whenever we head to Morro Bay - I love their German potato salad which is warm and yummy and my husband is a big fan of the French dip which I am as well. Downside is they charge you $.50 for water per cup and went there two days in a row on the second day the meat was kind of chewy but I think that's an anomaly because it's typically really good. Add points for being dog friendly so I make it four stars

Hofbrau Morro Bay came highly recommended by a friend a few years ago when I mentioned we were planning a weekend trip to the area--and I'm so glad we took the advice. When my boyfriend and I first walked in, he was a bit skeptical since it's a walk-up counter service spot, which isn't usually his thing. But the moment our food arrived, all of that went out the window. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The roast beef sandwich was loaded with thick, juicy slices of perfectly cooked roast beef, and the bread was just the right mix of crisp and chewy--the perfect vessel for such a great sandwich. The fries were double-fried, giving them that ideal crispy exterior and soft, fluffy inside. The staff was friendly, fast, and efficient, and the view from the deck overlooking the water made the whole experience even better. It might look like a simple sandwich shop from the outside, but the quality and flavors make it something truly special. We now make the 2.5-hour drive regularly just to eat here--it's that good. If you're in Morro Bay or even just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop at Hofbrau. It's hands down one of the best sandwich shops in California.

    Hot and Spicy French Dip

Amazing spot in Morro Bay! Service is quick and easy. You start by ordering at the front, then they bring your food to you. We ordered the hot and spicy french dip, fried cod sandwich, and a clam chowder bread bowl (not pictured). The french dip's beef was nice and tender. The jalapenos and pepperjack cheese were nice additions to give the sandwich some kick. The fried cod on the fish sandwich was super fresh and fried to perfection. I think if I came back I would get the cod on its own. Loved the extra crispy fries! The bread bowl was also amazing. Generous portion of soup and the bread was nice and warm. We got to sit by the window where we got a nice view of the Morro Bay rock. Great casual spot with nice employees!

Came here on New Year's Day in a group of 8, and we were so pleased we did! We sat at two tables for four on the patio, and the views were breathtaking! This place is great, you wait in a line to order at the counter, then you receive a number and your order is brought to your table. Though they were very busy, all our food was brought out fresh, and when requesting extra pickles...wow did they deliver! Two varieties at no extra charge! They were trying to get the food out all at once, but the bread bowls did take a bit longer. It was okay, they all arrived. Then, one of the kind workers brought out another fresh, full bread bowl, and said, oh, well here you go. They knew there was bit of a wait, wanted to make sure we got it, and they could have just taken back the extra, but they gave it to our table. Between the two tables in our group, we ordered Clam Chowder in Bread Bowls, Popcorn Shrimp, Kid's Meals with mini corn dogs, chicken strips, and clam chowder. Also ordered was a salad, French Dips, and a Veggie Burger. Nobody had leftovers, not because of portions, they were ample...but we devoured it all! It's all good, the workers are very accommodating and kind, and prices are fairly reasonable. I highly recommend stopping by here when you are visiting Morro Bay.

WoW...now I've lived here in MB for a few years and this is my first visit to the Brau. I've been told ya gotta go there they have the best roast beef sandwich. So I'm here now, the line behind us and I'm ordering the Roast beef Dip and a side of the fries, with Coca cola, please. My buddy G ordered Corned beef on Rye bread. Service was to the point, ask question, order, pay and take a number placard to the table of your choice. I picked the "best table" Seating outside too but the wind wasn't cooperating. Served rather quickly and with a smile and friendly banter. The Best value for a sandwich I've seen in a long while, a good 7oz portion of beef, cooked tender and topped with my choice of cheese, Au Jus on the side made dipping fun. Whew...and yes the bread roll was fresh and soft yet sturdy enough to make the eating somewhat decent to view. G raved about his corned beef sandwich, he took half home for dinner. I was pleased to see that he wanted to buy today. Thanks G, and thanks Brau I enjoyed my free lunch. foodguy-martin

Unfortunately, their sandwiches are about the same - at least the one I try. I ordered a turkey on a roll with lettuce, cheese, and mayo. The bread was still SO DRY that I couldn't like the sandwich at all. I did order a small pizza and a hotdog. These are new to the menu since I was there last. After waiting an incredibly long amount of time to get my order, I was at least happy with the pizza and hot dog. Glad to have a hot dog option next to the theatre so I can sneak one in!! I ordered extra cheese on the pizza but I didn't need to. I am happy to upgrade my star rating to 3-stars for those two new items. I am picky about the bread for my sandwiches and honestly the only one I liked was when you had the sliced wheat bread option available one day as a fluke. I will go to Mr. Pickles for my sandwiches from now on, but I might stop in for a pizza or a dog.

I…read morecan't say for sure that they were involved in this situation, but the store was completely sold out of chicken. Maybe all that bird watching worked up an appetite for bird. We read reviews. We looked at the menu online, then we walked from our hotel to the restaurant, planning to order a tri tip sandwich and chicken nachos, which were advertised as having either fried chicken or pulled chicken options. When we arrived, we were informed that they were out of both pulled chicken and tri tip. Not to fear, I told the clerk that we would have he nachos with friend chicken. Alas, they don't sell fried chicken anymore. I asked her what proteins they DID have. Ribs and pork loin, deli sliced were the only options. I asked if the nachos could be made with pork. They could. We ordered that and ribs. First, the good: the homemade potato chips are excellent. The BBQ sauce isn't bad. Now that we are done with that, down to the reality of the situation. I should have known better. We had been staying in a hotel not a hundred yards away for two days and hadn't smelled any smoke or BBQ. When we got back to our hotel room, we opened the boxes. Plating was attractive. The chips are good. A small side note. There is a gas station near my parents' house (North Fork Minit Mart if you are ever interested in visiting the geographic center of California) that purchases pre-seasoned ribs from Costco and cooks them in a crock pot full of sauce. If you like the ribs at this place, you will LOVE those ones. There was no smoke, no smoke ring, no evidence of BBQ at all. The name of the place is "savory smoke"... but the food is neither savory nor smokey. Thr ribs were tough, flavorless and stringy. Even a little salt would have helped. The rub was strale and "muddy". I'm not one who wants ribs to actually fall off the bone, but these you couldn't even get off the bone. The chips were good. The "nachos" were the chips (which are good), covered in canned cheese, flavorless baked pork loin in this case and onions. The onions and the chips stole the show. The chips are good. Incidentally, there is a bar next door that seemed steadily busy. My recommendation is that "savory smoke" give up the facade that they are in any way a BBQ join, because they simply aren't, knock down the wall to let the bar expand, and simply make chips for the bar patrons. The meat was trash. Thr chips were good. This place should be ashamed of itself.

Going to keep this short & sweet (which I like doing, being that's what most really want to know). The Pulled Chicken Sandwich is great! It's juicy, not over seasoned, mix of thigh & breast, topped with their BBQ sauce & coleslaw! What more do you want? Exactly, nothing! Perfect just the way it is. Nothing over the top, nor gimmicky. I truly like this pulled chicken sandwich! The Fried Raviolis are also good, nice app to add. Looking forward to trying their Tri-Tip sandwich, hopefully it's as good! All in all: Very friendly service, great food, small menu, comfortable ambiance. Will definitely become among my favorite places here in Morro Bay.

Tourists flood the…read morebeaches, traffic crawls through Pismo, and every scenic overlook suddenly becomes a photoshoot for people who discovered the central coast three days ago. So my girlfriend and I did what locals do this afternoon: we tried to escape the madness and disappear into Los osos for a few hours. Not that there's any "sneaking into" High Street Deli. That line is eternal. It exists outside the laws of time and tourism. Rain or shine, weekday or holiday weekend, there will always be a crowd gathered outside chasing the same thing: the perfect sandwich on the perfect California afternoon. And honestly? They're right. Nothing beats a High Street sando on a sunny day. You grab a Dutch Punch and a cold Cali Squeeze and suddenly everything slows down. The sandwich arrives absurdly overstuffed with layers of turkey, extra bacon, jalapeño havarti, onion, tomato, avocado, chipotle mayo, Dutch crunch bread that's barely surviving the structural pressure holding the whole masterpiece together. It's messy in the way all truly great food is messy. No pretension. No carefully curated "elevated deli experience." Just pure Central Coast comfort engineered for people who spent the morning surfing, hiking Montana de Oro, or sitting in beach traffic questioning their life choices. And the Cali Squeeze? Citrus beer sweating in the afternoon heat while ocean air drifts through Los Osos. That's the high locals chase all summer long. What hurts is admitting publicly how good this place really is. Every local wants to protect High Street like a secret fishing spot. You want visitors to enjoy the coast, just maybe somewhere else first. But denying High Street its flowers would feel dishonest. Because this place is the heartbeat of the Central Coast in summertime. The patio fills with surfers, old locals in sun-faded hats, Cal Poly kids, dogs asleep under picnic tables, couples lingering over beers because nobody here is ever truly in a hurry. Somebody's talking about swell conditions. Somebody else is debating whether to head to Morro Bay after lunch. The smell of sandwiches, sunscreen, and salt air hangs over everything. It's not glamorous. It's better than glamorous. It's real. And somewhere between the first bite of a Dutch Punch and the first sip of a Cali Squeeze, you remember why people who grow up on the Central Coast never fully leave even when they move away. Because they spend the rest of their lives trying to recreate afternoons like this.
