My bunny stopped eating suddenly and my regular vet had no availability for several days. I called Symphony on a whim and they told me they don't accept new bunny patients so I thought I had to keep searching UNTIL the office administrator called me right back to let me know that I was in the system and they had a cancellation so they would see my bunny! I hadn't been there in over 15yrs but I was still in the system, so keep that in mind, they keep their records forever! The vet was really kind and examined my bunny thoroughly, prescribed meds to help with inflammation or any discomfort, I also purchased some Critical Care to administer several times a day at home until he started eating on his own again. I'm so grateful they were able to see us at the last minute and now I have two veterinarians in the neighborhood who I can call to schedule check-ups and for any -heaven forbid- emergencies in the future. He made a full recovery! Everyone I spoke to at Symphony was professional and compassionate. read more

My rabbit Cinnamon was a rescue from poor conditions and Dr. Ledner and the team have ensured he is happy and healthy always. She always answers my millions of questions with grace, expertise, and ease, and performed his neuter so well that he was back up and running like nobody's business within 24-48 hours (though we told him to take it easy haha!). Although I have taken my cats to Symphony Vet since its inception for critical care, and always found the vets compassionate and knowledgeable, I have had more frequent contact over the past year or so since my most recent cat, Troy, named 16 years ago by my sons for Troy Polamalu :), developed kidney issues and then cancer. Every member of the team has been terrific. Front office staff have answered calls from me sobbing and been unbelievably kind and patient. I have had contact with three vets in the last theee months--in person, phone, and email--and they were all caring and thoughtful and informative in helping me navigate my cat's end-of-life care. I honestly can't imagine regularly navigating euthanasia as part of my daily work--I have nothing but praise for the entire staff. read more

I have been blindly loyal to this vet for x years. Each year it has gotten progressively worse. Very impersonal and cold. My last visit (yesterday) was terrible. Condescending, unsympathetic vet who did not bother to look at my pet's record from LAST YEAR. Did NOT examine her. Just wanted to get my pup back to the "lab" for her vaccines and basic bloodwork without informing me that that was where she was going to do the "exam." Like, huh? Very poor pet-owner/vet communication. People at the desk are flippant and quick to ask you to report your issue not to them, but to management. Whoever they are, lol. My family has been using the services of the Symphony Veterinary Center since we adopted our late dog Mambo in 2001. Since then we had adopted our dog, Hugo, and have been utilizing their services up until now. I absolutely love Dr. Levison, and the services have been significantly approved since Hugo's older doctor, who dropped him when he was a puppy left. I love how Hugo is being cared for and I'm very happy with how thoroughly and carefully they do everything. The level of service has declined tremendously over the years. I've been bringing my cat here for nearly 10 years. In recent years, I believe ownership has changed and customer service has declined. There is no consistency among the different vets. The front end staff are rude.   I was told my cat needed surgery. I called in Nov and was told I was being put on a waiting list for January.  Today I am being told that nothing is available until March.  After coming to Symphony Vet for nearly 10 years (even after moving out of the neighborhood), I could not be more disappointed in the level of service provided. read more

If I could get zero stars I would. I have been bringing my dog Blaze to this office for the past 2 years. I brought him in last week for a USDA certificate and exam for travel to Europe. After the exam and reviewing the paperwork with Sarah, I went to the desk to check out. To my surprise the EU certificate fee was increased to $200. I told the guy at the reception I had to check into this because I knew it had always been $100. While I was looking at past invoices in the office I heard Sarah call the front desk to see if I had paid and left your office. He said no he is still here checking something. I think she was hoping I paid and left without questioning her so she called because she knew what she was doing was unfair. I have paid $100 the last 4 times I had this done at their office and I just had this done for $100 back in May with Dr Toll and in the past with Dr. Levison. I asked the reception to ask Sarah why the fee increased and he said the fee increased because of the time it takes to process. All they have to do is print off the forms from the last visit and sign in four places? If their fee for this did increase by double, I should have been sent an email or at the very least told before she started the exam and certificate. It is very unprofessional to tell a customer the fee increased as I am checking out. This place is full of SCAM ARTISTS! To make matters worse Sarah got the vaccination paperwork wrong and put someone else's dog and owner information on the vaccination record paperwork. Therefore, I had to come back after work to get this corrected and had to argue with reception to get it updated. I had to tell her I wouldn't leave until they corrected and got it 5 minutes later. If you are going to double your prices without telling your customers until check out you should at least get the information right on the paperwork and not take 2 hours to just print it off and sign it in four places. I was told to call or email Jillian the Hospital Manager. Her phone number doesn't work and she doesn't return emails. FIND SOMEPLACE ELSE TO TAKE YOUR PET!! I DID! read more

I really want to be fair and objective. The vets are nice but the way in which the clinic approaches care is 100% about the money first. Anytime I call in for just basic advice on my pet it's always about the money i.e booking an appointment first -- nothing can be done without this. I can literally call in and say hey my dog looked at me funny and they'll recommend an appointment. They will not recommend any over the counter treatments or any at home remedies first. I also find it strange that a doctor will never call me to give advice if I have not been seen for an appointment first. A person from the clinic with little knowledge on my situation will always call first and diagnose. If I ask to speak with the vet, I'm promised a call but none will follow. I've only ever heard from the vet after a paid appointment. Go at your own discretion. This is my honest experience. From my experience money = care, always. Really sad to be honest :/ read more

We have been using Symphony Vet Center for a combined 9 years with 4 of our dogs over those years. Even after moving further south in the city, we continue to make the trip up to Symphony and would never consider switching after the excellent care we have received since day one. Our vet is Dr. Venezia and she cares for our two dogs, a Pomeranian named Bear and a Pomsky named Bo. Dr. Venezia has gone above and beyond for our dogs, especially Bear, as he has struggled with CHF and advanced heart disease the last two years. She is kind, honest, professional and extremely knowledgeable, but most of all, she has been a huge source of support and comfort and has helped us countless times in last minute needs for Bear as he copes with his heart condition. She has even stayed late to be sure a medication was able to be picked up that we needed and when he's needed to go to a cardiologist, she has been in touch with them and has always done an excellent job following up after visits regarding both Bo and Bear's care. I will never be able to truly thank her enough for all she's done for us and our fur family. Symphony vet is always helpful in accommodating last minute visits and filling prescriptions promptly, as well as friendly and attentive during visits and even while we're waiting. I suggest them to everyone I know and the consistency in the quality of their care the last 9 years has been truly remarkable. When we moved to the area, we were super sad to be leaving behind a great vet practice in Brooklyn. When our frenchie needed his vaccines and had a possible ear infection, we looked for vets closeby and found Symphony. We were hesitant because of the recent (and negative) reviews, but needed something quick and close. We first saw Dr. Johar and we were pleasantly surprised. She was very thorough, kind, and our Ernie loved her. When we heard that she had left Symphony, we considered looking elsewhere. Miraculously, we found that our original vet in Brooklyn, Dr. Amy Ford, had transferred to Symphony, after having not seen her in TWO years! We are so lucky to have such a friendly, knowledgable, and animal-loving vet back in our lives. If you're looking for a vet and you're unsure about Symphony, give Dr. Ford a shot. You won't be disappointed. She truly cares. Like others have commented, the receptionists are not the friendly or personable people you would assume they would be. A smile and a "Good morning," or "Have a nice day," go a long way. We haven't seen that in our year as patients at Symphony. read more

We have bring our cats to Symphony Vet for nearly 15 years. Our current cat Chloe began eating less and less and seriously losing weight. She dropped from 11lbs to 8lbs. What initially impressed me about Dr. Ledner was how comfortable our skittish cat Chloe was with the vet. Next, Dr. Ledner's examination was thorough and gentle. When the preliminary exam did not reveal any problems, Dr. Ledner suggested an ultrasound, which revealed inflammation of Chloe's bowel. She then prescribed prednisolone, and in a few days Chloe's appetite returned. read more

The last time I visited before my dog died, the place had devolved. It was never really the same after Dr. Campbell left. There were a few good vets after her, but there was a lot of turnover, and no one seemed to stay long who was good. When my dog was in her final decline, after 18 years at the practice, they could not get her in, and I had to go to another vet entirely. I will not be bringing my new dog to this practice, particularly since I heard that they are no longer a local business, but owned by a corporation. read more

I wrote a review of Symphony Vet that I posted on this board a month ago, and while I really appreciated Dr. Bruck's care ($700 worth), I wrote the review too soon, as the problem was not resolved. My 8.5 year old Nesbitt never touched his timothy hay, wickerballs, grape stems; or any "firmer" type of chewy things after his tooth filing. And he stopped eating altogether on Thanksgiving and began salivating, and stinking (as he was unable to clean himself). I took him back into Symphony Vet yesterday and was delighted because Dr. Campbell (whom I've come to believe from her online presence is the 'NYC bunny guru') was working there yesterday. Once again, same issue as last month, Nesbitt had a molar on his lower jaw that was spiked and cutting into his tongue. Once again, he was anesthetized and his teeth were filed. Dr. Campbell wrote up a discharge letter stating that while his tongue heals, he will probably chew on the other side of his mouth and this will further exacerbate asymmetrical grinding of his teeth which may lead him to further complications. She told me, "One woman must've brought her rabbit in 10 times to get this done. I think she was working to pay for her rabbit's teeth!" When I mentioned that my mother has cancer, and I'm not working to capacity because I am trying to care for her as well, and that there must be an alternative to the $350 procedure (which is seeming to happen every month)... I mean, are my options really to either shell out $350 a month to file Nesbitt's teeth or euthanize him? Dr. Campbell said, "Rabbits are fantastic breeders, eaters, and poopers... but they are not meant for longevity" That sorta stung, folks. Here's the way I look at it... rabbit teeth grow like human fingernails... rabbits "buff down" their teeth by chewing things... if something goes wrong with their tooth alignment, it is an owner's responsibility to get the teeth buffed down (not just front teeth trimming, back molars and all) or else the rabbit will stop eating and die. So it is kind of like a "fingernail cut" or death. Nesbitt is normally a happy healthy (all his bloodwork is FINE) rabbit with all sorts of charisma and personality. I have already spent $1000+ on his care, and do NOT have the means to continue shelling out $350+ a month. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A MORE ECONOMICAL SOLUTION IN MANHATTAN FOR RABBIT MOLAR FILING? IF SO, PLEASE CONTACT ME. Oh.. and one last general note that is less bunny related and more "total care" related. I dropped Nesbitt off with his water bowl, as he was parched last time he returned home from his procedure. I explained to Dr Campbell and her tech that Nesbitt does not drink out of bottles, and only drinks out of water bowls (like a dog) so if they could please place a bowl of water in his kennel while he waits for me to pick him up. When they wheeled Nesbitt out, his water bowl was completely dry, and hadn't been used. I said, "OH! You didn't give him water?!?" The tech said, "OF COURSE we gave him water!" I didn't stay to argue, but I know that he wasn't given water in a bowl, and thus was once again parched while waiting for me. Didn't appreciate that very much either. read more

Dr. Muller is the best cat vet we could have possibly asked for--we found her through the Cat Friendly Practices program and are so relieved to have established care with her. She was kind, patient, helpful, and communicative, and clearly very knowledgeable about feline health (she mentioned being a cat owner herself, and it shows!). As a young couple on a fairly tight budget, we also really appreciated her transparency about the cost of diagnostics and treatment; she offered us plenty of options and made sure we had all the information to make the right choices for our little guy. The rest of the staff was also lovely, and the waiting area was clean and spacious and quiet. Would 100% recommend Dr. Muller and Symphony to any cat owner in the area. read more

This is review is for Dr. Muller. She showed so much love and care for my very anxious GSD as he has had bad experiences with other vets before. For the first time, we didn't have to hold him down in order to give him his vaccination. Instead, Dr. Muller suggested just giving him love and scratches and during that time she would slip in his shot. It worked like a charm and my GSD didn't even realize he got poked! I feel a little bad not being more positive here. My dog and I have been going to Symphony on and off for years, and the medical staff is good with both people and animals and the visit fees are generally less than many. And please note: after my most recent experience, of last week, I called them and talked with someone about my concerns, which were heard. My gripe: dental work my dog had done last week. We were there for extractions from a 12 year old dog that suffers from periodontal disease (and somewhat neglectful carers, meaning me and my ex-). When there two months ago, in January, for her annual, they said dental work was critically needed, and we were fine with that. They proposed 8 extractions for between $284 and $568. During the proceedure, a little less than two months later, the vet called to say more teeth needed to come out, I said fine, and the cost of the extractions came to $1,284. (I'm mentioning specifics here because simply saying "twice as much" can feel too fuzzy and sound too much like unwarranted griping.) So, apparently between mid-January and early March, and on closer inspection, they found that four additional teeth needed to go, and they were more expensive to extract than the other teeth. So that was a bit of a pain to encounter. $716 worth. Also, a small gripe here, the estimate did not include the cost of medicines - pain management and an anti-inflammatory, which came to $83.60. Not a huge deal, and I guess they could argue that the meds aren't part of the dental procedure, itself, but it would have been good if they'd mentioned them in the estimate. Which they didn't. Two more things. There was a charge of $670 for "Dental Scaling / Polish - Canine." Apparently it's a standard charge. When I spoke to someone there post-procedure and mentioned that the charge seemed high because there were nearly no teeth left to polish or scale, she said something like, "Well, there are some teeth left, aren't there." Final thing, and this may be a bit of snark and an overlap with how some things are going these days: one of the nice things about them over the years is that they have always answered the phone quickly. Last week, a recording came on that was essentially an advertisement for some service or another. I assumed it was because I was on hold, waited nearly two minutes, and then gave up and called back and it came on again. It went away immediately when I pressed "O", but there was not announcement that pressing "O" would bring you straight to the office. So. It seems that estimates for dental work are always less than the final cost, but this time it felt excessive. The doctors we've had have been good, their rates for visits and bloodwork and stuff are better than many. Still, it feels difficult and disappointing not to trust or be comfortable with a vet that can miss the mark by so much. read more

Very disappointed. I took my chihuahua here for a couple of visits as she was bleeding from her vulva despite having been spayed, and I have finally decided to switch to a different vet. Here are the things that went wrong, chronologically - 1. they tried to collect a urine sample (to test for UTI) by way of cystocentesis, which means sticking a needle through the stomach into the bladder, but didn't succeed because they claimed that my dog didn't have enough pee in her bladder; afterwards, i took my dog out for a walk in the neighborhood where she peed plenty and i ended up collecting the sample myself into a cup. They basically pierced my dog for nothing. 2. As instructed, I called back the next day asking for test results but was told they weren't ready. Over the phone, the male receptionist confirmed that the lab received the sample (before giving me a non-working phone number of the lab and saying that i can call them if i want to). Hours later, I got an email from another doctor saying that THEY LOST THE SAMPLE (while blaming it on the lab) and that i would need to go back with another urine sample. 3. the doctor prescribed antibiotics BEFORE having diagnosed her with any bacterial infection. her test results came back negative, so I now have antibiotics which i paid for that's only going to waste. weirdly, the doctor instructed that i can feed her the antibiotics no matter what because there are no side effects. 4. the doctor did not collect sample for cytology (swabbing the inside of her vulva) despite suspecting ovarian remnant syndrome as a possibility on our initial visit. I was called back for the cytology alone. the doctor was unable to reach a conclusion (and said it looked "suspicious") after looking at the sample under a microscope and recommended sending the sample to a lab. After the lab results came back, the doctor still said it looked "suspicious." 5. before the doctor took the cytology sample, she assured me it was the only test that would be done. then SHE TOOK A BLOOD SAMPLE FROM MY DOG WITHOUT GETTING MY APPROVAL and only told me after the fact. 6. because the cold blood sample is only good for 6 days, my boyfriend called the vet and told them to send it out for testing immediately. they called me twice over the weekend (the number was blocked and showed up as "Unknown" on my phone, so i didn't pick up), leaving voicemails asking for payment information. i called back and was put on hold for a long time before i decided to hang up, assuming that they would go ahead and send the sample to the lab based on the conversation my boyfriend had with them. I called back a couple of days later and learned that they withheld the sample because I never paid. The blood sample is no longer viable for testing. 7. On an unrelated issue, my boyfriend asked the doctor about a small growth on my dog's eyelid. The doctor said it looks ok, and commented that "because she is a chihuahua she will definitely grow something," which made me feel quite uneasy. 8. When I was waiting, I saw another dog come out with bloody paws after a nail trimming session and the dog owner made them take the dog back in to address the bleeding. I will leave it to you guys as to whether any of these happenstances alone constitutes gross negligence or malpractice. All of them combined leave an extremely bitter taste in my mouth. I would certainly not return or recommend this vet to anyone. read more

I've been taking my 3 cats to Symphony Pet since they were adopted as kittens and have always been very satisfied. Today they really topped themselves! Last night I realized one of the cats has a lump under his skin which turned out to be an abscess, probably from play-fighting with the other cats. We showed up there without an appointment and were immediately seen. The cat was clearly in pain and after he was taken out of his carrier, he went ballistic, trashed the exam room and attacked anyone who went anywhere near him. He is an orange tabby and has the mildest manner! I couldn't believe my eyes. Dr Chapman couldn't be more gentle and professional with him. She gave the cat some time to cool down, and sedated him in a fraction of a second. His abscess was cleaned out and he was discharged after receiving pain meds and antibiotics. Front desk and techs were also super supportive and efficient. My cat had an adverse reaction to anesthesia when he was getting neutered years ago, so one of the techs stayed with him and watched him after he got sedated to make sure he was ok. He's now prancing around as if nothing has happened! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. NO COMPASION AT ALL. I called yesterday because it was time for my sweet angel to be put to rest. When I called the person who answered the phone told me they were too busy!!!!!! Wtf. Rude non caring jerks... DO NOT GO HERE. went in yesterday with my dog he hasnt been feeling well. I told the vet (found out she was just filling in for day) what was going on . She suggested blood work which I was fine with. I mentioned he had diarrhea. So we did the blood work and anal gland expression, i paid my bill and left. We walked outside and right away he bad more diarrhea so I went back in and was told maybe it was from anal gland expression (doubtful) and to call if it didnt subside. Well this am I got home from gym and my poor boy was crying he had to go out so bad. I got him outside and he bad explosive diarrhea. I called vet they told me they could get him in at 3 (not ok after telling me yesterday to call if it didnt get better) receptionist spoke to vet said they got blood work back and all was ok however the vet yesterday in my file stated to give me meds for diarrhea (this was news to me) but she FORGOT. FORGOT who forgets! I was livid my poor boy was sick all morning because she forgot! I ran back there in this heat (having to leave my boy alone praying he didnt go all over the house) to get the flagyl. Have to say pretty disappointed. They need to make sure the docs they have there even if per diem follow through on what they write in file. This was so stressful for my pup read more

Please don't go here, the Vet here misdiagnosed my cat, told me my cat was 100% normal which was wrong, the blood test results cearly stated what was wrong, the Vet either never read the blood test or is that incompetent. Had to rush my cat to emergency and the Vet there confirmed he was misdiagosed here. Do not go here!! Also the receptionist is very rude, not worth it, I know it's easy to get here but it will cost your pets life and your wallet in the long run. Run! read more

I brought in my newly adopted cat today because he developed an upper respiratory infection. Making the appointment was easy and the location and appointment times are very convenient. I saw Dr. Teresa Lucibello who examined my cat. She did an amazing job during the examination, clearly explaining what was happening and the best course of action for treatment, as well as providing advice about what to do along the way if other symptoms develop or worsen. Dr. Lucibello interacted amazingly with my cat (who seemed to love her, even though the shelter warned he does not behave well during medical exams!). Never go here! I took my cat here a few years ago because she stopped eating and was vomiting. They did an x-ray and the doctor completely missed what was wrong. She was declining very fast and I had to bring her back in and I wanted answers. Dr. Campbell is the worst and said I may have to put my cat to sleep. Turns out she ate a toy and needed surgery right away. They told us they couldn't do surgery there. Luckily it was treatable and she got her surgery at Blue Pearl. I will never go back to Symphony Vet. They have no clue what they are doing. Thank God my cat is now happy and healthy. read more

My Bailey passed away on August 27, 2016 at the age of 18. The fact that he lived that long was due to the excellent care he received for 15 years from the wonderful people at Symphony Vet Center. Drs. Campbell and Levison took good care of my little poodle through Addison's disease, dental problems, painful arthritis, ear infections, and a host of infections, colds, and so on. My Bailey was not the best patient, he'd often greet the Drs. with a bite or a snarl, as he was rescue who was abused before I adopted him. In fact, it was Dr. Campbell who told me he had been abused, and saved his life by diagnosing Addison's 3 months after Bailey came to live with me. The great technicians at Symphony diligently gave Bailey the shots he detested, and never once complained about him, always saying Bailey behaved perfectly, even though I knew that he was a cranky and snappish patient. They always treated him gently, with kindness and a loving touch. I have always been grateful for the considerate and gentle treatment Bailey received. Dr. Levison tended to Bailey in his later years, always answered my emails or calls, and there were many of them. She always took the time to care about Bailey as if he was her only patient. After he passed, she petted him, and told me how glad she was to be able to pet him now, because he wouldn't let anyone touch him without a muzzle before, given how much pain he was in. And the lovely reception staff always found a way to squeeze Bailey in for an emergency appointment, no matter how busy they were. Each and every person asked after him, and shouted a goodbye at Bailey as he made a beeline for the exit after his visit. A few of them cried with me when I told them he had passed, and many listened patiently as I cried on the phone. I have many wonderful memories of Bailey to comfort me in the next several difficult months. But my best memories will include those of the dozens of office visits with Bailey at Symphony. I'm going to predicate this review by saying that I realize it's an outlier--and quite possibly the lowest rating ever posted here for Symphony. All I can say is that this was *my experience* and I gave them a fair shot--ten years in fact. REASONS: --They handled the terminal diagnosis of my late cat with insensitivity and in poor form. --Dental work done there on my other cat over the course of several years was, as recent x-rays established, done very poorly and contributed to a chronic gum condition. --Their rates are, as most everyone says, out of line. HISTORY: I was a client at Symphony since 2003, when I adopted my two cats. I left there in late 2013, when Eydie was diagnosed with an inoperable abdominal tumor. In between, I spared no expense on regular check-ups, x-rays and several dental procedures for both cats, on the premise that it's never too much if it means they're healthy and happy. DR LEVISON: All in all, I found her to be pleasant and knowledgeable. However I was saddened and disappointed by her handling of Eydie's terminal illness. The final results came back while she was on vacation, and a very sweet associate handled it. However Dr. Levison didn't so much as send me an email of concern, let alone reach out with a phone call. Some may find this an unfair judgment, but I had been going there with Eydie for a decade. She was her only doctor. Wow. WHY I LEFT: On the day of Eydie's ultrasound and xray, I was required to pay a "75% deposit" before the procedure. That's not only ludicrous, it's tasteless and insulting, especially given my loyal patronage. What it tells me is that they want as much money upfront as possible, in case the news is bad and the client doesn't want to pay. Once it was over and I was told she was going to die, I sat in the "bus station waiting room" for over 20 minutes, waiting for them to bring her out. Once I finally went to the desk, they said "Oh yes, you have a balance due." Classy, kids, classy. DENTAL INCOMPETENCE: Steve had several teeth removed in dental procedures over the years. Recently, when he was experiencing behavior issues with my new cat, I had him checked out. A dental x-ray--quite possibly his first--established that there was a great deal of root matter left in his gums from previous extractions, and that it was causing great pain and discomfort, and retarding the reformation of the gum tissue. He had extensive surgery. Now he is once again happy, healthy and really well adjusted. At no point during those previous procedures was I shown an x-ray, whereas at his current vet, I was given an entire printed report including photos and x-rays, with explanations. That's professional. Both of my cats are now going to Gotham Vet Center, which was recommended to me several years ago by a close friend. It's team, including Dr. Bonnie Brown, Dr. Kwan, and dentist Patricia Dominguez are not only experts, but also wonderful at working with their clients and patients. It's a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience for Steve during his dental surgery. I didn't doubt them for a moment. Again, it's rare when I have a negative review of a business that's in such a minority. But I felt I needed to put this one on the record. read more

We just had our first visit with our two kittens there yesterday. If they took humans, I would go there. Scheduling is very easy and they have many options for whatever your work schedule. The receptionists were very friendly, and I was able to speak with a Dr. before the first visit just to clarify a few things- I called and they said she would call me back, and (unusual in this day and age) she called me back promptly! Dr. M did a very thorough exam on our miserable kittens (rescue's with lots wrong with them...) and was very gentle and patient. I never felt rushed, I was able ot ask a lot of questions and she asked a lot from me. They did a thorough workup on our little guys and got us on a treatment plan my wife and I could agree with. She didn't recommend anything strange or seemingly unnecessary. She followed up our visit with a phone call in the evening, I responded with an email to her which she responded to as well. I guess you can say we have been utterly floored by the professionalism and organization of Symphony Vet because we had such an unimpressive experience at our previous. Now one thing to mention- when it comes time to pay your bill, you better be ready. This place is not cheap, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for and we would not change a thing about Symphony. read more

I have been bringing my dog to Symphony Vet for several years, and even after I moved out of the neighborhood I've continued to use them. Symphony provides extended (in my opinion) hours, staying open until 7:00 p.m. on weekdays and until at least 3:00 p.m. on the weekends. My appointments always start on time and are quick and to the point, which really feels more efficient than it does rushed, because all of my questions always get answered. The staff consists of several doctors, and I've seen at least two of them. Everyone has been competent and kind, but I've had the most experience with Dr. Levison who is extremely patient and responsive. I appreciate that she doesn't speak to me like I'm an idiot, but also explains everything in layman's terms. I think that's a fine line that some doctors have trouble walking. read more

Phenomenal vet on the UWS. After going to Animal General for years, and - while satisfied with the care - hating the experience, I asked around for recommended vets. Symphony came up more than others. So far, they've been fantastic. Vets seem to really know what they're doing, and are far less rushed and impersonal than many of the other multi-vet practices. In fact, the whole place just has a far less chaotic and uncomfortable vibe than the others in the neighborhood. It feels like some good thought was actually given to the customer experience. Of course, the medicine is the priority, and everything they've done to my dog so far has been great. The vets themselves generously take phone calls and respond to emails, which I think is unusual, and very welcome. My dog's happy to go, and I actually think the cost isn't that bad compared to the other vets I've been to. Like Animal General, it seems that there's a whole new set of vets there, but so far, I've been very pleased. read more

Anyone who has a bunny knows how important it is to find a rabbit-savvy vet who understands how to identify and treat medical conditions that rabbits are especially susceptible to. I found Dr. Campbell through the House Rabbit Society seven years ago, and I am so happy I did. Dr. Campbell is extremely knowledgeable and straightforward, and she takes time during the visit not only to diagnose the problem, but also to explain how the condition develops and the options for treatment. Several months ago, when I brought my bun, Jimmy, in for a sinus infection, she pulled out a model of a rabbit skull to show me how the structure of rabbit sinuses makes them particularly vulnerable to chronic infection. She also worked closely with me to find the most effective treatment possible. On one of our first visits, she made a list of things I should have on hand in the event of gastrointestinal stasis, another potentially fatal condition that is fairly common in rabbits. This list has come in handy on several occasions over the years, helping me relieve Jimmy's distress, get the blockage moving, and possibly save his life. On a couple occasions when Dr. Campbell wasn't available, we have seen Dr. Levison, another excellent rabbit-savvy vet. Just last week, I brought JImmy in with an unusually stubborn case of stasis. Dr. Levison came in, asked how his sinuses were doing, having clearly reviewed his medical history, and proceeded to quickly determine a course of action. It had been a stressful day, but her friendly, confident approach and obvious awareness of Jimmy's medical history and age, made me (and ultimately Jimmy) feel much better. As for the center in general, the facilities are clean and current, and the appointments start on time. The cost of services seems to be about average for NYC, but entirely fair considering the quality of care and resulting peace of mind. And, honestly, when my rabbit needs help, the bill is the last thing I'm worried about. When your animal is in distress, it is especially important to feel that the doctors and staff are knowledgeable, competent and compassionate. In my experience with Symphony Vet Center, everyone - from the front desk to the vet techs to the doctors - has been friendly, welcoming, patient and exceedingly proficient at his or her job. I recommend Symphony Vet Center at every opportunity. read more

I took my dog here when my regular vet was closed and we couldn't wait the few days for the office to re-open. The office is new, clean, and they were right on time with my appointment. The vet was friendly and competent with my dog. I was extremely appreciative of them fitting him in even though he wasn't their patient and it was totally last minute. And then it came time to check out and I looked at my bill. Over $200 for approximately a 5-minute exam, a fecal test, and some meds (which were only $7). They charge $85 for an office visit and an additional $100+ for 2 fecal tests without asking me if I wanted them done. I was horrified and quickly remembered why I love my regular vet (Cathedral Dog and Cat Hospital), who may be a bit old school, but spends an hour with my dog and gives discounts to students/teachers/artists/firemen/ and pretty much everybody with eyeballs. Pros: clean office, technological, on time, competent, accommodating Cons: extremely expensive, didn't ask before running expensive test, and spent very little time with me and my dog If you can afford it, I think this place is great. If money is tight, go elsewhere for equally good care. read more

I took my Pomeranian puppy, Bigi here to get his weekly cast change. I was very nervous because I know Bigi is very shy and unsure about new people. We saw Doctor Coral. I really appreciated being in the examination room to check his weight, heart beat, and palpation. She genuinely cared about Bigi and took him into the back to put on his new cast. I heard him squealing in there as he is very vocal, but I knew he was in good hands. She brought him out a few minutes later and I was very happy. Thank you, Doctor Coral! Dr. Levison is a great vet. I've seen her a few times for health issues with my cat. She's been incredibly helpful, and any time I have a question I just shoot her an email and she always gets back to me right away. It's nice to have a vet you can rely on. Also, every time I've had an appointment, they see us right away, no wait in the waiting room (which makes it quick and less stressful on your pet). Everything is clean and the staff is very professional. Highly recommended! read more
