First of all... having dealt with back pain most of my adult life, I have been to numerous chiropractors since moving to Los Angeles some twenty plus years ago....none of which have seemed to help in terms of long lasting relief. I was referred to Syn chiropractic and was immediately impressed. After having xrays taken, and nerve scans done, I was astonished to see that I have a "question mark" for a spine. How could I have not been told about this years earlier. I was put on a treatment program right away for severe Lumbar Scoliosis. There are several techniques utilized at this office other than your usual "release" method including massage therapy, posture pumps, etc. After the first few visits I quickly noticed vast improvements, I no longer moved around like a feeble human being. I wasn't grabbing a hold of anything that would hold me up just to walk. I lead a very active lifestyle which includes: mountain biking, gym visits, golf, and sportbike riding. Having much less pain now has helped me obtain a portion of this lifestyle back due to me still being in the middle of my treatment program. This is long, so take a deep breathe. I have so much to say in gratitude. First off, let me say that I am utterly satisfied....overjoyed really, with the results of my treatments by Dr. Grace Syn. She is the MOST thorough chiropractor I've ever been treated by. She adjusts my spine, knees, feet and wrists on multiple planes (front to back, side to side and twisting/torquing). She asks about my overall health and sleep patterns. Everything is science-based, not some hokey lets shine a laser on it and the molecules will re-align (seriously, I've had that kind of treatment). Now more about why I'm so satisfied. I've been treated by many chiropractors in my adult life, some for direct injuries, others for general maintenance of my spine (I've often had very demanding physical jobs). And I've generally benefited from the adjustments somewhat. Sometimes I felt like there was more to be done, but there were limits to what the particular doctor knew. I've had chronic back pain for many years...my whole back - cervical, thoracic and lumbar areas. Back spasms (sometimes I thought I would crash my car because this often happened while driving) with shooting pain, limping around bent over whenever I first get up from sitting. I suppose I had resigned myself to the thought that I was just "old", too much hard work and hard play had resulted in this "old", worn out me complete with the forward head tilt, bent over posture. Ugh. Full disclosure, I'm 57. But isn't that the new 40? I often felt like 70 instead. I chanced to visit a health fair in Torrance where Dr Syn had a booth that offered an initial assessment. There was a contraption that had horizontal wires that you stand up against and then she'd line up the wire with your shoulders and hips, right and left sides, so when you step away, you could see if your spine was "level", aligned. Well, I was shocked to see just how crooked I was. One tilting up the other the opposite direction. Cut to the chase, I set up an appointment, x-rays were taken and lo and behold I had scoliosis with an s-shaped spine, not front to back, but side to side. I had fallen a year before, and I'm sure my muscles had pulled my spine away from the injured side and then further up had pulled in the opposite direction. I was in tears seeing the awful condition of my body. And the side view showed vertebrae with almost no space between them, pinching nerves...hence my spasms. I felt more defeated. But she said that seeing is understanding and believing that the treatments are indeed working, that the spine is aligning. And that follow up x-rays and nerve scans would be taken periodically throughout the treatment series. She looked at the vertebrae for signs of deterioration, calcification, fusing. This allowed her to assess what kind of results I could expect from a rigorous treatment plan. She said it was not beyond the point of no-return. We could in fact turn it around, if not totally, pretty darn close. But I had to commit to regular visits and doing the stretching and strengthening exercises at home. We set up a payment plan because this wasn't an overnight fix and my insurance doesn't cover chiropractic. I'd have to commit to coming in often for adjustments, convincing the muscles to allow the vertebrae to stay in the proper position once the adjustment is made. Now I'm happy to say, my spine is pretty straight!! I was astonished!!! Flabbergasted. The last x-rays showed a pretty darn straight spine. A tiny bit off in the hips, but continued stretching and maintenance visits will keep me on the path to a healthy body. Early in my treatments I found that I had grown an inch!!!! Wowza! On some level I didn't think it could happen that fast, but I was committed to the exercises at home and the regularity of the visits. Two weeks ago I did a 25 mile road cycling ride with my cycling team (they hadn't seen me in about 1 1/2 years), the following weekend an 8 mile hike (lots of steep inclines) and I've run twice...all this I thought I'd never do again. Hard to hold myself back, but now I'm on my way to a healthier future, this time paying much more attention to my body and how to move it without pain. I had a pretty bad car accident back in 2010. I did therapies and treatment but didn't quite follow up with the recommendations. I wish I could adequately express my gratitude to Dr. Syn for the life changing treatments I have received from her. When I first went to her Wellness Center I was in pain, out of shape and felt bad pretty much every day. Because I had always been an active individual the limitations to my life were almost unbearable. Dr. Syn uses her vast knowledge of nutrition and spine care to get to the cause of the problem rather than merely treat symptoms. She is thorough and methodical in her diagnosis and gives her patients more information than any physician that I have ever seen. Dr. Syn is very knowledgeable about wellness and nutrition. Unfortunately, I went to Dr. Syn for 8 weeks and spent $2,400 on chiropractic adjustments with no noticeable improvement in my lower back pain. The massage therapy (which cost an additional $600) did help but after spending $3,000 and getting 3 adjustments a week I expected more improvement. I was expecting more from the treatment given the time I spent on the spine exercises, the frequency of the adjustments and the cost. read more

I have been going to Dr. Syn for over a year now, and really can't say enough about the treatment I've received. About a year ago, I was in pretty bad shape and in need of a chiropractor close to my home. As a quick synopsis, I had been in two pretty severe car crashes over the past two years before I saw Dr. Syn. I had received chiropractic care, as well as physical therapy, and had thought I was pretty much back to normal (excluding some lumbar pain, which I just assumed was as good as it could get) until one day, when I decided to start in on exercising again...I did a 10 minute slow jog, and came home in excruciating back pain. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Syn, and I will always be eternally grateful to her for that. Dr. Syn is very unique compared to other chiropractors I've seen. She places more emphasis on the quantitative aspect of care. What I mean by that is there are tests that are done before treatment ever begins to assess exactly what the issues are, and there are tests done throughout treatment to determine if the methods are providing the intended results. I love this because I can actually SEE for myself (not just think in my head that I'm better) that corrections are occurring. When I first came to see her, she took x-rays of my spine, and I was shocked to find I had scoliosis. But it was plain as day. A big "s-shaped" spine, and pain as its companion. Today, that "s" is almost entirely resolved, and I have been able to see it for myself with the follow up x-rays she's taken. Oh, and, by the way, I now am running almost every day.... with no pain. In addition to this, Dr. Syn has extensive knowledge in nutrition and naturopathic treatments for, it seems, basically everything know to man. I've learned a lot, and she has actually been able to treat some medical conditions I've been struggling with for years. I had an online deal voucher to use and rather than harass me for just wanting a good deal (which I find a lot of people do for some reason), I was treated with courtesy and shocked by the absolutely serene office, extremely kind employees (including the doctor herself) and uber impressed with the knowledge and skill of the massage therapist I saw (Brian)! I went just to get a massage and haven't had very good massages since I moved to CA 4 years ago and was just so impressed. This is the very FIRST therapist I had who knew what he was doing!! Dr Syn is an amazing chiropractor--the best! I was suffering from high stress and as a result, I had bad acid reflux that no medication could relieve. Dr Syn discovered I have lateral scoliosis, which most likely I've had since childhood but went undiagnosed. The areas of my spine affected by the scoliosis were in direct correlation with high stress, stomach problems and infertility, which I've struggled with. After 6 months, under Dr Syn's treatment, my stress level was way down and my acid reflux disappeared. I also ended up getting pregnant thanks to Dr Syn's spine/hip/pelvic adjustments. I bought a Groupon for a 60 min swedish massage for $29. The massage by Alejandra was excellent (thus the 3 star rating) and I would have come back to her for future massages and would have been open to their chiropractor services as well since I have been on the lookout for a chiropractor. Unfortunately, I was turned off by the fact that they did not honor the full hour of massage. My appointment was at 10am for 60 minutes, but Alejandra ("Alex") ended it at 10:55. Since I was a couple minutes late and had to fill out the required paperwork first, we got to the massage room at 10:10 and started the actual massage around 10:12 according to the large display digital clock in the massage room. I was surprised to see that she had ended at 10:55, which means that I only received a 43 min massage. When I asked her about it, at first she denied it. Then when I reiterated that that was, in fact what happened, she explained by saying that I walked in late and she can't go over in time because there was someone else waiting for her. Granted I came in a couple of minutes late and took a few minutes to fill out the required paperwork, but that doesn't explain why my massage was finished 5 minutes before time. Nor did I see anyone waiting in the lobby for their 11am appt. If the goal of doing groupons is to increase their clientele, they should treat each one as if they paid full price instead of shortchanging them. read more

I can only say great things about Dr. Syn and her staff. I was having debilitating headaches daily to the point where I could no longer work or even do simple tasks. I felt helpless after going doctor to doctor. All they did was prescribe pain meds and my headaches only got worse. I was tired all the time and I started experiencing some depression. I started seeing Dr. Syn and within a week of care, 5 days, my headaches improved significantly! I would still have one or two in the beginning but the intensity had lessened drastically. Ive been going for five months now and my life has improved in ways I never thought possible. I just love to get my adjustments at this office. Dr Bates is the best. When I first went in I was in quite a bit of discomfort. After several treatments i was feeling back to normal with little or no back and neck pain. I have continued to see Dr. Bates periodically to keep my spine and neck in the good shape. The massage therapist is also very good. Sometimes I will first get a massage to relax ...and the adjustment after that, is even better then. I was referred to Dr. Syn earlier this year by a good friend. He is VERY picky and if he recommends someone, they are usually quite good. My main issue was my left shoulder had lost a lot of its mobility and flexibility. Not a huge deal, but I couldn't play certain sports with my 2 boys! I may be 50 but I refuse to let my shoulder ruin my time with them. Before long, Dr. Syn and her associate Dr. Bates got my should to about 90% of normal. This is just a review for their massage services. Like to get weekly massages and have been able to try out the different places using the various coupons/groupons. Got a massage using a $29 voucher from Amazon local. Nice location one block from beach. In an office building with free underground parking. Nice reception area and massage rooms are large and nicely furnished. Massage was great. There website has no information on the regular hourly rates for massage. Decided to post this since this would be useful information for others. Their rate is $90 for the hour and $50 for 30 minutes. They seem to have coupons on a regular basis but it is only good for new clients. Unfortunately with so many massage places that offer the same service for much less I can only offer an ok rating. Should also mention they do push their chiropractic service and was offered their reduced rate for an X-ray and initial consultation several times even though I mentioned I really did not have any pain issues. read more

From January to May 2015, I experienced some of the worst back pain I ever had. I was unable to sit without pain and any movement was limited and painful. As a drummer this was devastating!
