I came here after being referred by a dentist in Palm Desert. The dentist said my tooth needed root canal treatment, but since it was my second root canal treatment, I had to see a specialist to determine whether it was possible. Synergy Endodontics, the specialist, said "root canal treatment is possible." The quote was about $1,000. It seemed like a standard price. However, there were a few things I wasn't happy with, so I went to Los Angeles to see my old dentist and had him look at the tooth scheduled for root canal treatment. The Los Angeles dentist told me, "There's nothing wrong with this tooth." "The crown is a little loose and moving, so there's some inflammation in the gums, but the tooth itself is completely fine." "It will heal quickly once the crown is removed." Two days after the crown was removed, I'm completely pain-free! So... what was that $1,000 quote from Synergy Endodontics? I was referred here by my dentist for a consult for possible root canal (tooth sensitivity after a crown.) I was scheduled with David Berrios, DDS. During the consultation, he explained everything clearly and precisely, gave me the pros and cons of waiting or having the root canal done sooner than later, and I decided to go ahead and do it on the sooner side of things. He just so happened to have a cancellation for the very next day. The procedure itself took a little longer than expected because of long roots and congestion in one, but everything went smoothly was absolutely painless. I must also mention that Dr. Berrios, along with his expertise, has a very calm confident nature and a very pleasant speaking voice when talking to /asking for things from the assistant .. which all go far when you could be on the anxious side having a root canal. I went to this office for a root canal " evaluation " The Dr I met with was great, the cray and ct scan techs were both very friendly and nove. The Dr assiatant gor the actual root canal was awesome . Thr dentist that did the root canal was David li D.M.D. I was so happy they were able to do the root canal the same day due to my busy sched. When they finished I paid $2000 plus to the front desk gal ( who was not friendly at all) amd asked ifbi vould go back in to use the restroom real quickly. She directed me to a red key and told me to go down the hallway ???? I thoughtbthis was strange as I had already used the restroom in their office. The reatroom was horrible and filthy. When I wentbto return the key I qsked the receptionist.... kust out of curiosity why was I aent to a building reatroom instead of the office one ? Her reply was the one here is only for patients!! I had a root canal last night at Synergy Endodontics with Dr. Berrios. The office was great before the procedure and during the consultation they were very clear, accommodating and efficient. For the actual procedure, everything went well here!!! Dr. Berrios was incredibly thorough and you could just tell he was a master at his art. I give an A++ for the overall experience here including consultation and procedure. Great experience working with these folks. I would suggest going there to see if they can help, what really sold me on "who these people are" is one man who came in with a shattered tooth, they went out of their way to help him last minute and. This is an update to my previous review of Synergy Endodontics. I am updating my review because I feel it is important to demonstrate how treatment for an abscessed tooth should really go. As indicated in my first review, I went to Synergy Endodontics for treatment of an abscessed tooth. I was referred to them by Mountainside Dental Group. During my consultation, x-rays were taken and I met with who I assume was a doctor there. This doctor informed me he would need to look further at my x-rays and get back with me in a day or two. This consultation was on July 5, 2023. I never heard back from Synergy or anyone at their office. After two weeks, I had given up on them. If they can't bother taking the time to report back to a patient in a timely manner, I certainly did not want them yanking a tooth from my mouth. In the meantime, I continued to suffer from toothaches and severe headaches. On August 1, 2023, I went to Rancho Mirage Dental Group to have my tooth looked at. I had x-rays taken of the abscessed tooth and met with the dentist right after. Within 3 minutes of viewing my x-ray, she informed me my tooth was fractured and needed to be extracted quickly. She informed me the infection in the tooth was large and it was imperative I get it pulled ASAP. Within a few days of my diagnosis at Rancho Mirage Dental Group, I was back in their office getting my tooth extracted. The endodontist informed me that my tooth was severely fractured and had actually split in half. Pic attached (Warning: Not for the faint of heart). He also informed me the gum area was very infected and it was a good thing it was being extracted immediately. Being new to the world of abscessed teeth, I did not know much about them. I have since learned they can be quite dangerous, and life-threatening if left untreated. How a doctor at Synergy could look at my x-rays and not immediately diagnose my tooth as fractured, is beyond me. Instead, they seemed more set on getting me out of their office and onto a more profitable patient. I wasn't in the dental chair at Synergy for more than 3-5 minutes before I was being escorted out the door. This brings me to why I am updating my review. I did not realize how serious an abscessed tooth can be. The tooth needed to be pulled in order for the infection to go away. If it isn't, the infection can spread and really cause a person severe medical issues. Treatment with anti-biotics will not make the infection go away. So, extraction was my only option. Why these so-called professionals at Synergy could not take the time to properly consult with me or follow-up on such a serious issue, is very concerning. So I want to just relay my fact-based experience with them. Fellow-Yelpers can make their own decision on whether to seek treatment from them. I am not a disgruntled Yelper. In fact, most of my reviews are positive. However, when it comes to medical and dental treatment, hiding important facts such as in my experience, doesn't do anyone good. I had to reduce my original review down from 2 stars to 1. Why? Because after finding out the seriousness of my infection issue and how easily and expeditiously it could have been treated, I don't think Synergy deserves 2 stars. I am being generous with 1. Since I had my tooth extracted a few weeks back, I do not suffer from tooth aches or headaches anymore. My life has finally started to get back to normal. Thanks to RANCHO MIRAGE DENTAL GROUP. Moral of the story is if your looking for good dental and specialist treatment, go to RANCHO MIRAGE DENTAL GROUP. Avoid Synergy! read more

I was impressed with my initial appointment. Dr. Li took a CT of my teeth. He said he would call later with the results. NO call. I called the next day and asked about my results. Office staff said that I was already scheduled for a root canal. Office staff said I would receive a text as to date and time. A few days later I received 2 text message stating my appointment was March 6 @ 6:30 a.m. i confirmed by text. I show up at my appointment and wait until 7 a.m. no on shows by this time I am fuming. At. 8:10 I receive a txt stating I have no appointment. I call the office and do not get a very satisfactory explanation. I will contact my referring dentist. I am still fuming!!! read more

Dr. Lee has performed three root canals on me over the years. All 3 went perfect. However, Dr. Lee needs to work on his bedside manners. On the last root canal I wasn't demonstrating enough pain to meet his requirements so he wanted me to see an ENT doc to see if there was something else that might need attention. YOU DO NOT TELL A DENTAL PATIENT THAT HE MAVE HAVE CANCER. YOU TELL HIM THAT 'HE MAY HAVE AN UNDERLYING CONDITION.' YOU DON'T FRIGHTEN THE CRAP OUT OF HIM LIKE THAT. All he had to do was tell me he wanted me to be re-evaluated by my family doctor and referred to an ENT specialist. I knew I didn't have cancer, my doctor knew I didn't have cancer, and my ENT knew I didn't have cancer after my exam, yet I spent three days in terrible despair until these evaluations were complete. During my last office visit he suggested that we do a CAT scan of my mouth. I asked him why it was necessary since we had just done one two weeks earlier, which cost me $175 out of pocket. He acknowledged that it probably wasn't necessary. The only thing I can glean from this is that he was trying to get additional money out of me for needless testing The staff knew that I had two joint replacements that required pre-meds, yet on all three of my visits none of them made sure that I had taken my premeds before being seen by the doctor. Never again. I will find another endodontist in the future. read more

I was impressed that I was able to have the root canal done late on a Friday afternoon. Dr. Berrios was very professional and caring. However, he told me that a prescription for pain medication had been sent to my pharmacy, and the pharmacy never received it. I called the after-hours contact number for Dr. Berrios and left a message about the prescription, but my call was not returned. Also, I was told that a report would be sent to my referring dentist, but my dentist never received it. read more

My dentist and my doctor both said I needed a root canal. I called around, and these folks were on everyone's list of best endodontists. That didn't prevent me from being stressed on the way there! I'd never had a root canal before, but I'd always heard it described as being somewhere between meeting the in-laws for the first time, and passing a kidney stone. But when I got there, the friendly staff and relaxed environment did a lot to calm me down. Then a great thing happened: the doctor told me he did not think I was a good candidate for the root canal, because it probably would not help much. In other words, he turned down getting money in favor of what was in my best interest. And he explained (very clearly) his rationale. The staff at Synergy is outstanding the office is new and modern the dental surgeon dr. JungLim is Young and articulate and is educated on all the new techniques and equipment of the modern era. I was extremely impressed how thorough and precise he is on his dental surgery. The staff very friendly very helpful great location . And I had a choice of music to listen to while the surgery was being performed of course I chose classic rock. Do you know a root canal specialist? I didn't either, so I'm sooo glad I found Synergy Dental Specialties. The dental office is in a medical building on a small street off of Highway 111 and Portola Ave. The office is immaculate, hi-tech and the receptionists and medical staff are knowledgeable. There are 2 doctors in this office and I saw Dr. Li. He was patient in answering all of my questions and my procedure was prompt and painless. I was impressed at how the dental assistant was so attentive with that suction device so I never had to "drown" in my own saliva. Another notable mention is how Dr. Li used a mouth-guard to protect anything from going into my throat. The cleanliness of the office, attentiveness of the staff and expertise of the doctor all exceeded my expectations. We need an office like this in LA.
