I would give more stars to this company if I could! My elderly mom had a knee replacement surgery…read morethat ended up being really tough to recover from and things quickly got over my head. I called Brett Sanders at Assisting Hands and he had someone at my house that afternoon to assess my Mom's needs and a caretaker showed up the next morning. Truly wonderful people who treated my Mom like gold! I'm so thankful for everything they did for us! Highly recommend!!!

My wife and I were directed to Assisting Hands by a family friend and we were very pleased. Working…read morewith Brett, Jane, Eileen, and the rest of the team from Assisting Hands was great. One of my greatest concerns, based on interactions with a previous care provider, was lack of effective communication. I brought this up to Brett and his team during our initial meeting and he ensured me there would be plenty of communication. Brett and his team kept my wife and informed of all significant actions, and some not-so-significant actions, and it really put us at ease. Our previous care provider would often send me text messages asking how to do this or that for my mom. Assisting Hands, on the other hand, would provide me with notification when an important event like a doctor's appointment had been completed. I was thoroughly impressed with the genuine care and the professionalism from the management team, and I was equally impressed with the caregiver Assisting Hands provided. As our business relationship with Assisting Hands concluded (mom moved into memory care) I made sure to relay to Brett and his that my wife and I couldn't thank them enough for coming to our rescue when we needed it most. Brett and his team allowed my wife and me some much needed relief. I recommend Brett and Assisting Hands to anyone in Northern Virginia area.

Thanks to all for the outstanding care you provided my mother recently…read more A sincere thanks to Matthew Barton for managing her care and meticulously addressing all her needs, to Michelle, Elizabeth, Barry, Rick, Kim, Ada, Amina, Paula, Jeanne, Josanna, a heartfelt thanks for providing such compassionate and attentive care, to Julia (chaplin) and Sherry (social work), and countless volunteers thanks for your support and efforts to provide comfort. If I left off someone's name, it is not because your efforts went unnoticed. I knew that my mom was in the best hands and place possible. She passed away without pain and anxiety and with dignity. How fortunate she was to be at Halquist.

My family recently used this hospice company for my father, and unfortunately, our experience was…read moredisappointing. The admission process started well. The representative who met me at the hospital was kind, informative, and clearly explained the hospice services. However, things became much more difficult once my father was discharged home on a Friday afternoon. Although he arrived home around 2:30 PM, no hospice nurse came until approximately 9:00 PM that evening. During those critical first hours, we had very little medication or medical supplies and felt completely unsupported. I called multiple times throughout the day trying to find out when someone would arrive, but the only number provided connected me to a nurse hotline. While the nurses were helpful and compassionate, they had no information about scheduling and could only tell us that someone would come "at some point" that day. When the nurse finally arrived, she was kind and did her best to help, but she came without basic supplies such as a thermometer and alcohol pads and had to ask us if we had them available. Throughout my father's time in hospice, we never felt that we had a dedicated nurse or a consistent point of contact. The hotline nurses were helpful in guiding us on medications and comfort measures, but we often felt lost and uncertain about what to expect. We were also disappointed that no social worker or other support team member was available to help us during this difficult time. I understand that my father was admitted on a weekend, but hospice patients and their families need support seven days a week, especially during the first days after discharge from the hospital. While the individual staff members we encountered were caring and tried their best, the overall coordination, communication, and support fell far short of what we expected from hospice care
