As we are both in our late 70's, we determined that some in-home weekly assistance would be needed. Relying on Yelp reviews we contacted San Diego Home Caregivers and met with the owner Sterling Miles. It was clear from the start that finding the right caregiver and meeting all of Mom's needs was his top priority. He even gave us information on other options in case his services might not meet our needs. He is genuine in his concern and commitment to providing top level care. We could not have been more impressed when we met Mom's new caregiver Jasmine. Her cheerful, warm personality was a perfect fit, and Mom was immediately comfortable with her. She went out of her way to not only care for Mom but to also help us in any way she could. Unfortunately, by the end of January Mom was at the end stage of her life. Because she was so comfortable with Jasmine, we had her continue to come even though Mom also had Hospice care by that time. As 20 family members came to say their goodbyes over the final two weeks, they were also very impressed with how caring Jasmine was and how much Mom appreciated having her there. They often don't have or don't read the instructions provided to them and miss basic but very important things like giving medication. Kira began with an in-home observation and her assessment was an accurate reflection of my Mom's current condition and her likes and dislikes. Upon first meet Ana was kind, professional, sweet and full of knowledge about the (ALW) Assisted Living Waiver program and about the staff, the entire aspects of the Gardens. My mom had worked there for about 35 years and they welcomed her back as a resident with open arms. Ana always was there to answer questions quick to respond on emails and calls. I did look at other properties in San Diego and they looked and felt like dorms or prison not to match the price. The Gardens had the lowest price for the best clean rooms and staff, the caregivers are very nice always there when needed. The Gardens felt like Family Ana made us feel like family. My mom is happy and safe. My 2 concerns: 1: with the wait staff and servers most of then were nice and friendly but a handful were always grumpy and just not professional.. They are not quick to see if someone comes in to eat and take there order or even clear the tables so other people can come in and sit. Note: I saw a server not on break in the kitchen area just eating chocolate Ice Cream, I thought Really!!!! 2: They need better activities all day even if only a handful of people are there: Example when they go in trips they should have something going on if you don't go. Give insulin at breakfast table? And meds too no privacy when I was here nutritionist on staff served pork in some manner or another 3 times a week(to diabetics)surly waiters ran out of English muffins for breakfast but always always had icecream! Disparity of dining rooms Cold eggs! Big dining room had the better food never met with a nutritionist ever! Had salad bar smaller dining room had small wilted salads
