While entering into escrow on a "new" (used) home with a pool and spa that looked beautiful, we nonetheless needed to have both water features inspected. The very-thorough inspection revealed some big-ticket repairs (new underwater lights) as well as some minor ones that we wouldn't have guessed from the water's pristine appearance--i.e., the pool needed a chlorine "shock" and mustard algae treatment to bring the water back up to snuff. I was very impressed by John and his work. We had an in-ground pool/hot tub inspected on a house we are under contract for. I am a would be first time home owner who has never lived in a place with a pool. This particular pool had a decking with a lot of concrete movement which raised some red flags for us. John was able to explain the defects and remedies for many issues with the pool, ranging from minor things like a self closing latch that wasn't functioning, all the way to an expensive concrete and tile repair. I felt like he looked in every nook and cranny except for things under the concrete (like the drainage). This attention to detail was especially helpful in getting us to identify things like algae in the seems of a light fixture. He wasn't in a big rush or trying to get on to his next job. We felt like he was a really good dude who wanted us to enjoy our pool and feel confident in our understanding of its operation and maintenance. He got us more excited about our pool, and gave us confidence in its maintenance. The report he gave us afterwards included what was communicated in person, with pictures and specific recommendations. Back in August of 2018, John performed a pool inspection for the new home that we were purchasing. His report was incredibly detailed, thorough, and informative. The report suggested a number of important repairs and gave us a piece of mind. Fast forward to January 2019. We had a water leak outside that we were not sure whether it was somehow coming from the pool, pool equipment, drainage, or other sources. I called John to get his opinion, since he had offered back in August to call him with any questions. John answered the phone and discussed possible leak scenarios with me for nearly 20 minutes.
