Our sales rep was great. He wasn't scammy, sleazy, or salesy. In fact, the sales rep (Andy Satchwell) was the whole reason why we went to Synergy Power in the first place, even though there were other companies offering solar energy. But then came the problems, after we bought it. Our panels cost around $35,000. Since the 20-year loan would only add about $10,000 in interest, we decided to get the loan, for cashflow reasons. Later that year, when interest rates in the real estate market dropped (in 2020), we tried to refinance our home, which would save us about $110,000 in interest, but our loan officer informed us that it was impossible because the solar company (or Sunlight Financial) had put a lien on our house. What?! Why? He called and called, he negotiated and every time, he frustratingly reported back to us that there was no way to let us go on with the refinancing. Eventually, we just said, "If it makes it easier, we'll just pay off the solar loan." We happened to have enough cash saved up and so, we paid the $35,000 in full. But the misery wasn't over yet. In December, our solar panels stopped working. I called the phone number I found online. No answer. I left messages, at least 5 or 10 of the, throughout the weeks. Never called back. Then I called Andy and he said the solar company had been bought out by another company and that he could no longer assist us. He gave us Chad's phone number, but this was the phone number I had been calling so many times anyway. My wife texted Chad. At least he answered but he failed to send someone over. Every time, it was something like, "We don't know when one of our guys will be over there," or, "we don't have anyone in the area," or the empty promise of, "maybe we'll swing by sometime." Never any clarity. And no, the problem didn't get fixed. We've been without solar energy for about 3 weeks now. This is going to cost us another $250 extra on energy. Does Chad care? Probably not. Eventually, he told us the problem must be the electricity panel inside the house. Wish he would have mentioned that 3 weeks ago! Hopefully, the electrician can fix it. I think it's obvious that I highly recommend to NOT get your solar energy from Synergy Power. We almost missed out on a gigantic refinancing deal because of the sneaky way they put a lien on our house. Glad we had the cash. And now they're not even working. Worst investment ever! read more

I had a good experience with Synergy. They installed solar and upgraded my electrical box. They took care of a number of small details - for example, the new electrical box required new stucco outside my house. They paint matched my house and ensured that it looks as good as new. So far, I am not sure the installation will be worth the money. According to our PG&E bill, we got $32 in credits (for a very sunny June-July) and still owe $30 for usage and $8 for fees. We generated more than twice what we used for the month. Nicole Williams, our rep for Synergy, assures me that we will get a credit from PG&E that balances out what we are paying monthly, so I'll update this review at the end of the year to confirm. We looked at several solar installers before we decided to go with Synergy Power and it was one of the best decisions we made. The pricing was competitive, but more importantly the entire team was great to work with. They were responsive in answering our questions by phone or e-mail. Eric was great to work with as was Joe and Christian, the lead installers on our project. Synergy coordinated our solar install with the installation of a new roof. If you are on the fence trying to decide on what solar company to select let me help you out. Learn from my mistake and looked beyond the reviews, BBB ratings, number of years in business and quoted price. I did all of the above and selected a company that installed a nonworking solar system and left town before I got approval from PG&E to turn the system on. I contacted California Solar Storage Association (CALSSA) and NABCEP which are organizations where only the highest rated solar companies and installers are members. I explained to them that I had a new solar install and the company closed. They contacted Eric Piekarczyk the owner of Synergy Power. I got an email from Eric at 6:00 am Saturday morning letting me know he would have his team contact me Monday morning. Monday morning I got a call stating that they would service my account that afternoon. By 2:00 pm Monday afternoon after fixing the faulty inverter my system was up and running. Customer care and service is number one to me. My expectations were exceeded by a call 6:00 am from the president of Synergy Power, follow up by his staff and fixing my solar system. I was not a Synergy Power customer at the time-just a person that needed help. Synergy Energy stepped up in a big way for me. They are now the administrator and monitor of my solar system. I needed a couple panels removed so a roofer could repair a leak. Synergy Power was one of the few solar companies that promptly responded to my request for a quote. Even the company who originally installed the panels, Honey Air & Solar, never got back to me with a quote... although they did manage to find time to add me to their promotional mailing list without my consent. The technicians from Synergy were quick and polite and even humored my request to use a protective tarp I had between the panels while they were in the garage waiting for the roofer to do his work. Rich, the guy who scheduled the technicians, was remarkably helpful. When one of the micoinvertes wasn't reporting data he got in touch with Enphase who confirmed it has gone bad and had them send a replacement so Synergy could install it. I also had the panels cleaned and have already noticed a significant bump in production for January over the previous year. Synergy Power has been a breath of fresh air amongst a flood of otherwise disappointing experiences with contractors I've had come do work on my house. We have had an absolutely wonderful experience with Synergy Power. Starting with the prompt appointment for the initial overview when their professional salesperson Nicole William's came to our home for a thorough power point presentation about the company and services they offer. It also included digital renderings of where the solar panels could be placed. We were able to combine solar pool heating system as well as solar for our home. This owner is not professional and quite honest.#1 when my inverter blow out, he replaced the whole inverter - which is fine because I got the new version. But the fact he never explained to me if the inverter blows out the fuse, there is a simple switch inside the inverter box similar ta o regular fuse that I could put back on and get my power back. I did not know - never sealed with an inverter and solar before. His communication skill and his dishonest practice are not respectful to anyone to do business with his company. Watch! #2. My inverter blew out again because of an overload last month. I called him and talked to him. I sent him photos when I was sitting in the dark with no power. He never called me back. What a jerk! Has no REGARDS FOR HIS CUSTOMER. I called the inverter manufacturing, and simply they told me where the switch is located to turn it back on. Very likely was the same issue the first time, just a matter of switching back on, instead of replacing the inverter and monkeying around for one whole day and charge me a good amount of money for labor. read more

After reading reviews here I've contacted the company to design/install solar system on my home. Company is an LLC, local and has couple of years worth of reviews (which are all good) and BBB accreditation...I was given a good enough offer and decided to proceed. Dave arranged for a contract to sign. Upon reading the 11 pages worth of forms I realized it's heavily one-sided toward the Synergy, basically calls to give up most my rights AND money while shielding Synergy as much as possible. I have asked for simpler contract form : no can do. Then I negotiated with Dave to modify and/or add an addendum - unsuccessfully. So I have not signed it, I feel Synergy disrespects prospective customers by requiring to sign such a contract, which may indicate problems down the road; but since I spent my time reading it, I'd like to share my concerns with you. It is general home improvement contract (that's not solar specific), with added 1/2 page worth of Solar system hardware/install job description, following by 2 pages of Terms and Conditions in small print:) ; + warranty, etc...Well, as usual the devil's in the details, the small print. Lets get into it: 1. Solar-specific part : solar panels models, inverter maker are specified as well as max system power. No optimizers' maker/model or inverter model specified. No projected annual generation is specified (let alone guaranteed). Thus, if a system is installed per this Contract but generates annually less than advertised due to system design deficiency/over-optimism, the Contract protects the Synergy, not you. Sure, equipment may be the other reason, it has manufacturer warranties, but you'd probably have to deliver panel(s) to manufacturer's lab to test them, the manufacturer can alway blame system design/integrator (Synergy) whole system underperformance. Terms and Conditions: 2. DELAYS : Company is allowed to indefinetely delay construction for any imaginable reason, including "inability to secure material through regular recognized channels...,lockouts boycotts, or other labor union activities, ..delays caused by inspection or changes ordered by the inspectors of authorized governmental bodies". So if Synergy cannot get solar equipment they normally purchase via their discounted channels, they can simply delay indefinitely. 2. however if there is 60 days delay for ANY reason YOU have to make Synergy whole, including usual profit and then they're done: "If the work shall be stopped for ANY reason, for a period of sixty (60) days, then Contractor may, at Contractor's option, upon five (5) days written notice, demand and receive payment for all work executed and material ordered or supplied and any other loss sustained including Contractor's usual fee for overhead and profit based upon the contract price. Thereafter, Contractor is relieved from any further liability. " 3. Furthermore, the Solar equipment specified on that 1/2 page may be substituted at Synergy discretion, without Customer consent : "Where brand names have been specified, Contractor may select substitutes when such substitutions are due to unavailability or other circumstances beyond Contractor's control ". 4. LIMITED WARRANTY : if (roof) installation causes damage to your person/home/property, that is not covered, Synergy only has to correct the system installation. Except it would pay $500 if they're responsible for a roof leak. "limited to the replacement or correction of said defective material and / or installation, and NO other claims, or demands whatsoever shall be made upon or allowed against the contractor ". So if a panel slides from a roof, damages it + something on the ground - no liability. Warranty is NOT transferrable. Terms say the warranty is 1 year and overrides 10 years specified on separate page : "there are no warranties either EXPRESSED or implied which extend BEYOND the description within THIS PARAGRAPH #1. this warranty shall terminate ONE year from final building inspection or the date of the completion, whichever is first. " 5. COMPLETION : Synergy wants you to sign Notice of Completion and make final payment after Final Inspection by a City. They say it is then a week or so before PGE is supposed to issue permit to operate (PTO), after which system may come online. What if PGE objects to something? Why not give customer peace of mind if it is only a week? "Owner agrees to sign & record a Notice of Completion within five(5) days after the project is substantially completed ". read more

From start to finish, these folks took care of everything, including any permits, applications for rebates etc. I'm an retired contractor so I am a picky customer to say the least, all of their workers were very professional and through. We used Synergy to add on solar panels to our existing system, and add a battery. Dave, Rich, and Melissa were all fantastic. They helped us decide which battery system to use and then led us through the whole process, keeping us informed and working with us to schedule the install. Calls and e-mails were always returned within a day. The install took an extra day due to sick calls and they worked with us to get the second day scheduled promptly and reschedule the inspection, working with our schedule. When there was confusion on the parts delivery, they had someone out that afternoon to remedy it. (The delivery guy, from a separate company, also said Synergy was great.) The guys who came out to do the install were on time, polite, and hard working - and made the final tweaks to our battery backup that sales had told me wasn't possible: the electricians said it WAS and made me very happy. I reached out a couple times with questions AFTER the install- which is usually when a company ghosts you- and Synergy still has responded promptly to make sure we have what we need. I reached out to several companies for initial info and quotes and Synergy gave me the best vibes; very glad we went with them. read more

So this hasn't been the perfect experience -- misplaced approval plans; a bit of sloppy conduit painting (at the highest point of my home, some of the exterior wall was painted a brighter splotchy white, and parts of the conduit remain unpainted); a mis-labelled breaker in the new "critical load" panel; debris left on the garage floor; and a first harrowing evening of having all critical load outlets go dead at 1am (including my refrigerator) because the installer forgot to switch on the breaker from my old box to the newly installed box (...thank goodness one of the sleeping Synergy owners answered his phone to instruct me on toggling the appropriate breaker switch). So why the 5-stars given some of the above inconveniences? Because it was on the cusp of a global pandemic. Synergy was kind enough to expedite parts and installers to my home, so I think I can cut Synergy some slack for the rush and stress of getting this installation done. Furthermore, I LOVE the day time solar power and energy storage system (backup battery) that supplements my home into the wee hours before shutting off (to conserve battery power for a true blackout emergency). My modest 10 Panasonic panels provide consistently terrific power to my home. I'd hire Synergy again. You will also get personalized responsiveness that you may not get from larger/national installers. read more

My husband and I had researched several other companies but Eric quoted us a reasonable price on panels and equipment with 25-year warranties--something important to us because we planned to purchase the panels. We got an installation date scheduled 13 days out from our initial meeting, and everything went up as planned without a hitch. Eric price-matched an alternate quote to assuage any concerns I had about pricing. We were notified today by PG&E, less than five days since the install, that we are up and running; and Jason just called to schedule a follow up meeting with us to show us the in's and out's of the system.
