So, we ordered Sy's Sweet Dessert Bar for my mom's birthdate via Door dash. I selected the strawberry cupcake, the carrot cake, and the strawberry cheesecake (which was unfortunately out of stock and substituted without inquiry/confirmation with the coconut cupcake). Overall, my mom really enjoyed the cupcakes, for the most part, but was disappointed that she couldn't try the strawberry cheesecake and that it was substituted with her least favorite type of cake. I sampled the strawberry cupcake which was super tasty and cleverly/perfectly paired with the creme at the top of the cake. I also sampled the coconut cake, which was okay. I found this spot by chance a few weeks ago. FYI, THESE ARE NOT CUPCAKES! These were mini/ individual cakes. They don't have cupcake liners and calling it a cupcake right away gives the perception that they are overly sweet which they are not! And do you see piped on frosting on them? No! First impression walking up to the door, it gave me Sweets Raku vibes from the posters highlighting a few of their mini cakes. Walking in you are greeted by the owner, Olivier/Oliver (whichever is easier for you to pronounce), and you can just tell by his excitement as he describes the offerings of the day. You'll find out they are on a rotating schedule for their menu, a great little incentive for guests to return weekly to see the what has been added/ changed. My first try was a lemon curd smash cake (which I forgot to take a picture/video) of because I was just in a hurry to eat it. The "smash" is part of the fun should you choose to enjoy it. He gives you a little wooden mallet to smash the chocolate covered part of the cake. The cakes looks dense but it's not. The sweetness was just right as their desserts lean more towards the European palette of just the right amount of sweetness and not overly so like most desserts around town. After that first visit, I came back to try their coconut smash cake, carrot cake, and lemoncello tart. I can't make a selection which I like the most because I still need to try more items. Macarons (6 piece set, $12.50) are yummy! Flavors include passion fruit, raspberry, lime, coconut, caramel, and chocolate. Hawaiian Tropical Cake ($8.25) is delightful and so good! It has three layers with passion fruit, pineapple, and mango curd, all wrapped in a white chiffon cake, topped with whipped cream, edible flower, and thin white chocolate. Italian Olive Oil Citrus Cake ($7.50) is amazing! It's a lovely sunshine cake with olive oil infused in a citrus cake, orange glazed, ashanti whipped cream, topped with orange and lime zest, and a thin piece of chocolate, Yum! French Opera Cake is my favorite! It's an almond sponge cake with rich chocolate and coffee infused ganache, double layer, dusted with edible gold, and chocolate crunch pearls, both delectable and absolutely delicious! The owners are from Marseilles France, and the Chocolate Croissants they make fresh in house here are THE BEST CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS I've eaten since I moved to Vegas 3 years ago. Seriously. Absolute gem of a place. Olivier was amazing. Made me feel welcome for my first visit. We chatted for a half hour as he baked me a fresh pain au chocolat. The service alone is worthy of 5 stars but the desserts did not disappoint. The flavors are as described and all were visually appealing. The lemon cake had a lighter hint of the lemon and a very pleasant aftertaste that helped build on the flavor. The lemon tart however was the hit of sour lemon lovers would enjoy (as I did very much). The strawberry was light and refreshing. And the chocolate brownie had a lovely chew combined with the cinnamon that gave it an extra little unexpected kick. I was so excited when this opened by my home!!! The owner was present when I came in about 45 minutes before they closed. He was so kind and explained all the desserts and what they consisted of.
