This is a nostalgic restaurant for me as I've been coming here since my parents moved to Canton in 1978. I don't know what happened, the bad part is that I don't think they've changed ownership because I've seen the same snooty lady there, sitting by the front door and doing the books, that I've always known to be the owner....but times certainly have changed cuz they don't serve the great Chinese food they used to anymore. I keep on giving them chances hoping that they've switched back to their old ways and start caring about their food again but after trying several times, its been a failure. It's definitely too bad because I used to love this place but if I'm gonna spend my money on Chinese Food, I'm certainly going to go somewhere that I love. Don't waste your money here. read more

Very good for an all American Chinese restaurant. We have just moved to the area and this place came highly recommended. We ate in but I think I would recommend take out. We ordered the pork dumplings, Mapo Tofu, and fish with szechuan sauce because we like spicy food. We got it medium spicy and next time we will probably go up a spice level. Everything was very good and the portions were very generous. The food came out quickly and the server was very quick with refilling our water glasses. I would definitely recommend this place as long as you weren't looking for authentic Szechuan cuisine. read more

Very disappointed with the food. My friends said this place is hit or miss, definitely a miss this time and I don't think I'll ever give it another chance. The food is pretty expensive and it comes in quart boxes. All 4 of our chicken dishes were very soggy, we all ordered them extra hot and it was not even the slightest bit spicy. The spring roll was dripping grease and the dishes aren't served with fried rice, only plain white rice. Honestly this was awful. The people at the counter were nice that's why it gets a two. I spent $84 plus tip and we threw most of it out. Never seen a general tso that looked and tasted like that. I had also heard rave reviews about this restaurant before I ever had anything here. My brother's company used to get carry-out once a week because they all loved it. Several of them recommend the garlic ginger chicken (although they all order it without the mushrooms). I thought it was okay. I'm usually a big fan of simple stuff - fried rice, soup and spring rolls. I've tried a couple other dishes here, but almost everything (including the fried rice) has big pieces of onion. Big enough to pick out, but a lot of them, which annoyed me. The last couple of times I've just gone with some soup and a few spring rolls. The service has always been very good here. The staff is prompt, helpful and eager to please. Be careful in the parking lot - the spaces and aisles are a little bit tight. This place is overrated. I called to place a pickup order of orange chicken and chicken fried rice. Yelp menu prices say my total should be $19.90 + tax for my meal, which I'm fine with. Guy on the phone never told me my final price but I'm expecting it to be in that range. I enter the building and get told my total is $29.05. Wow! No idea where the price jump came from, but this had better be the best Chinese food of my life for that price with only 2 food items. I pay and take it home only to be disappointed that the rice has no flavor and the chicken can be a bit overpowering but is nice and crispy. The chicken does have a lot of chewy pieces in it though. I love this place their food is great, I love the Happy family shrimps,scallops beef and chicken delish!!! The hunan chicken and Ginger chicken are also wonderful. Going on yelp, I was in town for a meeting during lunchtime Friendly, fast staff. I was promptly treated and seated several other tables but not overly crowded or noisy. Nice tables and decor. A server came immediately with hot tea and water. I ordered Beef with Broccoli this also included a wonton soup and 2 crab Rangoon! The flavor of the beef and broccoli was delicious the best I've ever had and didn't cause me to swell up in my hands like so many Chinese restaurants. The broccoli was crisp and fresh and the beef was perfectly textured not fatty. Having a soup and Rangoon's included was a bonus. Both fresh and full of flavor. All for less than $10! I'll be back and go out of my way to visit again. I highly recommend!!! read more

My family went to Szechuan Restaurant for dinner. The food was delicious, the restaurant is clean, and the portions are big. My wife and I had the fried dumpling appetizer. They were very good. The wrap was nice and thick, but could have been pan fried a bit more. The filling and sauce was very tasty. These were some of the best dumplings we've ever had. My mom had the Mu Shu chicken and she said it was good, but not as spicy as she would have liked. My wife, dad, and I had the Kung Pao chicken. It was flavorful and spicy. read more

I may revise this rating on a later visit, i only had one dish so i can't give a very detailed review. I got take out so i can't comment on the service other than to say the people i ordered from were pleasant. I had a fried fish with chili sauce, ordered it hot but it wasn't very hot at all, more of a savory tomato, garlic and ginger sauce. It was pretty good, although i thought it was priced a bit high for cheap fried fish (around 14-15 for fish and rice). I didn't actually see a lot of Sichuan on the menu, a lot of more Cantonese kind of stuff. I wasn't wowed or disappointed, i would try them again for other things but it's not going to be exactly high on my list of places to hurry back to. Probably will try them again for a lunch special. Maybe something i get on my next visit will raise my rating? read more

We normally would dine in twice a month but they are carry out only since covid. While disappointed, we understand their challenges and get our favorite dishes to go. We have been getting all our Chinese food from this restaurant for many years. Today was very disappointing. I had the appetizer platter. It was all burnt (the crab rangoon, the pot stickers, the coconut shrimp, etc.). We didn't get any rice (always came as part of the entrees). I had some time in Canton the other day for lunch and decided that some spicy food sounded good. I headed over to Sze Chuan restaurant to check it out since i had never been and it seemed to be pretty popular. Old school decor with newer tables and chairs was pleasant. I went with the classic General Tso's lunch combo and while it is slightly pricier than the carryout places, the hot and sour soup was full of good vegetables and bite sized pieces of chicken and was a good cup on a cold day. The option of crab rangoon or spring roll is always appreciated- the rangoons were a little cold but still savory and a good complement to the main dish. The General's Tso chicken was delicious- sufficiently spicy at the B level, had the requisite chili pepper pods to add heat also, and the white rice was fluffy and provided the perfect plain base to the spicy/sweet chicken. We have been ordering from here for years. Our 3 most recent meals have been so, so. Tonight our order was the LAST. Orange Beef was disgusting at best. It was so loaded with sodium you couldn't even taste orange or honey just a burned beef taste. Tough pieces of orange peel were like toenails. Second entre' was Hunan Chicken. Well I've been here on multiple occasions. But tonight New Year's Eve (of course it is busy) customer service was terrible. I ordered carry out and was informed it would be an hour wait (no problem) on arrival (approx. 1hr and 10mins) it was like I was invisible. I was standing right in front of the counter and 2 people were working behind the counter; an older Caucasian lady that walked in after me and standing next to me was acknowledged first, wanting to place her name on the waitlist for 2 and the employee reached out to another caucasian man that was upset because he was told 1/2 hour for his pick up when clearly we could see a counter full of carry out and a restaurant full. For anyone reading this just slow down and be patient it's New Year's Eve! I just shook my head and after these people were done I had to jump in and say I believe I was next. Apparently this place is pretty much an institution in Canton. I had a hankering for Chinese food, which is not like me at all. I called in a take out order at lunch time for general tso chicken. The lunch menu comes with two sides. I chose fried rice and a spring roll. I kinda wish they had given me two, they were greasy but oh so good. The fried rice was pretty standard but a good sized portion. The general tso's chicken was good. I got it with a bit of heat on it, which they will gladly adjust. There was a decide sized crowd for lunch but take out was fast. Like less than 20 mins fast. I would go back if I had another Chinese craving.
