We were looking for a new stylist. This place has an excellent stylist that made getting a kiddo's hair cut stress free. My kid does not like getting hair cuts from outside places, to the point she rather have a give herself a home cut. Unfortunately, this was not practical as she was 6 and needed a fix RIGHT BEFORE PICTURE DAY. Luckily we were able to be squeezed in for an emergency trim. I've been going here consistently for more than 5 years, but after today, I'm considering not going back. The pros: Great haircuts. Low cost. In fact, in the past I would tip a LOT because their prices were so reasonable that I felt they were undercharging. The cons: Customer service 2 weeks ago I knew I would have a Monday off, and I knew I wanted a haircut. These folks used to do walk ins, but as the word has gotten out they have more or less stopped that. So, I asked for an appointment for December 6th. It was confirmed on the phone. I arrived there today, and this conversation happened: "Can I help you?" "Yes, I have an appointment at 10:30." "I don't think so." "Umm, I should? I booked it a couple of weeks ago." "What's your name?" "*Gives name*" "No.... Last Monday you had an appointment." "No. That it not what I asked for or what we discussed on the phone. I made an appointment for December 6th." "Sorry." *turns back to client * No attempt to rebook. No admission that THEY made a mistake, which they definitely did. The implication was definitely that I had made a mistake in some way. I was working last Monday, I knew I was going to be working last Monday, December 6th doesn't sound anything like November 29th, and *they repeated that the 6th was open on the phone.* My time off that I have available to get a haircut is valuable. I don't have a lot of it. When I do, I prefer to give my money to small businesses like this one. But the utter lack of regard for my time and my business, and the lack of ability to admit wrong on their part has left a really sour taste in my mouth. Plus, this was going to be my first haircut since the pandemic started. To say I was looking forward to it is an understatement. So now I'm sitting here with my split ends, looking for somewhere else in the area to take my business. Because it just isn't ok to treat your customers like that. read more

This was my first time at T and D Hair Design. I had read many positive reviews. I'm the type who doesn't get a hair cut very often (seriously, like once every two years). I tend to cut my own hair, and I know it's not stellar, especially now that it is no longer long and glossy and thick. Age. Diem was the most gracious and sensitive stylist. She listened to my history and preferences, etc., and gave very good advice about what my hair could do / look like. I've had stylists in the past, even one who cut the hair of Eddie Vedder's wife (she is wonderful, too, but far from my home). My only hesitance with this review is that they are likely to be overwhelmed by customers, not because of my review, but because they are awesome. I've never been happy with a haircut on that day, so this is the first time that I'm truly happy with it. It's not that the other cuts were bad, they just seemed to play up straight hair while my hair is very wavy/curly, and I'm a wash-and-go person. I've been constantly coming here for the past 2.5 years for haircut and let me tell you this place is amazing! First thing to know, you will need to make appointment by phone since they can be pretty busy during the day. You could also come directly to the place to check if they have any openings that day. They have 2 hairdressers (Thuy and Diem). I've been helped by both of them on numerous occasions and neither have disappoint! They're really friendly and love to make conversation with customers. Just a note, if you're not sure how to tell them what kind of haircut / hair color you want to get *in case you wanna dye your hair*, definitely just show them the pictures. It feels like I'm parroting Laura B.'s review but my experience is similar. We needed a closer place for haircuts so we turned to good old Yelp for help. Based on the reviews, we decided to give Thuy a try. So far, he's been back multiple times and been pleased each time with his hair cut and facial hair trim. I will go to my hair salon for my dyeing needs (seriously, nuclear red doesn't come easy with naturally black hair) but for my next hair trim, I'm definitely going to Thuy! Yes, it's located in a strip mall and it's nothing fancy. But do you really want to pay $50 for a hair trim? If so, rock on with your ballin' self and leave this place for us. She must be doing something right, her former employer Supercuts has since closed and T & D are the sole salon in that centre. She takes walk-ins but you can also schedule an appointment. Be patient if there's folks in front of you and for goodness sakes, tip her well. You're saving SO much on the haircut that we want her to stay around! read more

The absolute best haircut I've ever received in my life! What a wonderful experience. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. I haven't had my hair cut in two years so I was a little nervous. I appreciated the fact that I told her I only wanted an inch, and she told me that I really needed an inch and a half due to the ends being dead and dry. I respected her opinion and went ahead with her suggestion. I'm glad I did! I went home and styled my hair and I can't stop touching it :) She did a fabulous job! When she washed my hair, she massaged my head and my forehead and my temples which was awesome. The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is because the decor could use a little updating. I felt like the place didn't really have a salon feel. But it won't stop me from going there over and over again and it shouldn't stop you either! Picking hairdressers can be strangely like dating. You only schedule a second date if things go reasonable well the first time. It's been awhile since I've rescheduled with the same stylist, but I'm finally here. I just booked my second appointment with T & D. I was into maintaining a short cut my first time in, and was very happy with the shape and style. Later, I decided to actually let it grow out for the winter. The reason I'm staying with T&D is because the first cut looked and felt great, AND... it actually grew out nicely. I'm just now needing some re-shaping and trimming for upcoming holiday parties. So, I needed a haircut because I was starting to look like a female chewbacca. Ok...my hair wasn't that bad, but after a certain length, my hair starts to knot, split ends become the norm, and, overall, my hair looks noticeably thinner up top due to the weight with a tangled mess towards the end. Anywhooo...I decided to give this place a try because I was going to be at Central Market doing some shopping anyways. AND I love it! Unsurprisingly, since it's a Saturday, they had a long wait list, but they managed to squeeze me in at 4:30 PM. The two women there certainly know how to cut hair. They're also very sweet and they don't try to engage in overly-personal small talk like some hair salon places or push hair product sales. Overall, great experience!! Who are these other yelpers ?!!!?? Friends of the owner...??? Seems like fake reviews for the most part....Seriously....skilled...quality....YOU MUST BE KIDDING !!! I usually go to places such as Vain, Gary Manuel or Bocz and pay around $50 for a haircut. But from time to time, I would try out a deal elsewhere....endlessly trying to save some money and find a hidden gem.....Anyhow, being new in the area, I decided to explore, saw the rave reviews, thought why not, called and got an appointment with Thuy the next day. My experience: - No hair washing (there are no wash basins). Water is sprayed on your hair. - No styling. She didn't even dry my hair!!! - I was careful not to ask for anything complicated given the type of salon. Thuy spent 10 minutes the most on my hair. She sprayed water and basically chopped off my hair here and there. She doesn't even know how to layer !!! - Cheap but is it really the case given the service and skills? (or lack of that is....) I ended up with one of the MOST AWFUL HAIRCUTS I've ever had in my life! ENDS OF MY HAIR ARE STICKING OUT WEIRDLY...So here I am, having to wear my hair in a ponytail at all times until my next haircut elsewhere. After years of spending $50 - $60 on haircuts it was time for a change especially when you get them every three weeks. My first few haircuts, a few doors down, at Supercuts was just not happening. Every cut was different and I just hate having to explain how I wanted to get it cut every time I went in so it time for another change. On my way to another bad Supercuts cut I decided to try this place at the last minute. I've noticed this place before and to be honest I didn't think much of it because it didn't look like anything special. I walked in and was going to make an appointment cut and shampoo since I busted in at random. Thuy said, "I can take you right now". Really? I offered to come back but she said it was OK. Immediately I knew she knew what she was doing. When I went to pay I noticed the total was quite low and I asked her why, she just smiled and said it's free this time around since it's my first time. Since that moment I made sure to tip her like I would if I were at the $50 - $60 places. Now I can just sit down and Thuy knows what to do. I've been going to Thuy since the beginning of this year and am always happy. I'm always in and out of here within 10-15 minutes. She pays attention to detail and she is so sweet. As said in previous reviews, she does an awesome job for the price. I always wonder how she runs the place with prices so low. Man, if I was not trying to grow out my hair right now, I would be @ T&D every month! Thuy, the owner, is sweet, detailed, and knows how to snip that hair. I bring in a picture of my hair wishes and she does a great job mirroring the look; communicating with you throughout the cut. Since my hair is in its "awkward-could-be-mullet" phase, I've been tempted many times to tell Thuy to chop it off ::JUST DO IT!! This salon is a hidden gem. My husband (who has unruly thick, curly hair) was getting awful cuts at the nearby Supercuts until he found a stylist there named Thuy (Twee). Then she moved into her own place a few doors down. Hooray. Don't let the $15 price and modest digs fool you, Thuy knows what she's doing. Not only does she tame hubby's hair, but she now gives my fine, straight hair the amazing bob I've always wanted. She takes time to make my hair look great, and she's warm and easy to talk to. No need for appointments either. T & D is in the strip mall that contains Central Market grocery store, so there's ample parking and you can grab some organic produce after your cut. I needed a major cut (shoulder length to Jennifer Lawrence pixie), and based on all of these five-star reviews, I came here. All I can say is: the five stars are well earned! Thuy looked at the photos I'd brought in, then adapted the look to my face shape, hair texture, and preferred way of wearing it. She noticed where my hair waves and cowlicks in awkward ways, and skillfully worked around those challenges. She consulted with me several times during the process to make sure I was on board with her suggestions. The end result is marvelous! She also talked with me about which styling products to use, without pushing me to buy any of the ones she has on hand - a welcome relief after years of being a customer at pricey salons that practically guilt you into purchasing. $16 is a steal. Went here for a hait cut. Called ahead and was taken 15 min later. She did a good job.

This no frills hair salon gave me a basic haircut and eyebrow waxing. The service was great. However, during the waxing a glob of wax got into my hair by my ear. She tried to clean it off, but didn't get it. Later I noticed how bad it was and tried to get it out with my fingers. I pulled on the hair to get the wax out and the chunk came out leaving a bald spot. LOL! Oops. Despite this mishap I will come back. Everything else was done well. read more

Since moving up to the Shoreline/Seattle area I have taken my two boys here 3 times and loved how fast and good the owner is. She always seems to be able to fit us in even if we don't have an appointment. But, I would recommend calling to make an appointment because she does tend to fill up pretty quickly. So I moved here from California about a month ago and had my hair cut right before I left cause I was anxious about having to find another barber. After reading the positive reviews of Twee (sp?) on yelp I decided to give the place a try. Needless to say all the positive reviews are correct! Twee is a very low key, friendly, professional lady with an easy going personality which was great. I never felt worried or anxious about my haircut, which is a first since I have several cowlicks that almost ensure a bad haircut if the person doesn't know what they're doing. I will definitely be back in 3 weeks! Oh yea, I would like to mention my previous place in Cali was a salon and I paid $30 + tip. I didn't mind paying that much because I had someone I trusted. As mentioned in another review Twee's prices are a STEAL so please tip accordingly. The peace of mind is well worth it! read more

I've always been very picky about my hair and even when I've gotten a good haircut I've never been happy with it walking out. It's always taken a day or two to like it. Today, as soon as Twee told me to put my glasses on and see the cut, it was perfect. And the price was great:16 for the cut, some layering, even putting in the product and styling it for me.
